No matter how small the donation, it will be greatly appreciated and the Heart Fund will certainly see that all monies are put to the best of use against our Nation's number oris killer. We feel our Girl and Boy Scouts and their leaders, who must be out with their Scouts, deserve a big hand for giving their time and energy to make the collections, now won!t you please, help them by donating to the Heart Fund? The standings as we see them are, Mets in first place with 6% points followed very closely by the Pirates with 6. Third place is held by the Dodgers with 5 points. In fourth position are the Orioles with 4 points, they are followed by the Braves and Sox who are tied with 3 points each. Close behind are the Cubs who have 2Ys points and bringing up the rear are the Yankees with 2 points. Jane Grothman still hold high scratch series with a 513. Ray Rode holds high scratch series for the men with a 595. Dottie Becker has high series with a handicap, with a 635 and Ken Grothman holds the Pirates. The Braves will try their best against the Dodgers while the Sox take on the first place Mets and the Yankees are pitted against the Orioles. Should prove another night of interesting scores. We've Been Asked To please say something in our column about the guns that are being shot along the east end of our subdivision and after hearing that latest results of gun shots we feel it's time something ^s done. A> dog was the latest victim of someone shooting, next it cquld be a human being. Not too long ago a bullet whizzed by a man in his home as he was shaving, windows are shot at and now a beautiful dog was killed by someone's aim. Guns are not toys and they would- be respected for what they are, weapons of death Isn't there enough violence and killing in this world without heaving these things going on right here, in our own back yards so they say? There are firing ranges or hunt clubs for those who must., fire guns so why must guns be aimed at homes, animals and humans? Let's all try to put ah end to this needless shooting before it's too late., Any resident who hears or sees guns being shot in the subdivision should contact the sheriff's office in Woodstock immediately. We've also been asked to remind our residents that their garbage dues became due on the first of this month sp help your block captain out by getting yours in. To remind you of the Girl Scouts wanting 1-lb. coffee cans with the tops and also empty % or gallon size bleach bottles, and any remnants of material. They will use them to make "ditty bags," so badly needed at Dixon. The Boy Scouts would appreciate receiving cola bottle caps to help a needy child get an artificial limb. Just drop them off any Tuesday evening at the Community House. And last but by no means least, we're asked to say a word about dogs and cats. What else can we say, it's been said dozens of times. Just remember you may love your pet dearly, but your neighbor doesn't. Keep them [home. of their favorite songs. Cookies and cokes were the special treat for the day. In April, the Girl Scout fair is to take place so the girls will be starting on their project for this affair. Mrs. Webber is co-chairman. They will be making instruments to play in a jig band. Sounds like a lot of fun. Corsages For Proud Mothers At Parent night at Marion Central high school last week, corsages were handed out to the mothers of the varsity basketball players and mothers of the varsity cheerleaders. Our own Jo Rizzo was the proud recipient of one of these corsages pinned on by her daughter Paula. Valentine Party Roberta Humphries was hostess of a valentine party for six pre-school children last Friday. Lunch was served to Mark Webber, Kathy LaUer, Karen Ewing, Marty N\gss, Linda Humphries and Kenny Quast. Musical chairs and drop the clothes pin in the bottle were played and each child made a valentine to give to their mother. Girl Scouts At our last Girl Spouts meeting we made valentines to exchange with the Brownies at their valentine party. A real lot of fun was had at the Brownies valentine party on Tuesday. Mrs. Johnson has requested that everyone save any size milk carton you might happen to have from half gallon size down to your pint sizes. Either call Mrs. Johnson at 385-6504 or Mrs. Dowell at 385-5876 and they Will be happy to pick them up or if you know of a Girl Scout close by, you could give them to her. Respectfully submitted, Maria Mecic, Scribe. Brownies On Feb. 11 at the regular Brownie meeting a valentine party Vvas held with the Brownies inviting the Girl Scouts as their guests. Sixteen Brownies plus fourteen Girl Scouts made for a- crowded basement in the Quast home on Ramble Road. Favors were made by the Brownies for each girl, and the Girl Scouts brought each Brownie a heart filled with candy hearts. They also gave a larger heart to the Brownie leaders, Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Quast, with a valentine handkerchief in each. Games were played by the girls and each troop sang some JET NORTHWEST DIRECT TO A Newsletter Any organizations or persons having news for the newsletter must have the information to Lyda Radisch not later than the 21st. Let's hope there will be a large turnout for this meeting. Boiler Skating Party "How do you feel today" seemed to be the favorite saying on Friday, the day after the baseball club roller skating party. Old and young, they all got out there to do their turn around the. floor and not many left before the three hours were up. All in all we had a wonderful time and a profitable one for the Baseball Club besides. Strolling Through The Park L y d a R a d i s c h ' s b r o t h e r , Ralph Kendig, spent Saturday and girls. Carole also discovered new muscles that had with Lyda and Bill. On Sunday the Radisches had dinner and supper with their family in Carpentersville. Last Thursday both Lyda and Bill were initiated into the White Shrine. It was rather a quiet week for Lyda and Bill. Petey and Jack Oakford had Petey's mother, Mrs. Eileen Grondy, her sister, Mrs. Marilyn McCullough, her brother, Duke, and sister-in-law, Connie, as dinner guests on Sunday. They all ventured to Veterans Acres for an afternoon of skating and sledding. Twas a wonderful day even tho Petey found many new muscles on Monday morning. Another family who ventured out sledding and tobogganing were Carole and Don Humann ir ne|fv gone unused. Grandma and Grandpa Kraskiewicz had their daughter and' her family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson, as guests from Friday to Sunday. Helen had a valentine birthday cake for her 8 year old grandson, Gregory. , A very energetic group of young ladies helped Kathy Becker become a teenager last Friday and Saturday. The party began at 4 p.m. on Friday and kept going until 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. There was a great deal of eating, record playing and talking but very little sleep at the pajama party on Friday night. All the girls were taken roller skating on Saturday afternoon. Helping Kathy celebrate her day were: Julie Whiting, JoAnn Rizzo, Jody Osman, Wendy Dralle, Lynne Merkel, Mary Lou Miller, Margaret Nimsgern and Kathy's two younger sisters, Mary and Margie. Brother Ken spent his time visitiftg, leaving the house filled with the female sex. From all reports from Kathy's mom, Dottie, the girls were just wonderful. Heard Carla Deitz is the only senior at McHenry high school to be on the A honor roll. We're all very proud of our young resident. Agnes Prazak spent Lincoln's birthday by being a very wonderful mother. Being a holiday from school, she drove her two sons, Kenny and Donny, into the city where they were joined by Frankie Vanek and Mike Hamer. They then visited the Auto Show and museums. It was quite a day Aggie reported. Mary, Jim, Mick, Jimmy and Tommy Daurio spent the weekend visiting with Grandma Cahill, Mary's mother, in the Windy City. Our congratulations go to St. Patrick's basketball team for winning the Legion .tournament. Members of the winning team from here are, Tommy Przetacnik who played on the varsity and Jimmy Franklin and Doug Belaholvy are on the J- V. team. Kathy Becker is a cheer leader. The varsity team had also won the Knights of Columbus tournament just two weeks before. Very pleased to report that Dave Druml won his latest Karate match with little trouble. He then took on another match that wasn't his and ended up having to have three stitches in his lower lip and four stitches in his right hand. 'Twas a painful victory, two wins and seven sutures all in one night. Take care, son. Ronnie Clark and his fiancee, Jean, visited with Sue and Matt \Grizley on Saturday. Vivian and John Steele and their youngsters spent Sunday in the big city visiting with Vivian's mother, Mrs. Williams, and John's parents. They also took in the Junior Achievement Fair. Nedra, Les and Billy Eckhart spent Sunday in the city. They brought Nedra's mother, Mrs. Chamblin, back home with them. Tuesday, Nedra had a luncheon and canasta session in her mother's honor. Hope Mrs. Chamblin enjoyed her visit. Attention We have had a lot of people ask when the next rummage sale Will be, so we thought we would let you all know. The Boy Scouts are planning one for early this spring, the exact date not yet set. More information will be forthcoming. Meanwhile, save all your rummage, or call Jim Daurio at 385-3160 for pickup. -e IT PAYS ADVERTISE!
