The ROTC VITALIZATION BILL -- HR-9142 desirability for enactment into law of HR- 9142 is in the fact that it would permit considerable expansion of ROTC in high schools and colleges. His internal organs were found to be transposed. George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vales, knew he was an unusual young man. His heart ticked on the right side instead of the left. But on Wednesday young Mr. Vales, who is 22, awoke to discover his internal world was completely topsy-turvey. Not only his heart but the position of all his internal organs is transposed and has been since birth. His body functions as well as the next, but he is a rare medical oddity. Probably two of the fastest growing lake regions in the middle west are seeking better road conditions in their district-- the McCullom Lake and Wonder Lake communities. Tuesday, a group of citizens from the McCullom Lake region visited the county board in hopes of gaining cooperation of members in improving a sevenmile stretch of xoad leading from Rt. 31. , The election for important offices in MdHenry township is Tuesday, April 4, and will bring the township voters out to choose a man for the office of supervisor and road commissioner. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of March 18, 1954) Tragedy came to the Faxel family of Indian Ridge subdivision Wonder Lake, for the second time in less than a year when John Henry Faxel, 53, was killed in an auto accident which occurred at Cristy Corner, on the blacktop road just east of Wonder Lake, last Saturday night. He was reported to have lost control of his car, which crashed into a utility pole. The auto then overturned several times and Faxel was thrown from the machine. In May of last year a daughter of the Faxels, Mrs. Catherine Wood, was killed in an auto accident on Rt. 120 in Lake county. At that time Mrs. Wood was the mother of two small children, one of them only a few weeks old. Since her death, they have been cared for in the Faxel home. Months of planning, special meetings and careful consideration culminated in the awarding of the contract for a new ornamental street lighting system in McHenry as the City Council convened Monday evening. The contract' was awarded to Aldridge Electric of Lake Forest, the low bidder. Looking back a few years, it can be recalled that the McHenry Business Men's association took up tlie project of getting McHenry out of the dark and started a campaign for funds. Generous donatipns were made by business people. A paper drive, energetically headed by Albert S. Blake, resulted in additional revenue as several men rolled up their slevees and went to work. A special election was held Sept. 15, 1953, at which time the voters approved a bond issue in the amount of $55,000.
