Mr. and Mrs. -Sims, the honored guests, and ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaiser of , Chicago will dine in Wheeling and will attend a. stage play. "They decided on the intimate party rather than a large one, because last week the family _ was caught up in the "hccktivity" of a sixty-first wedding an- ' niversary. Mr. and Mrs. Vin- - re>nt Geraci, Helen's parents, ' were feted on this nlost unusual . occasion. - -Helen Geraci met George Meyer at a social held at the Immaculate Conception church - in "Chicago. George, a handsome second baseman for the Chicago-White Sox, .was smitten with the flashing eyed at- - tractive brunette and the sparks caught fire. Some time,, after their first meeting and a whirlwind courtship, they were wed in -the-church which was the " scene of their first meeting on * March 12, 1939. They left immediately for Tarpon Springs, Fla., where George was in spring training with-his team. During the first years of their marriage, they followed the team to Shreveport, Oklahoma' City,' Dallas, and St. Paul. The arrival of daughter, Roberta, now Mrs. Richard Sims, made the couple teel they should settle down and they chose Chicago for their home. Georges Jr.,.'arrived one year after his sister, and their last child was Dennis who is 16 and a sophomore in McHenry high. He is an athlete and a scholar and hopes to pursue further learning after graduation. Helen and George and the three children moved to Mc- Culloni Lake about ,,12 years ago and have certainly been the finest of neighbors,. Roberta married Richard Sims some over two years ago and they have a lovely lilile irl - - Michelle, who turned 1 on Mar. 14. George, Jr., graduated from McHenry high and then attended Northern III. U:. and Milton College, Milton, Wis., He recently completed his basic training at Wichita Falls, Texas, and left Monday "nn.rning for Travis Air Force Base, San Francisco. Here he will attend school and learn IBM data proa very handsome couple, have certainly proved that "life can be beautiful" and we look forward to reporting their golden wedding! ! ! ! cessing. George and Helen, who make First Easter Party For Ladies of the Lake Mrs. Lois Parenti will be your hostess Saturday night at McDonald's when the Ladies of the Lake will hold their first Easter party. There will be plenty of hams offered and public games will be played. One of the brightest features of the evening will be the judging of "krazy" hats. Each woman who attends is asked to wear a zany creation and there will be three prizes. This event should be most spectacular! Those wishing to make contribution of staple food items should bring them to Mac's Saturday afternoon. The establishment will be appropriately trimmed for the occasion. Receives Trophy for Model Car Contest Earl Nelson will be forced in the near ftiture to build a large case to house the trophies his young son keeps bringing home. His most recent one was received by placing first in the model car contest (senior division) sponsored by a store in McHenry. Don's entry was among forty-three and Frankie Lorch placed third in the Junior Division. These two young lads are extremely clever with their hands and put a lot of time and effort into their work. We feel they should be commended.. . - Teens Invaluable in Red Cross Drive Dierde Levesque turned in over eleven dollars during the Red Cross Fund Drive held last Sunday. Being slightly over 10, she was the youngest who participated. The next three top ones included Nancy Burg, Mrs. Marge Olsen and Mrs. Marie McKim -- all bringing in seven dollars or more. Other volunteer workers who gave their services were Edna Ayers, Carolynne Taylor, Gail Johnson, Kathy Murray, Geni Scarbrough, Nina Tomasello, Lynne Schultz and Dorie Brennan. Verbal orchids to these busy housewives and the very cooperative young gals. They deserve plaudits for their efforts. Hospital Patients Mrs. Virginia Parkhurst was scheduled to undergo surgery in Lake Forest hospital on Monday morning. She will probably be confined for about 15 days following the operation, and then a long convalescent period at home. Election Preparations By this time, every one should be properly registered, since Monday was the last day for this, before the primary election, Tuesday, April 14. In order to be properly prepared three Republican judges -- Earl Murray, Elma Nelson, and Marge Olsen and two Democrat judges -- Irene Sales and Tony Luto attended classes in Woodstock last week. These five will handle the election locally which wil be hed in the beachhouse. Ladies of the Lake Members of the organization elected to make a §25 donation to the Easter Seal fund drive at the last meeting held Thursday, March 12. In the absence of president Elma Nelson, Harriet McNamara wielded the gavel and did an excellent job. Conrad Gustafson was commended, via his wife Alice, for donating his professional services in the way of painting the interior of the beachhouse. Chums Spring "Sweet Sixteen" Surprise Lynne Schultz was thrilled beyond words when two of her very close chums at McHenry high held a surprise party for her in honor of her sixteenth birthday.
