Highlanders Shocked Over Shooting Every one in the Highlands Who knew Dick Zilligen was deeply shocked when they heard the news last Saturday night of the hold up in the Sears store in the Gold Mill shopping Plaza when Terrence Zilligen lost his life trying to tfap one of the robbers. Dick and Joan Zilligen had lived in the Highlands several years and moved to River Forest last September. Many knew Terrence, because he was a frequent visitor here. Ray and Rosemary T h e 1 e n , Dorothy Jenkins, Sylvia Murray and Mary Seldon attended the wake at the John Deir Funeral Home, 12 Lake Street, Oak Park. Flineral services for Terrence were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. from St. Luke's Inj River Forest with a Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m. Inter* UJent was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Terrence leaves his ntfjdow, Mary, and two daughters and a son, his brother, Dick, and three other brothers. Association President Mourns Death Of Brother Milton Croasdale, Sr., president of the Pistakee Highlands Association, is mourning the death of his brother, Arthur Croasdale. Highlands Loses Another Eligible Bachelor April 11, Forrest Reinhardt, better known to all as Woody, will take the walk down the aisle to claim his beautiful bride, Miss Melody Moore of Deerfield. They will be married at Mass in the Holy Cross church. They plan to make their home in Deerfield. Woody is the son of the very popular couple, Forrest and Grace Reinhardt, and the grandson of Roy and Gert Snell. They will miss him very much. All of a sudden both children married and the home will seem so empty. We would like to offer our congratulations to the young couple and wish them a most happy and full married life. Bents Boys Win Championship Awards Art and Myrtle Bentz are very thrilled over the awards their two sons received March 15, Art was at the basketball game to see the boys win the awards. The big event was the St. John's Catholic Order of Forester's basketball games for championships. In the heavy division Don Bentz received the championship trophy and a silver basketball. Myron Bentz received the senior division championship trophy and the Silver basketball. The Bentz boys have always been very good basketball players. We congratulate Don and Myron and We hope they both will go on to win many more awards. I)on and his lovely wife, Grace, live in Johnsbarg and Myron is home with his parents, Art and Myrtle. They have another son, Mark, who love basketball too and he is nine and they have high hepes for him too. News Of Your friends And Neighbors Dick and Haze Morley entertained Phil and Glenda Weiek, March 14, the two couples enjoyed an evening oi playing Scrabble, delicious snacks and a delicious luncheon. Isabelle Rittorno was happy to have her mother come from Chicago tos spend a few days with her taking care of the house and the three boys, while Isabelle was recovering from a severe case of bronchitis. Laura Klein and her two daughters from; Lake Villa were Saturday guests of Leisl Hanisch on March 14. I have been patiently watching for my annual harbinger of Spring the faithful Robin and early Saturday morning, March 14,1 could hear one singing and there he was, nice and plump sitting on our front lawn, now in spite of the bad weather Spring is here officially for me. March 15, the George Van Zevern family from Wilmette were out to inspect their home and to visit with George's brother, Bob, and family. Seems funny not to have them living on our block any more. Pistakee Highlands is getting street lights slowly but surely. Another street light has been installed at the corner of Thelen Drive and Ringwood road, That was a bad corner unlighted, and now you can see the sharp turns very clearly at night. Sunday March 15 Jim and Jane Malek and their three daughters, Joyce, Jamie and Joan, spent the day in Milwaukee. They visited the new Milwaukee Zoo, which is still incomplete but Jane reports it is just beautiful. Jim and Jane are getting the camping fever again and can't wait for their first camping trip. March 14 Bobby Jenkins celebrated his birthday and March 17 he was home from school with German measles. The following members Of the Milwaukee Railroad Employees Association enjoyed an evening near Elgin, March 14, Jimmy and Carla Bales and their guests, Don and Wanda Dobecki of Grayslake, Carl and Blanche Haefliger, and Art and Myrtle Bentz. Frances Brott has two of her fingers in a cast, after she slammed the car door on her hands last week. March 15, Myrtle Bentz received a call from her sister in Whitewater,, Wis., with some bad news. Her sister's home had been completely burned down due to defective wiring. Myrtle was just sick over the tragedy and hasn't been up to par since worrying about it. March 18, Reverend Doenecke and his wife, Marion, returned to his former church, the Park Ridge Methodist church, where Reverend Doenecke preached the sermon for the mid-week Lenten services. Dick and Haze Morley also attended the services. Holy Saturday, March 28, Myron Bentz will be making his . First Holy Communion at St. John's church. The boys from Cub Scout Pack 452 receiving awards at the last meeting were: Mike Hettermann, Jim Fuqua, Steve Murgatroyd, Robert Kawahara, Ray Thelen, Jr., Sean Megley and Jim Zenner. The back door was ruined, pick and Rose Farwell had a house full of unexpected company March 15. Their aunt and uncle and friends from the city came out. i Ron and Pat Jackson were pleasantly surprised when Pat's mother, Mrs. Ward, and her sister, Sandy, from Chicago dropped in March 15. Mrs. Ward drove out in her new car to show Pat ana Ron. March 15 Audrey and Don Morin also received an unexpected visit from Audrey's father, Genie Anderson, of Chicago who came out to spend the day with them, March 16 another unexpected visitor,' Audrey's brother Bob Anderson of Neenah, Wis., stopped in on his way to Chicago, he stayed for dinher and they all had a nice chat, Bob has been transferred to Chicago and is busy trying to sell his home in Wisconsin so they can move closer to Chicago which makes the Anderson clan very happy, Audrey has not seen Bob since Christmas. Don Morin's parents arrived March 19 from Chicago to help their grandson, Dale, celebrate his sixth birthday. They stayed until March 23 to enable Dort and Audrey to attend a reunion at the home of their friends, Duke and Jeanne Zigler of Arlington Heights. The other couple, John and Diana Witte of Lincolnwood, were on hand to celebrate. The three couples had not been together for over four years, and they really enjoyed the evening, catching up on all events. March 20, several friends of Dale Morin helped him celebrate his sixth birthday. The kiddies enjoyed cake and ice cream. Dale received many wonderful gifts this year for his birthday. Bob and Lorraine Hurckes will entertain Bob's parents, his sister, Pauline, and husband, A. J., and daughter Susan, and his uncle Mr. Dolby, all of Arlington Heights, for Easter Sunday dinner, Lorraine's mother, Mrs. Rix of Chicago, will arrive March 27 to spend the Easter weekend with the Hurckes. While here Mrs. Rix Will spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schulz, in Johnsburg. March 13, Archie and Meryl Fletcher -were surprised and most happy to welcome their son, Bob, home from college in Nashville, Tenn., Bob brought a boy friend with him and he enjoyed a few days with his parents and watched his brother Dave play in the basketball championship tournament at the Grant high school Bob took advantage of the in between semesters to get home. March 15, friends and relatives gathered at the open house held by Floyd and Vi Johnson in honor of their son, Lee, who left for Lakland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he will take his basic training in the Air Force. Lee was most anxious to get his hitch in service over with, so he could live his life without further interruption. Lee was thrilled with the big going away party and will take the memory of it with him in he rugged months ahead while in training. Charlie and Rose Schifferdecker and their sons spent Palm Sunday in Elmhurst at the home of Charlie's brother and family. March 18, Lil Orlowski was happy to have her sister, Nettie, and niece, Delores Flynn, of Trevor Wis., pay her and Leo a visit. Since Lil's health prohibits her from getting out her niece presented her with a permanent to make Lil look real pretty for Easter.
