Mel Griffeth, who spent a few days in the hospital this lqst week having a minor operation, is home now and doing just fine. Eastwood Manor ' Teen Club News There was a very good turnout at the St. Patrick's dance on March 14. Cathy Murray of McCullom Lake won the prize for the "wearin* of the most green". The featured drink of the evening was of course, lime soda, but other flavors were served also and the usual refreshments were enjoyed. A twist contest was held by unanimous request and again it was judged as a tie. The two couples who took the honors were Sue Betke of Eastwood Manor with Mike Moore of Lakemoor and Pat Henneberg of Lakeland Park with Dennis; Moore of Eastwood Manor. Special entertainment was provided by Cathy Ruth of McHenry. She sang some very lovely folk songs to the tune of her guitar. Good News The many friends of Jim Comstock of Wonder Lake, will be real happy to learn he hopes to return to his home this week. He recently underwent surgery in Rochester, Minn. He is really happy to be hearing from his friends in this area. Belated Greetings "Happy Birthday" wishes to John Smith -- even -though they are a little late. He turned 12 on March 20. duet with Becky Hughes and followed with some songs in which all the teens joined in. Mrs. H. Mueller, Mrs. F. Woodbury and Mrs A Filip of Eastwood Manor and Mr. and Mrs. D. Jascke of Crystal Lake who- along with Mr. and Mrs. G. Moore, the clubs counselors, served as chaperones for the evening. The regular business meeting was held on Monday; March 16. There were fifteen members present along with one pre-teen guest and the counselors. Three new members were welcomed at this meeting, first John Woodbury who has attended as a pre-teen guest in the past and then Ruth Poters and Josephine Thomas who arc new residents of Eastwood Manor. Committees were chosen for the next dance which was voted to be a Hard Times dance and is scheduled for April 11. Further plans for the trip to the Museum of Science and Industry were also discussed. Details will be announced at a later date. After all the business was settled and the meeting adjourned, a delicious whipped cream birthday cake and koolade were served in honor of several recent birthdays. Those honored in song were; Mike Sobaki, Mary Filip, Kevin Cary and both June and Roxanne Fuson. . During the little birthday party the teens also enjoyed some dancing to the juke box. The next regular business meeting will be on Monday, March 30 at 8 p.m. at the barn. Marilyn Smith. Events On The Way Please keep in mind the "Spring Fling" dance coming up on April 18 in the community club hall. This will be sponsored by St. John's Home and School association. Tickets are available from any of the members. Another date worth remembering is April 25. On this evening the annual "Ladies Night" banquet will be held in the community club. Avoid being disappointed and get your tickets soon. The T.N.T. league of the local bowling alley will hold the "end of the season" dinner in a restaurant south of McHenry on April 23 at 7 o'clock. Trophies and prize money will be distributed at this time. Fire Calls The firemen of station 2 answered a couple of calls this past week. One was a grass fire in Sunnyside -Estates. Late last Saturday evening a car in Pistakee Highlands caught fire and the firemen were called to extinguish it. The fire caused several hundred dollars damage to the car. Si. John's Holy Week Schedule Holy Mass on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were at 6:30 and 8 a.m. On Holy Thursday a low Mass will be read at 8:30 a.m. Mass of the Institution of the Holy Eucharist will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by Procession to the Repository and stripping of the Altars. The main service on Good Frid^y~_ssyll begin at 2 p.m. At 7^:30 p.m., stations of the cross. Holy Saturday, Vigil of Easter, services will begin at 10:45 p.m. On Easter Sunday the regular Mass schedule will be resumed. Confessions will be heard on Wednesday form 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, after the 8:30 a.m. Mass, from 4-5 and from T:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 - 11 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Please note -- No confessions will be heard on Holy Saturday evening. Mildred Snively, Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Kazmeirski of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Kloepfer of McHenry helped make it an enjoyable evening topped off by champagne for all. On Wednesday evening Daisy entertained the Mondrys who were celebrating their anniversary, Joe's birthday and son Peter's birthday. Wm, Alberts and son, Will, from Orchard Heights joined the fun. Thursday Daisy worked at the Goldwater headquarters in Woodstock. She is lining up a coffee hour to introduce the candidates for the coming election, more on this later. John and Daisy drove to Elmhurst Thursday night for a reception in honor of the National President of the VFW Auxiliary, Lillian Campbell from Wisconsin. On March 12 Daisy attended a benefit for Mental Health and Woodstock Fine arts and modeled for the affair. A book review was given by Van Sells on the "Long Run" was enjoyed by all. This all took place at the Woodstock Opera House. On Saturday Daisy will be going to Chicago to attend a luncheon in honor of the National President of the VFW given by the Dept. of Illinois Ladies auxiliary. This is at the Pick Congress in Chicago. Daisy has received a thank you card from Jacqueline Kennedy acknowledging her expression of sympathy sent to the Blessed Virgin Sodality and will be held in the community club hall. All proceeds of the afternoon will go towards furnishing our Good Sisters a new convent. Tickets can be purchased from any of the sodality officers. This is about all for this week. Carl "Stitfonsen Has Operation Carl- 'Kelly' Simonsen was rushed to Harvard hospital on Saturday for an emergency appendectomy and is coming along fine. He is now at home after only five days so you can't keep a good Warn down. His gall bladder was "also removed during the operation making it a double header. Hope by. the time this column comes out he is well on the road to recovery. Mrs. Jacek Loses Brother Our condolences and sympathy are extended to Mrs. Jacek, on the death of her brother, John Motylewski, who resided .in Michigan City^Ind. On Monday a brush fire started near his property and before it was put out 100 acres burned, the flames surrounded the house coming up to the door step. In the ensuing excitement Mr. Motylewski had a fa-' tal heart attack. He leaves a widow, Anna, one married son and three grandchildren, Jeff, Marsha and Laura. He was 67 years of age and had been re-: tired for some time.
