"The stench of the water and number of dead fish in the ri- <ver made visits to the Fox riveV region far from pleasant. "Leona S. SAVING LIVES MAJOR GOAL OF CANCER CRUSADE Saving lives needlessly lost to cancer is a major goal of the 1964 Cancer Crusade. Conquering cancer is made extremely difficlult because so many people fail to seek treatment even though they realize they have a danger signal, Roger Reichert, Crusade Chairman in McHenry county, said. Reichert said the 1964 McHenry County Cancer Crusade will be held in April, and the No. 1 goal will be saving those lives that are lost unnecessarily. The American Cancer society says it now is possible to save at least one out of two of those who develop cancer, but only one out of three actually is being saved. Prompt action by cancer victims saved 44,000 men and women in the United States who would have died of the disease had they developed it 10 years ago.
