We are going to celebrate Mother's Day and there will be prizes awarded in various categories, such as the mother with the youngest baby, grandmother with the most grandchildren, and so on. If anyone needs a ride, just give me a call 385- 4356, and we will arrange something. Hope we see many new faces. Our penny social was a huge success due to the good attendance and also the work done by Wilma Crane. Thursday, May 7, 8:30 p.m. -- Woman's Club Social and Mother's day party. Monday, May 11, 6:30 to 8, -- Girl Scouts. Tuesday, May 12, 6:30 p.m. -- Indian Dance Practice. 7:30 -- Boy Scouts. Scouts took part in the camporee and the following rtien who , worked so very hard, Scoutmaster Ed Druml. Committee Chairman, Jim Daurio, Morrie Ketchum, Bob King, Bill Kamp, Ass't. Scoutmaster Irv Becker and to Mr. Zalud and Mr. Florek who also helped by driving boys and gear out. Morrie Ketchum and Lloyd Wagner loaned their trucks. We all had a wonderful time and are real proud of our 4 new blue ribbons. Tuesday of this week we are to dance for the V.F.W. Respectfully, Paul Schwegel, Scribe. Clean Up Committee Your clean-i$> committee has selected Saturday, May 16 as Lakeland Park clean-up day. The main objective is to clear the debris from the vacant lots and rid our subdivision of as many eyesores as possible. If everyone would clean up their lot and one vacant lot nearby -- our goal will be accomplished. Everything that you Collect from the vacant lots Should be placed on one pile along the road for our regular pickup on Thursday. Birthday Wishes Happy birthday wishes go to Mimi Ladd and to Paul Brushaber who both share May 7 as their day, and to Louise,. Mc- Enery who celebrates on the 9th day of May. Girl Scouts We opened our meeting with the Pledge to the Flag, Our Promise, and the "Star Spangled Banner." We used our art In drawing pictures for a cover of a Girl Scout magazine. We had our treat. Then said goodby in our friendship circle. Maria Mecic, Scribe Boy Scout Troop 459 At last Tuesday's meeting we were given the instructions on how to reach the camporee and what to bring. Instruction periods were also held. At 8:30 our Scoutmaster, Mr. Druml: was very surprised when a birthday cake, gifts, cards, coffee and pop arrived in honor of his birthday. We left the Community House at 6 p.m. on Friday and spent Friday evening setting up our campsite in the rain. Saturday we competed in patrol projects and in having fun. Many parents came out to watch the bonfire and on Sunday the following parents all came out for the family picnic and awards, Bartos, Becker, Daurio, Druml, Belohalvy, Eckhart, DeMarco, Kamp, Wagner, Zalud, Ketchum, Fernstrom, Miller, King, George, and Matthews. In competition our subdivision can well be proud of their troop. Our patrols took 3 blue ribbons all among the top 10 of the 20 blue ribbons given out. As a Troop we also took a Blue ribbon. The troop's blue ribbon was for 71 h place. All the leaders and parents were very pleased and really let our with war howls when our troop number and patrols were called. Twenty-four of our troop's Happy Anniversary To Patricia and David Grandt who will celebrate their first anniversary on the 11th. Bundles From Heaven Lee and Ray Bujack, Jr., are the proud parents of their first child, a girl, born at Sherman Hospital on April 28. Robin Lynn weighed in at 6 lbs. 7 oz., and is 19 inches long. Her proud grandparents are Tee and Ray Bujak, Sr., of Lakeland Park. Lee and Ray are residents of Wonder Lake. Copgratulations to you all. Another pair of proud grandparents in the subdivision are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lanz whose daughter-in-law gave birth to a baby boy on April 28 at St. Ann's hospital in Chicago. Their baby was named Arnold Martin and Weighed in at 7V* lbs. Mrs. Lanz is taking care' of her grandson, Brian, until his mother gets back on her feet. cles in his side. Hope they mend real quick Ed. ' We have <many, many children who are recuperating from the 3 day measles, so we wish Johnny Meurer, Stevie Parisi, Leah Rode, Meg and Donna and Carole Humann get well wishes from the measles Strolling Through The Park Johnny Myers celebrated his eleventh birthday with a roller skating party, after which they came home and had refreshments. Bruce Okal and Jim Laursen were two from our £ybdivision who were confirmed at the 11 o'clock service, May 3, at the Community Methodist church. An informal reception with punch being served was held afterward to welcome the young people into the church. The Funks, Sue, Ron and their children, attended a farewell party in the "Big City" on Saturday. Sue's brother was guest of honor as he is entering the Army. We wish him the very best. It's real nice - seeing the lights on again at the McEnery home. They have lived in Florida during the winter while Mike attended his first year of college there. Welcome home and we both hope your" summer will be wonderful. Mary Daurio spent Sunday at her Alma Mater's silver jubilee at Providence high school. Many an hour was spent in remembering high school years and in comparing children's pictures. We'd like to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Oswald to our subdivision. The Oswalds are Kay's parents and recently returned from Southern Illinois to Evanston and have now taken up residence on Shore Hill Road. Hope their new home brings them nothing but the very best of everything. The B.W.W.G.S.'s Klub who had Bette and Bill Kamp and Kay and Ed Druml as charter members have been joined by ArS&ne ahd Frank Bartos/ Nedra and Les Eckhart and Carol and Morrie Ketchum. Bet they'll be joined by more as this group really has a ball. we hope Vera and George Baumgartner have a wonderful time on their trip to Texas to visit with their son and his family. Visiting with Jessie MattirSg# mmum hews last Monday, was her mother Ella Reid, and her sister, Fran Sandri, and her two children. The Meurer family, minus Rori and Johnny who had to stay home because of the measles, traveled down to Lombaid last Sunday to Barb's sister's home where the family celebrated Grandma Miller's birthday. Attending the Men's Club special dinner for their wives last Wednesday at the Community Methodist church were the Radisches, Piaseckis, Cranes, Kraskiewiczes, Hafers, and Delia Julian and Ann Herzog. I heard the dinner was delicious as usual and a wonderful program fcllowed. . Two baby showers in trap last week should certainly: make Bonnie and Pete Pari-' si's expected baby the best dressed baby around. Last Wednesday evening a shower was given by her cousin, Lenore Kessler, on the south side of Chicago. About twelve of her aunt:; and cousins attended. On Sunday afternoon, Mary Antrpenko was hostess for another shower for Bonnie with abo. i ..we've guests attending. Ann Herzog, Ivy sLezak and Delia Julian surprised Helen Kraskiewicz on Sunday with cake and coffee as an early surprise birthday party. The girls had 'gotten Helen some plants for her yard and wanted Helen to be able to get them planted before her natal day. As dinner guests at the Kwiatek home last Wednesday were Diane May from Chicago, grandma and grandpa Jecko, Connie, Ralph and young Mike Bostler. The dinner was in honor of Norbie's confirmation. Norbie's uncle, Ralph Bostler, was his sponsor. Tommy Linnane had Jim Daurio as his sponsor. The Daurios were dinner guests of the Linnane family. Delores, Jerry Rogers and their children went to Mt. Prospect on Suhday to attend \tthh(e first Communion of their Mr. and Mrs. Mass and Daughter Melinda took Donna Kwiatek to see the Lipizzaner horse show.
