Mrs. Fred Svoboda, president, was pleased to have members vote another contribution to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial garden in Springfield. The McHenry Garden club has been consistent in its efforts to enhance the beauty of this memorial. It wasv-also voted to contribute to the fund that provides jams and jellies for public institutions under the auspices of the Fruit and Flower guild. Mrs. George Johnson is the McHenry representative to this worthy organization. Many invitations to participate in flower shows in neighboring communities were received. It was emphasized by Mrs. Svoboda that there are memberships open to residents who are interested in gardening and who would like to join the club, which is affiliated with the Garden Clubs of Illinois. Membership leads to pleasant contacts and enjoyment of the many facets of this organization-- conservation, beaut ification, a study of gardening, and, for spiritual edification, charitable endeavors as they relate to the aims of the club.
