A • >v \ / l ' j ~~ r ^ r t * . . | Tuiiroua;> May 14« 1384 THE McHENHY PLAINDEALEk V.F.W. News by Bill Ablbnk V.F.W. Post 4600 held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 5, at the clubhouse. The meeting was changed from Monday due to the All-Sports banquet sponsored by the post, held that night. At this meeting, Boy Scout Troop 459 entertained the men with Indian dances. This troop is a group of thirty-two boys from the McHenry area who have studied Indian lore. They hand-made their own costumes which are detailed replicas of the original, complete with beading, fringe and feathers. Their performance was so good that the men decided to sponsor these boys and have them entertain the men at the various V.A. service hospitals. The boys also do a pantomine act to popular records. This is quite a versatile group. The post and auxiliary will hold a combined installation of officers on May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The affair is by invitation only. Ray Mann, Department National Home chairman, will be the installing officer for the men, assisted by Paul Chromek, who will be acting officer of the day. Gwen Timm, fifth district president, will be installing ofifcer for the women's auxiliary. Following the installation will ^e a dinner prepared and served by the ladies' auxiliary. Gene Dobyns, post quartermaster, presented Ernest Useman a check for $100 as our contribution toward the new library. Post 4600 sponsors three one week scholarships to the Egyptian music camp in Duquoin, Illinois. Walter Groth, representing post 4600, presented Ray Mettelka, Kathy Bolger and John Anderson, with these scholarships on May 8, during a special school assembly. The next post meeting will be held Monday, June 1, at 8 o'clock at the clubhouse. It's strange--many a young feller without a worry in the world -- goes out and marries.
