Defined by diagonal lines are the boundaries of each local precinct. Precinct 1 includes voters residing in McHenry township west of Rt. 31 (north of its intersection with Ringwood road, and west of Ringwood road and Draper road (south from intersection), and all voters residing in Greenwood township and Dorr township within the limits of the proposed district. They will vote at the Wonder Lake firehouse. Precinct 2 includes all voters residing in McHenry township east of the north-south line formed by Rt. 31, Ringwood road and Draper road, from intersection to intersection, and all voters in Nunda township within the proposed district. Voting will take place at the city hall. Precinct 3 includes all voters in Richmond township and Hebron township within the proposed district. Voting will take place at Memorial hall, Richmond. Precinct 4 includes all voters in Burton township, which will vote at the Spring Grove fire house. THE CONSERVANCY VOTE "There have been many reports that the river is becoming polluted. One of the problems of living in a community is the safe and healthful disposal of sewage. Cities and towns not on lakes or rivers are not tempted by the easy way out. This is a case ..of where that which is easiest turns out to be a temptation that brings ruin. "If our river becomes polluted to the point where there is an epidemic of sickness, or even to the point where there are rumors that this is possible, thousands of summer resorters will not come here, and industries searching for healthful communities for their workers will not "bring their new plants here. "All property values for miles around are adversely affected by water pollution. . "Water that flows cleanses itself within a mile, but due to the raising the water level four Xeet, the river no longer has a current. You could let Nature work for you. You could lower the dam and one mile of flowage would cleanse the river. The alternative is a sewerage disposal plant which may be costly, but would be a permanent asset. And the high water level desired by speed boats could be kept. k "I want to go on record as saying that whichever solution •is considered (this is. lowering the dam or a sewerage dispos al system) it is good to have an active and informed group of men watching our problem-- taking test samples of the water, checking on faulty cess pools, etc. "A river conservancy district, once formed, will be the seed for informed and watchful action. In case there is need for federal funds at some later date, this R.C.D. will be the nucleus organization to channel such aid to our community. We believe gambling to be a serious threat to the moral character of the nation. It often openly flouts the law, and results annually in an enormous drain on the economy of the country. Such a flouting of law and such an economic waste are indefensible in a nation built on law and order and committed to serving the public good. We are opposed to the practice of organization-sponsored gambling, a form of gambling that frequently uses Bingo as its format. We urge all organizations in the county now carrying on such illegal activities to stop them now. We request all law enforcement officials in the county to enforce the gambling statutes of Illinois. CHURCH SURVEY PROTEST "Dear Editor: "I was deeply disturbed and somewhat annoyed at the recent survey taken by various churches in this area. First of all, the Episcopal church was not notified of such a survey until it was all organized and begun. Secondly, but even more important was the gross misrepresentation of the Episcopal church by placing it in the category of being "Protestant" or "other." "I would like it to be understood by everyone concerned, that we are not "Protestant" but "Catholic," and Catholic in every sense of the word. The Roman Catholic holds no title or claim to being the only Catholic church in the world, and history bears out this fact very clearly. There are three parts of the Catholic church-- the Roman, Orthodox and Anglican (Episcopalian). The word "Protestant" does not mean the same today as it did back in the 1700's. Today it means "anti-catholic." And as I have said we are Catholic and I shall be happy to prove this to anyone interested. I would like to mention that this fact has been recognized by the World Council of Churches when the Episcopalian church was placed as a separate name in the list of churches which are members of this group. "Apart from the theological or historical reasons for my complaint, I felt that it was necessary to clear this point up in the minds of the people of this area. The Episcopal church has failed to emphasize its heritage as a part of the Catholic tradition -- and it is high time that Episcopalians started being what they truly are, and bearing witness to it by saying they are Episcopalians and not "Protestant" It is with deepest prayers, that at the next general convention of our church, that the word "Protestant" will be removed from the official name of the church.
