Thursday, May 14, 1964 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Page Ttawi i PROPOSED RIVER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT A River Conservancy District is a governmental unit created by the voters of a proposed district whose sole purpose is the establishment and preservation of CLEAN WATER. The five trustees who are appointed by the County Judges are required by law to devote the resources of the District to active programs designed to eliminate pollution, conrol floods and properly administer funds to the best advantage of the District. "The effective control of pollution involves both counties and unless both counties take action, the action by one county alofte would not solve the problem. This Conservancy District as proposed, from the evidence we have heard and discussed, constitutes a workable unit and . . . will solve a great problem or help to solve a great problem, that will affect and does affect now, all those within the proposed boundaries." From the Judges'-Decision, March 20, 1964 WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, APPROVE OF AND HEARTILY ENDORSE THE FORMATION OF THIS PROPOSED NORTH FOX VALLEY CONSERVANCY DISTRICT. IT IS HOPED THAT IT WILL SERVE AS AN INSTRUMENT OF POWERFUL ACTION IN THE PRESERVATION, CLEANING AND BEAUTIFYING OF OUR WATERWAYS IN THE DISTRICT, THE IMPACT OF WHICH WILL BE FELT IN THE ENTIRE AREA. THE SMALL COST OF THIS RIVER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT will b^tfi^SURANCE that something is being done for the preservation of our natural flow of waters in this area.
