Showers Honor v Miss Posthuma TWo recent showers were ' held, honoring Miss Georgiann " Posthuma, a bride of the near future. One, a miscellaneous shower, was given by Mrs. Gene Johnsop, Mrs Mort Hagen and Mrs. Frank Camasta at the home of the former. About twenty guests attended. The other, a personal shower, was given by . the bridesmaids, Joanne Genske, Suzanne Homo, 'i, Carol Hahn and Sandra Young, held at the Homo residence. Sixteen persons attended. Miss Posthuma will be married to Russell Hopp at St. Patrick's Catholic church June 13. Open House Will Honor George H. Johnsons In observance of their golden wedding anniversary, open house will be held at the Mc- Henry Country Club on Sunday, June 7, between 3 and 5:30 o'clock for Mr. and Mrs. George H. Johnson of 3805 W. Main street. Their many friends are invited to call and extend congratulations at this time. Baby Shower Honors Mrs. Pat Faunt Sandi Smith and Trish'a Weber were hostesses for a baby shower honoring Mrs. Pat Faunt. The party was held recently at the Weber home. The guests present included Karen Soda, Theresa Hettermann, Pepper Lopez, Donna Smith, Dee Giovannani and Gail Reid. The lovely gifts received are now being used by baby Suzanne Lin, who was born May 5 at the McHenry hospital. Mrs. Faunt was the former April Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Freund of Johnsburg. Christen Nystrom Baby Sunday The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nystrom, Sr., was christened Gerald James, Jr., at St. John's Catholic church, Johnsburg, last Sunday by Rev. John Dording. Acting as sponsors were Mrs. Bergstrom and James Thelen. Following the ceremony dinner was served to a group of relatives and friends. Guests included the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thelen, Pistakee Bay, and the paternal ones, Mr. and MES. George Nystrom of Burton's Bridge. The baby was born April 9 at McHenry hospital and his mother is the former Beverly Thelen. Honor Patty Brennan After Confirmation Patty Brennan, daughter^of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brennan was one of the ninety-five boys and girls Confirmed by Bishop Loras Lane last Monday evening in St. Patrick's church. Patty's grandmother, Mrs. Joe Schmitt was her sponsor. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmitt of McHenry and Loren Harrison of Ringwood were supper guests. Following the Confirmation, cake was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Schmitt, Loren Harrison and Mr. and Mrs. James Wegener and family. GARDEN CLUB CONTINUES TO MAKE GROWTH An unusually large group met for the May meeting of the McHenry Garden club at Pistakee Golf club on Wednesday. This included about ten guests, seven of whom made application for membership and were accepted. Welcomed back to the fold were former members, Mrs. Milton Smith and Mrs. Marshall Leonard. Mrs. Fred Svoboda, president, had the agenda well organized that, and with her enthusiasm and efficiency in conducting the meeting, an unusual number of decisions and plans were made. Mrs. George Johnson reported on her attendance at the Fruit and Flower guild luncheon meeting. She related the plans for the guild for expanding its facilities to bring cheer to settlement houses and hospitals. Mrs. Svoboda was able to complete arrangements for the traditional July card party given by the club. Harvard Hospital Mrs. Arthur Marino, Mrs. John Hay and Lloyd Duncan of McHenry were patients during the past week at Harvard hospital. Give Theatre- In-The-Round The McHenry Country Art Fair is pleased to present a new feature in their annual showing to be held this year on June 19, 20 and 21 at the McHenry Junior high school. This special feature will be theatre-in-the-round, with Ann Varese directing a Broadway comedy, "Send Me No Flowers", for the adult Saturday evening performance at 8:30 p.m., "Tom Sawyer", Mark Twain's delightful classic, for two children's matinees Sat- ED WITTROCK urday and Sunday at 3 p.m. Starring in the riotous comedy, "Send Me No Flowers" are Yvonne Matt and Ed Wittrock, as Judy and George Kifnball. It will also feature ir^ the cast Lee Moses as Vito; Larry Ekeroth as Bert Powers; Stan Blumberg as Dr. Morrissey; Bill John as Arnold Nash and John Leighty as Mr. Akins. The premise of the show is based on the fact that George Kimball is a fullblown hypochondriac and deals with his illusions and delusions steming from this problem. JERRY BOEHM INSTALLED NEW PTA PRESIDENT The McHenry County Council of Parent-Teachers association held its installation of officers at Oak Knoll school, Cary, Thursday evening, May 21. Willard Carlson, director of District 26, Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers, installed the new officers who included Mrs. Jerry Boehm of McHenry, President; Mrs. Lorraine Kerschke of Harvard, vice-president; Mrs. Fran Kirchoff of Harvard, secretary; and Len Buresh of Fox River Grove, treasurer. Mrs. Minerva Sengenberger, district study course chairman, presented a workshop on programming. Mrs. Martha Keepper, past district director, and Mrs. Genevieve Welton, past district publicity chairman, offered the publicity workshop, and Mrs. Fran Fago showed a film and discussed parlimentary procedure. Mrs. Norma Douglas, secretary to the district director and past president of the Lake County council, offered to present a workshop for secretaries in the future. Carmon Hodges, President, Mrs. Allen R. Dimon, Secretary, and Mrs. Jack Cooper, Treasurer, attended as representatives of the McHenry Community High School PTA. The therae this year is "Around the World with Christ." Children are invited to attend if they ha^e completed the first grade. Registration should be made before June 8 with any Sunday School teacher at the Bible church from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be Bible stories, songs, handicrafts and games. DONALD DOWE TO GET MASTER'S DEGREE JUNE 13 Donald Eugene Dowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dowe of 1412 N. Richmond Road, McHenry, will graduate June 13 with his master's degree from the Jane Adams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Urbana. He is a graduate of McHenry high school and in 1961 of Illinois Wesleyan Bloomington. Riverside Drive Phone 385-0841 * OlituarieA BEATRICE HIPPCHEN A funeral Mass was sung Saturday at 9:30 in St. John's church, Jphnsburg, for Mrs. Philip (Beatrice) Hippchen, 47, of 705 W. Oeffling drive, McHenry. Mrs. Hippchen died May 20 in St. Joseph hospital, Chicago, following a long illness and seventeen days spent in the hospital. She was born April 21, 1917, in Chicago and had resided in the McHenry area for the past eight years. Survivors are the widower and two sons, Fredrick and Steven, at home. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home until the time of last rites. LORRAINE SCHULTZ Miss Lorraine Schultz, 30, died unexpectedly at her home at 369 Merchant Street, Kankakee, May 23. She was the only child of George and Lillian (Janecek) Schultz of 320 N. Glenwood Avenue, Lilymoor, McHenry. For the past 10 months Miss Schultz had worked as a registered nurse in St. Mary's hospital, Kankakee. Before that she had lived with her parents. Previous to that she had been in a convent for nursing nuns in DesPlaines for about 7 years. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen and Son Funeral home until 10 o'clock Wednesday when services were held at St. Patrick Catholic church. Burial was in the church cemetery. CARL O. WAGNER Carl O. Wagner, 63, husband of the late Dolle M. Hickey Wagner, died in Milwaukee, Wis., on May 20. An engineer for the Sanitary district of Chicago, he made his summer home in this community. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Dolores M.) Hodgson; one grandson, Randall Carl; and three brothers and sisters, George, Gladys Van Buskirk and Edwin. Two sisters, Elsie Beneke and Helen Bultman, and a brother, Otto, preceded him in death. Services were held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Matz funeral home, 3440 N. Central, with interment in All Saints cemetery. FRANK KOSTKA An illness of several months ended in death Monday, May 25, for Frank Kostka, 1711 N. Flower street, Lakeland Shores. Mr. Kostka was 63 years old, born Sept 2, 1900 in Czechoslovakia. He had lived here about 6 years and had been a partner with his brother in an auto parts sales company in Chicago. Among his survivors is his wife, Frances. Local arrangements were made through the Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home and the body was removed to the Linhart Funeral home, 6820 Cermak Road, .{Serwyn, where services were held. ANTON LENNERT Anton Lennert, 81, a twelveyear resident of McCullom Lake, died in Ravenswood hospital Sunday night, May 24, after a lingering illness. For the past four years, he and his wife, Katherine, have been living in Chicago. Mr. Lennert was born June 14, 1882, in Austria-Hungary and came to this country in 1906. He became a naturalized citizen in 1940. Other than two years, in New York, he resided most of his life in the city of Chicago and was employed in construction business and for the Horween Tannery company. He retired in 1949 because of poor health. During the years the Lennerts lived in McCullom Lake they were active in all civic endeavors and worked to promote the growth and improvement of the community. The deceased rested at the William Herdegen funeral home, Chicago, until Wednesday morning, when Mass was recited at Queen of Angels church at 10 a.m. Burial was in a Chicago cemetery. In addition to his widow, Katherine, he is survived by his son, John, and daughter, Mrs. Regina Buri; sister, Magdalene Spezel; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, all of Chicago. CLINTON MEEItS Last rites were held in Washington, Pa., last Thursday for Clinton Meeks, 60, brother of Sgt. Kenneth Espey of the McHenry police force. Mr. Meeks died the previous Monday. ALBINA SIKORA Albina Sikora, 84, of Riverside, 111., who had been confined to the Villa Nursing home for the past four years, died Tuesday, May 26. The body was taken to the George R. Justen & Son funeral home and then transferred to the Marik chapel at 6507 W. Cermak road, Berwyn. CARL J. JOHNSON Carl J. Johnson, 76, of 1948 Rainbow Drive, Clearwater, Fla., died Saturday evening, May 23, at Morton Plant hospital in Clearwater. Mr. Johnson was a frequent visitor in McHenry in the home of his son, Donald. Survivors include his widow, Tekla West Johnson, of Clearwater, two sons, C. Robert Johnson of McHenry, and two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Doris) Schultz of Chicago and Mrs. Gordon, (Norma) Lowden of Tampa, Fla., ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. NEW SOCIETY At Huntley American Legion home on Wednesday evening, the organization of La Societe De Femme (Cabane 578) was formed and officers elected for the coming year. ATTENDS GRADUATION Mrs. Katherine Paddock attended graduation exercises at Rockford School of Business and Engineering recently. Her grandson, Kenneth Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald M. Paddock, graduated from the junior accounting course and received a diploma. A 1960 graduate of Wauconda high school, Kenneth will continue studying at the Rockford school, majoring in accounting and finance. HAIRDRESSERS MEET The Illinois Hairdressers and Cosmetologists will meet Wednesday, June 3, at 8 p.m. at Campbell's Hearthstone restaurant.
