Not just club members, but all "the women of Holiday Hills were contacted for donations. The response was wonderful. As a result of the splendid cooperation and hard work of Vi Abbink, chairman of the sale, her committee, and all who baked, the sale was a huge success. The proceeds of the sale will be used for the contribution of the ladies for the dam to be built between the lake and the river channel, and the remainder of the money will go for recreational facilities for our young people. Vi's hard working committee members were Charis Ary, Gerry Breede, Phyl Harper, Earline Mettelka, Joan Schroeder and Mickey Walters. more interesting and appetizing for our families, so I'm sure you will find the evening most interesting. Bring your friends along, each person attending will be given printed recipes. The meeting will be held at the home of Vi Wyczesany at 2605 Tower Drive at 7:45 p.m. Swimming Lessons Be sure to watch this column for information, coming soon, on the swimming lessons to be held at the lake beach this year. Kasual Kapers and Breakfast In the event you missed last week's column because you were busy, or you have just plain forgotten because of other activities, let me remind you, lest you miss out on a good time, about Kasual Kapers, the annual spring dance sponsored by the Holiday Hills Property Owners Association will be held a week from Saturday on June 13 at the Shady Hill Community House. The following morning, Sunday, June 14, do yourself a favor, and go out for breakfast. Pack the kids in the car and drive over to Raven's farm for breakfast outside, prepared as only they can, by the boys of the Griswold Lake Athletic Club. Mmmmmm, I can smell the sausage and bacon cooking already. Invitation To A Food Demonstration Holiday Hills Woman's Club takes pleasure in inviting all ladies interested, to a food demonstration presented by Ruth J. Williams on Wednesday, June 10. Dishes for hot summer days, along with foreign dishes and herb cookery will be featured. All of the women are interested in making summer cooking easier as well as Garden Club The Garden Club of Holiday Hills met at the home of Gerry Breede on Wednesday, May 27. The group discussed summer activities and a membership drive to be held in the fall. If you are interested in joining the group at that time, why not contact one of the members and let them know of your intention. Birthdays Mark Jende Mark Jende, who was 7 years old on May 20, celebrated in a big way on Sunday, May 24, with a party at Hawthorne Melody Farms Zoo. After viewing all the animals, each boy enjoyed a train ride and then all went out to eat. Enjoying the wonderful day were Keith Teuber, Robert Sunby, Bobby McWilliams, Roy Breede along with Mark's sister and brother, Leslie and Ricky. Scott Musolf May 20 marked the fifth birthday for Scott Musolf who had twelve guests on hand, May 25, for a party to celebrate being 5 years old. Scott's little friends enjoyed games followed by supper which included hot dogs and all that goes with it to make it a party. Attending the party were Judy Abbink, Linda Born, Johnsburg YOUNG GIRL FORESTERS PLAN COOKOUT JUNE 8 Betty At the next regular meeting of the juvenile girl Foresters, a cookout will, take place - on the community club grounds beginning at 6:30 p.m. Each member attending is to bring their own hot dogs or hamburgers, buns, silverware, plates and whatever else they think will be used on this evening. A small fee of ten cents will be collected from each girl to defray pop cost. Various games have been planned by the directors to keep the girls busy prior to the cooking time. The evening will draw to a close at 8:30 p.m. Parents are reminded to be there at this time to pick up their daughters. The Anna family came to us from Camden, New York. We artl join in bidding them a warm welcome and hope their stay is long and happy. The six week old son of Wally and Phyllis Kalemba underwent surgery at the McHenry hospital last week. We sincerely hope this is the end of this little fellow's troubles. I'm sure Mark's twin sister, Karen, is anxiously awaiting his arrival home. Time moves quite stowly. when you are young or so they think at this time. •These same youngsters will be wondering soon where did their time go also. Make the most of each day as it comes. You can never go back and relive the past so do the best with the time you have today. Please keep in mind that next Sunday, June 7, the new Mass schedule for St. John's church goes into effect. The Masses on Sunday will be at 6:30, 8, 9:30, 10:45 and 12 noon. Fun Filled Weekend Pete and „ Marge "got away from it all" over last weekend. They spent this time with some friends aboard their boat where lots of fishing was on the agenda. Marge's folks were the "good samaritans" who kept a watchful eye on the children. Weekend Visitors Joe and Clara Adams were real happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Nick Miller'of Milwaukee as their house guests over the holiday weekend. Also enjoy- Ihg the Adams hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. John Paylowski of Ingleside and Mr. and Mrs. Art Thelen. Wishes Extended To All Graduates The time of year is here again when many of our young people are graduating from various schools. To each and everyone of them we hope the future holds lots of good fortune for them. May they be blessed with the realization of their respective dreams. Parent^ of these young people find it hard to believe their children can be that far already. Somehow these precious years have a way of sneaking up on us. I'm sure each parent has found that to be true at sometime or other. These young graduates will soon be learning this for them- Holtday Tragedy Our heartfelt sympathies .are ^tended to John Bode who lost his grandson, Jack Rogers of Chicago, very suddenly Over last weekend. The sixteen year old lad was riding out here on his bike Saturday when be was struck by a car near Wauconda and was killed instantly. Funeral services were Conducted in the city Tuesday afternoon. Californlans Visit Here Sam and Pat Tomasello are enjoying the company of Sam's folks from California for an extended time. While here the senior Tomasellos are visiting other relatives and friends in this vicinity. The Tomasello family is quite large so they are kept on the go almost con- Ringwood LARGE CROWD ATTENDS ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC Lor Last Sunday, despite the rather cool breezes, there was an extra large turnout at the annual community club picnic. The families were pretty well represented. After filling up on all the goodies, there was a terrific ball game. The married tinuously. We hope they have themselves a real "ball" while they are here. Holy Name Society News Remember the Holy Name meets Tonight (Thursday) in the Community club hall. New officers will be installed at this time. All members are invited to participate at this meeting. I think on Monday, there were some pretty stiff bones among some of the players, but they sure had some fun. Mrs. Mecklenberg rounded up the younger set and had races and other games as well. Around 3:30 the crowd seemed to head for home. Happy and tired. A School Out Of Session For Summer Some are happy and some not, Why? By the time you read this column, the Ringwood boys and girls are home from school books, etc., for the summer. This is also a time to remind young ones that driving ;the bikes on the roads can be a danger to cars. So please, inform your boy or girl to be careful when pedaling the bikes, and also to drivers of cars. Beware of these youngsters on bikes. Let's keep each and every one of us here for more living. O.K.? Park Cleaners In case many of you folks have been wondering who cleaned up our park, I'll tell you. First of all, the main high weeds and grass were cut with a tractor and rotary mower. Then, Lou Hawley, J. C. Pearson, Floyd Howten, John Klapperich, Bob and Charles Brennan cleared the rest of the debris. The flag was put up by Bobby Brennan on Memorial day, but not as high as usual, due to the pole sinking a little with the last wind storm. Thatl will be remedied soon. ' ^ In case I missed anybody, I'm sorry. I believe there it a local organization going to hit* somebody to keep it up. I'll let you know later. Mrs. Joe Schmitt of McHenry was a supper guest on Friday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brennan. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nordgren of Waukegan were callers in the Wiedrich-Wegener home on Friday afternoon. Doris Low entertained a group of ladies for dessert and coffee oh Friday afternoon. It was a thank you to the ladies who served the hot dogs and barbecues on Wednesdays at noon for the school youngsters. On Friday afternoon I visited my dad, Joe Schmitt, in the McHenry hospital, where he was a patient for a few days. Well, this is a kinda' short column. No news to report.
