An ek^ellent representation of membership attended. " s# Commander Steve Kreief ... called the meeting to order. Colors were posted, and tbe$v, the meeting was turned over to Squadron Chairman Mel Grijjfr feth, who proceeded to formal ,, late the platoon system, platoon leaders will be appointed at the next regular meeting. May being a most active" month, there were many irtw portant issues to be discussed. Included were helping the vet-* erans with poppies on Poppy day. the memorial day parade and services, and the bat- * sic planning of the installation of the 11th district detachment officers at the convention next month. Commander Kreier is to be installed as second vide commander of the district. There will also be two buglers from McHenry squadron, who will be represented in the lltb district detachment. With the organization of platoons, each platoon will present their own activities program for that age group, and a combined activity will be pre-t sented periodically for the entire squadron. The squadron is always accepting new applications for . membership and will continue to do so. We have no numeral , limit at this time, and do net anticipate any. Secretary of State Willis H. Chamberlain has advised linois motorists planning vacation trips to the New York World's Fair to be sure no one under 18 years of age does any driving in New York City or in Nassau county in New Yorl| state. New York law prohibits anyt one under the age of 18 from driving in those two areas, even thoug he may hold <£ valid driver license from hill home state and be accompanied by a licensed driver over 18 years of age, Mr. Chamberlain said. Authorities have been strict in the past in enforcing thai provision of New York law, and there, has been ho indica« tion that a different policy will be followed during the World's Fair, Secretary Chamberlain said. Motorists planning to driv* to ^Caqada. during the coming vacation months are being reminded that proof of outomo^ bile liability insurance is re? quired in most of the Canadian provinces. In certain accident cases that might occur in Canada, U. S. motorists unable to show proof of insurance would be subject to suspension of their driver's license or possible impounding of their automobile. BUSINESS LEADER GIVES REASON FOR PLANT LOCATION The president of one of thft nation's leading electronics manufacturing firms, discussing* plant location criteria, said his company wants only to settle in places "where the townspeople are aggresive in doing things for the community." Addressing more than 500 businessmen, local chamber of commerce officials and civic leaders from throughout Illinois, Gene K. Beare, president of Sylvania Electric Products Inc., New York City, outlined the economic, political and cial assets necessary in "Tlyi Town in Which We Want id Build a Plant." 4y. Beare was main speaker at A day-long industrial develop ment conference, held in Peof« ia by the Illinois State Chains ber of Commerce. '•* I HIRED IT IHR0U6H1HI HAD
