It was an investiture for our new girls. Every girl brought something to share. We closed our meeting with our friendship circle. Maria Mecic Scribe. Last Thursday the Girl Scouts enjoyed the carnival in a group with their leaders, Maureen Johnson and Dorothy Dowel). Then on Saturday they took an all day trip to the Brookfield Zoo. Mrs. Dowell, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Humann and Mrs. Gladman drove the girls there. A little bit of excitement occurred when Mrs. Johnson's son, Mike, wandered away and got lost. About 30 minutes, later they found him in the administration office. On the way out of the zoo they came across an independent movie studio shooting some scenes for a movie. It proved to be a very enjoyable day for all the girls. Special Notice Swimming Registration Next Wednesday, June 17, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., there will be registration for swimming lessons down at the lake beach. Once again, these lessons are offered thru the efforts of the Holiday Hills Woman's Club. It takes a great deal of time, work and effort on the part of the women who volunteer to take this job over. First, there's the job of finding a qualified instructor, (no easy task) and hiring him or her, then the countless hours spent contacting parents, registration at the beach, records to be kept on students permission slips, qualifications and hours spent in the water so that they can receive the proper certificates. In order to ease their burden just a little, we ask that each mother be willing to give a few hours during the course of the swimming lessons to help watch the children in the water. Youngsters must be AV2 years of age to register. Lessons will begin the first week in July. For further information call Jimmie Justes, 385-5401, Gerry Breede, 385-3131 or,Charis Ary, 385-4098. Ooptt, Sorry • My h u m b l e a p o l o g i e s t o Chuck Brandt, Barbara Anderson. Janice Carlson and John Wat kins whose names I missed on the list of junior high graduates last week, and to Mike Krueger, who graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School. I must have been half asleep when I checked the list, and I failed to check with my local junior high authority. Late, but sincere best wishes to these young people. Cancer Crusade This news item is late, but there were still a few envelopes that had not been returned from outlying areas, until last week. Vi Abbink was chairman of the Cancer Crusade in the whole south end of McHenry. Orchids to Vi who put in many, many hours for the crusade and the gals from Holiday Hills who collected locally and some of the surrounding area. They were Gerry Postal, Renee Jende, Midge Teuber and Inez Young. Cheerful Bouquets A great big bouquet of cheer to shut-ins Charles Patz, Ed Janik and a new name on the sick list, my neighbor, Jim Dowhin, Jr. Hope you are all feeling better this week. Our house was a hub-bub of activity last weekend as we saw our Gail graduate from high school mid tears and laughter, friends and relatives and a special bouquet of red roses and then the next night almost the same thing again as we saw our April graduate from junior high. Mixed emotions run high as you see your children cross the threshhold from one phase of life to anothef, and pray for their future. !?wm wilw ••• v ***** RECOGNITION DINNER JUNE 21 FOR J. C.
