Baseball In Full Swing If you haven't gotten into the swing of things yet--what are you waiting for? I'm referring to the baseball swing. There is so much baseball being played throughout the week it's a shame if you don't get out to see some of the games. If you prefer hard ball or Softball, both are available. The Tigers play just about every Sunday and there is all kinds of softball played through the week at the V.F.W. diamond. Please let's not forget our little leaguers either. They also have many games during the week. Be sure to see a few games real soon and lend your support to the local teams. In Attendance At Funeral Services Richard and Catherine Dehn and Betty Hettermann were in Woodstock last Thursday afternoon to attend funeral services of their aunt, Mrs. Tony (Myrtle) Oertel of Carperitersville. Be Wise Use The Classifieds COMPLETE NEW BUILDING CODE FOR ALL SCHOOLS Ray Page, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, has announced that a new building code covering both new construction and the revsion and renovation of existing Illinois school buildings, has been completed. The code consists of two manuals. The first, "Efficient and Adequate Standards for the Construction of Schools," specifies standards applicable to all phases of new school construction, and the second, "Building Specifications for Health and Safety in Public Schools," is designed as a guide for the revision and. renovation of existing school facilities. The code represents minimum standards that incorporate areas of heating, lighting, ventilation, water supply, toilet facilities and safety against fire. The specifications establish reasonable standards for new construction and existing buildings for the life safety of the pupils at a minimum cost to the district. They apply to all school districts except the city of Chicago which is covered by Article 34 of the Illinois School Code. Page sSid, "In addition to Our Lady of Angels Fire, the 1960 case of 'Molitor vs Kaneland Community Unit School District,' has placed every school board, school administrator, and school superintendent in a position of legal jeopardy unless they can be shown to comply in full with the established standards."
