Post 4600 has been busy on the inarch again. On Saturday, June 20, they marched in the Miss Elgin parade in Elgin. On the twenty-sixth they will be in Springfield at the V.F.W. state competition. On the Fourth of July they will be In three different parades, Lake Bluff, Highland Park and Evanston. ~ On July 5 they wil be in the parade in Mundelein. They are also looking forward in the Polish Legion parade in Milwaukee, Wis., which for the first time is for open competition. This will take place In September. The team is raising funds to make the trip to Cleveland, Ohio, for the VFW national competition. The team has new uniforms of gold satin. Here's hoping you come back home with top trophies and top hon» ors. Seems "Kathy was coming home from work a week ago Monday when she stopped in traffic, whereupon an auto coming up behind failed to stop. Happy to know that Kathy is O.K. outside of being "shook up" and sore. Trip To Bis City Harry, Lil, and Sharon Neumann went in to Chicago last Sunday to the graduation party of Harry's cousin, James Chrisos. James finished 8 years of hard study and Is now ready for high school. And Away We Go . . . Ruth Young left for Pittsburg, Pa., where she will spend a week helping her cousin, Mr. and Mrs. William Sands, celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Pittsburg is Ruth's home town so it will be like old home week. There's a birthday to celebrate, and Ruth's youngest brother, Morrow Woodburn, had surgery performed so she will be visiting with him also. Theron Young is keeping the home fires burning by having the twins come out to visit and help him keep house! Understand several fishing trips have been planned. Getting Around Ida^egge is a gal that really gets around . She drove over to her sister's in Elmhurst, then drove to Berkley, where they had dinner. From there she went on to Broadview where she spent the night with her neice, Esther Peterson. Visitor From Afar Ernie and Ettie Zundel of Lakemoor had the pleasure of having Ernie's brother, Fred Zundel, stay with t|em for awhile. Fred comes from Wickenburg, Ariz., where he has a 250-acre ranch. Ernie's sister, Mrs. Lawrence, of Skokie also spent a few days here. Ernie and Ettie also have an anniversary coming up on June 21. Another Happy Year Gone By Marion and Hal Vornkahl will celebrate Hal's birthday June 27 and their third anniversary June 24 with a party on Sunday, June 28. Helping them celebrate will be the Lambrecht family, Marion's father and two sisters from Chicago. Sailing, Sailing . . Cloudy, rainy, windy weather did not dampen the adventuresome spirit of the Sewing class girls. They still went out on the Johnson yacht last Monday afternoon. Those having cake, coffee and enjoying themselves in style were Pearle Stineman, Ettie Zundel, Marge Polinski, Eunice Tobey, Lil Wijas and the skipper, Connie Johnson. GOP WOMEN PREPARE FOB FALL ELECTION On June 16, the McHenry County Republican Central committee met with the McHenry Women Republicans to hear Mrs. Lucinda Wanner, vicechairwoman of the State Central" committee, present an informative program on precinct organization. A filled roOm at the Methodist church in McHenry heard Mrs. Wanner predict the end of the two-party system in Illinois if the Republican party lets the Cook county machine take the election as they did in 1960. She pointed out that the 1960 election was lost by less than one vote per precinct. After the meeting J. R. Levesque, Republican county chairman, summed up the fighting mood of the Republicans by stating that McHenry county would lead the way to a Republican victory in the fall. BOAT OWNERSHIP The rowboat stolen last week from Peter W. Kapp of Zion was actually the property of Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Padgitt of 1208 West Bay road, McHenry, from whose property it was taken. She is trying to get some of the older children who can swim a little, or think that they don't need lessons. Living so close to the water, it seems as if there are many things to be learned. Audrey has talked to Mayor Doherty about the condition of the river and he told her that it has been tested and is in fine condition, better than it has been in a long time; also, the algae is from the seaweed and is in4 no way harmful to the children. Lindwall is in charge of operations down at the beach and his co-workers are Marshall Jacobs, Dale Jenner, Leon Zelvis and D. H. Wilsman. s The boys on duty on the fourteenth wish to have it known that they were on duty 100 per cent and got all the grass cut and everything raked and in tip-top order. Musielak, Lexow, Corcoran, Wilson and McDermott put in some hard work and Matt Zeimet cut the grass on the right side of Beach drive; also, Matt was in charge of the bridge over the creek and got the cement in last Saturday and Sunday. Petersens Welcome Son Bob and Pat^'Retgrsen have been blessed with a little boy, named John David, weighing in at 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 inches in length. He was born on May 23 and arrived at the Petersen house on June 11 to the delight and joy of his new parents. On Tuesday evening, Nancy Ewald gave a surprise shower for the newcomer and some of the members of the Sewing club. Friends and neighbors from the Shores and Rolling Meadows popped in to bring a gift for Johnny, as he is already being called. Good Luck with the little one and may he be healthy and happy and bring you much joy. Leaves for Europe Pat Simonsen was one of the lucky sixteen pupils from McHenry high to be chosen for a six-week trip to France and other countries in Europe. They will depart from .New York on June 21 on a journey arranged by the Foreign Lan- Kuage League of Salt City, Utah, through the foreign language department of McHenry high. The first stop will be London, where they will visit for three days and see Shakespeare's "Richard the Second" in Stratford-on-Avon. Going by boat to Paris, they will have four days of sight seeing, an excursion to Versailles and an opera performance. Numerous weekend trips will follow, one to the Swiss National Fair at Lausanne, the Riviera and Rome. Pat wil^> return to New York on Aug. 6, some of the students remaining to get a few days in at the World's Fair. Well it sounds like a busy and exciting summer for Pat and we all wish her a safe and wonderful time. Odds and Ends Kelly's sister, and her husband, Diane and George Paean, visited the Simonsens on Saturday and all had a juicy steak to enjoy.
