ANTHONY (iEIST Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Geist observed their golden wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 24, the day starting with an 8 o'clock Mass in St. Patrick's Catholic church. The Geists have resided in McHenry for the past ten years. They have two children, Mrs. George Posthuma of McHenry and Mrs. Walter Genske of Chicago; also six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Miller, a "Happy Father's Day" on Sunday. Mrs. Velma Douglas returned Monday from a week's visit in the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Miranti and family in Carbondale, 111. A nuptial rite uniting In marriage Miss Beverly Sandra Grote and Mr. Robert A» Har* ris was solemnized in St. Patrick's Catholic church at 10 o'clock last Saturday, June 20, by Rev. Eugene Parker. Miss Grote is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Grote of 5012 Home avenue, Lakeland Park, and Mr. Harris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Harris of Lakeland Shores. Mrs. Carl Weber was organist for the ceremony, solemnized in a church decorated for the occasion with bouquets of white summer flowers and ribbons on the pews. The pretty, young bride chose a peau de soie taffeta, chapel length dress, styled with demure neckline, fitted bodice *and long, pointed sleeves. There was an imported lace motiff appliqued on the front, and irridescent sequins and pearls appliqued on the bodice and front of the full skirt. Her shoulder length veil was attached to a three-cluster arrangement of organza roses trimmed in seed pearls* and she carried a cascade bouquet of small Amafcon lilies and stephanotis, with a touch of pink tearoses. Acting as maid of honor was Miss Ellen Wells of Lakeland Shores, a close friend. Bridesmaids were Miss Cynthia Grote, her sister, Miss Cheryl Witt rock and Miss Katie Stamper, friends. The attendants wore organza over taffeta, floor length dresses, the maid of honor in green and the others in copen blue. The simple dresses were topped with sleeveless capes adorned by small round pins of pearls and rhinestones, gifts of the bride. Their crowns of pearls were interwoven with net in the same color as their dresses, holding two-tiered veils. They carried cascade bouquets of gardenias with ivy. Deborah Leone of Crystal Lake, a cousin of the bride, was the charming flower girl, wearing a copen blue dress similar to the adult attendants, and carrying a colonial bouquet of white roses. Raymond Franklin, of Lakeland Park served as best man and groomsmen were Don Harris, the groom's brother, Jim Kujak and Tony Mogaen, both of Lakeland Park anp friends of the groom. / ' Mrs. Grote chose/ for her daughter's wedding a white lace over pink sheath dress, with small balero. She had pink accessories and a pink tearose corsage. Mrs. Harris wore a blue sheath, trimmed with iridescent sequins, white accessories and a white rose corsage. An evening reception at the Legion home was attended by 250 guests. The couple left Sunday for the "Smoky Mountains, where they will spend two weeks before returning to set up housekeeping in McHenry. , The bride graduated this June from McHenry high school and the bridegroom completed his education there in 1962. The church was decorated for the occasion with baskets of glads on the altar and white bows at the pews. Pretty Miss Lindwall wore a white silk organzo dress over taffeta, trimmed with re-embroidered alencon lace flowers with seed pearls. It was styled with portrait neckline, braclet length sleeves and back fullness, accented with a cabbage rose at the waist and ending in a chapel train. Her headpiece was heart-shaped, with a bow back, trimmed with lilies of the valley and pearls. It held in place a bouffant veil of imported English silk illusion. Miss Lindwall carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids and spider mums. Miss Ann Wickstrom of Waukegan acted as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Pam Munroe and Miss Judy Keim of McHenry and Miss Sandra Igler of Chicago. They were attired in georgette over taffeta, floor length gowns in crystal aqua color. They were fashioned along empire lines, with flowing fullness in the back, and waist accented by a band of blue flowers, ending in ttqbow at the back. Their headpieces were leaves in crystal aqua and they had drop pearl necklaces and earrings to match, gifts from the bride. Cascade bouquets with yellow and white daisies, tied with aqua ribbon, completed the ensemble. John Colomer, brother of the groom, Daniel Adams, Jack Walsh and John Baumgartner of McHenry were attendants for the groom. Ushers were James Thelen and Ronald Tonyan of McHenry. The bride's mother selected a blue organza over taffeta dress, with matching coat and accessories, and a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Colmer wore a beige lace dress, matching jacket and accessories and a white orchid corsage. Following the wedding, twenty- one members of the bridal party enjoyed breakfast at the Johnsburg Community club, where 200 gathered at 5 o'clock for an evening reception. Following a trip to the New York World's Fair, Boston and Vermont for two weeks, the newlyweds will be at home at 1900 River Terrace drive, McHenry. The bride is a graduate with the class of 1962 from McHenry High school, and attended Northern Illinois university. The groom graduated in 1958 from the local high school and served in the Navy. Both are employed locally. One can patch a shirt or overalls or a reputation, but it's hard to keep it from showing. Schmitt of Clover avenue, Edgebrook Heights, announce the marriage of their daughter, Joanne, to Loren Kelley of Indiana. The Couple were married June 4 in Key West. Fla., where he is stationed with the Navy. They will make Florida their home for the present. The former Miss Schmitt is a graduate of McHenry high school and before her marriage was employed at the Johns- Manville company in WaUkegan. The newlyweds plan to visit McHenry relatives next fall. Fr. Weidemann, chaplain of the court. Mrs. Lucille Marcheschi, district deputy, and her monitor, Lorraine Flotilla, of DeKalb attended the meeting and took charge of the installation. Attending the bride were three sisters, Mrs. Samuel Lawrence Wyse, Jr., of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Alfred Paul Coury of Seattle, Wash, and Mrs. Charles Albert Johnpeter of Athens, Tenn., and Miss Judy Bittikoffer of Chicago. They were attired in pale aqua silk; chiffon sheath dresses, floor length, with overblouse of the sanie^ material and the bodice' featuring long, sheer sleevqs and bateau neckline. A satin trim band of the same color highlighted the waistline, with a small bow in back. , They wore matching pillbox headpieces. Miss Betty Vavrik of McHenry, sister of the groom, acted as junior bridesmaid. She wore a full length dress of the same color as the other attendants, styled with full skirt, short, puff sleeves, bateau neckline and satin sash of the sdme color. Her headpiece was also similar. Attending the groom were Roger Micus and John Slahor of Chicago; also three brothers of the groom, James, William and Joseph Vavrik, and James Coury of Seattle, Wash., nephew of the bride. Mrs. Meagher was attired in a pink ensemble, while Mrs. Vavrik selected green silk. A wedding breakfast for 300. was served in West Frankfort following the nuptial rite, gfrid later 200 guests gathered at the Mar-Lac House in Oak Park for a reception. After a two-week trip to Lake Louise, Canada, the Couple will make their home in Chicago.
