A reception was held at the VFW hall in DesPlaines for 300 guests, including the Geo Guilders, the Lee Whethei hulls and Mrs..Kohernus from the Shores, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Judy, Ken's sister from Indiana and their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Larry McKivens from Indiana. At midnight the guests were- serenaded by the Viscounts in the VFW yard, since both the bride and groom were former .members of the group, The happy couple left for a honeymoon in Lake Geneva and Springfield, following which they will return to their apartment in Dcl'laines. Activities In the Shores The Musielaks spent the weekend in Chicago going to a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary ..party given for one of Don's uncles and his wife, on Sunday. This was held in a hall and the many guests had a ball dancing and having fun. The family bedded down at Bernice's folk's home for the two nights. Saturday night was spent at a birthday party for Bernice's godchild. Julie and Matt Zeimet haye had some old fi'iends drop in over the weekend. Mr. «and Mrs. Erie Wanthal and Mr. and Mrs. H. Wheeler, all from Chicago, also Mr. and Mrs. H. Zeimet from Norwood Park. Mr. and Mrs. Fugene Buzinski, Chuck's sister and family from Norridge, enjoyed an Pvening with Audrey and Chuck Whitney during the week. The Cicchini twins, Diane and Judy, were in Chicago all day Wednesday with one of their aunts and came home tired but happy after a big shopping spree. Incidentally, talking about the twins, they fflso graduated from grammar school two weeks ago and somehow were missed in the group mentioned. Congratulations, girls, and good luck in high school when you enroll in the fall. Last Saturday saw much activity around the Shores, two of our young girls choosing the same day to get married. AUXILIARY TRAINING PROGRAM A widespread manpower development and training program-- one of the largest in the country -- has been approved for Franklin and Williamson counties in Southern Illinois, Gov. Otto Kernel- announced. The initial phase, of the program will involve vocational training for 1,000 unemployed workers, mostly coal miners, at a cost of $2,142,600 from federal funds. by Renee lende The women's auxiliary to Fox River Post 4600 met on June 22 at the clubhouse. Nellie Hepburn was admitted into the organization. Everyone was very happy to see Marge Moreth's smiling face back with us. Marge underwent surgery recently and we are glad to say she is coming along fine. A thank you note was received from Margaret Oak. A note of thanks was also received from Sandra Hettermann for the nurse scholarship she received. A flag was presented to the Pony League by Viola Schubel, Americanism chairman, in a simple ceremony Sunday, June 21. Attending the presentation were Commander Jim Doran, Auxiliary President: Gen Bradley, Joan and Judy Bradley from the Jr. Girls' unit, Roy Bradley and Roy Morrison. The V.F.W. color team were there and Bob Freund played the bugle for the raising of the flag. Poppy Chairman Jo Hansen reported on the poppy sales and we are proud to say that this was a^^Tieat success. A fine job, Jo. Viola Schubel, youth activities' chairman, reported pn the Jr. girls' unit. The girls had # membership tea and have three new members joining the club. The girls from the club who attended J*5e Jr. girls' installation at Elgin Watch City Post No. 1307 were. Hoilie Koehl and Judy Bradley. With them were Viola Schubel, Hank Koehl and Daisy Smith. This year the V.F.W. and Indies' auxiliary will enter a float in the Fiesta Day parade. The float will be constructed by the teen-agers from the area. Vi Abbink is chairman in chargc of this project. Assisting her will be her husband, Bill Abbink and also Inez Young and Renee Jende. There will be just one meeting a month for July and August. The next meeting will be July 28 at 7:30. Those attending the department convention in Springfield on June 27 and 28, as delegates, were Marge Moreth, Jean Wiles, Daisy Smith, Dora Krocker, Jo Hansen and President Gen Bradley.
