Russ Cox pitched eleven and one third innings of shut-out baseball for the Shamrocks, allowing only five hits and seven walks. Ron Mauer came on in the twelfth with two-on and one out. Mauer gave up one walk, a single, and a homerun, for a total of six runs. Frisch , went eleven innings for the Yankees and was relieved by McGrae in the twelfth. Union soldiers sent 2,800 shells into the city each day for 47 davs. William Robinson Chairman of Safe Boating Week Mr. William Robinson of McHenry and a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-18, has been named Safe Boating Week Committee Chairman for McHenry. He arranged for local boaters to have their craft safety checked by a team of examiners from the Coast Guard Auxiliary at the following locations:.. North Bridge Marine, McHenry; Snug Harbor, McHenry; Watt's Marina, Fox Lake; Bauske's Boat/ Basin, Fox Lake; and Kazimojur sort, Barrington, last Sunday. Boats passing the examination were issued decals which show they meet Goast CJttard's the Auxiliary's equipment requirements, are considered structurally sound and seaworthy and also meet state' requirements as to equipment, registration and numbering. Boats displaying the Safety decal of the Auxiliary are not boarded by Coast Guard enforcement teams unless obviously violating boating regulations. Mr. Robinson urges all boaters in the area to utilize the services and facilities of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and other boating organization's such as the Power Squadron, also active in promoting boating safety through education. In addition to courtesy examinations, other services offered by the Coast Guard Auxiliary include public instruction courses in Small Boat Handling and Navigation; the Annual Cleansweep Operation, to remove debris and dangerous obstacles from local boating waters; Safety Patrols of regattas and special events; and a continuing program for the improvement of boating conditions.
