" 7-2-64 ' Swa/tt-Guts 30* AUomen' by Maggie The fancier those NEW BATHING SUITS, the more care they need. While the new synthetics are wonderful, don't put them thru a wringer, as it tends to set wrinkles. Always wash regularly in season so chlorine and salt won't fade your suit or rust the zipper. A wool suit, a suit that is boned, or one with a built-in bra should be hand-washed. "You can machine wash any of your durable cotton suits, as well as men's and children's. But watch it . . . those hems will be full of harsh sand, so wash them in a machine by themselves. Mild soap in cool water is best. Rinse extra well. To dry, turn swimsuits inside out. Don't pin knit suit on line, as it will hang out of shape. Knits should be draped carefully, or better, laid flat on a towel. If you are LENGTHENING A SKIRT, you can. easily remove the crease from the1 old ,hem. Simply so^k a.-, pressing cloth in vinegar, and iron. PULLING DOWN WALLPAPER is always one of those nasty jobs you hate to start because you know it's going to end up in a mess. But last weefc a friend told me her secret. She just soaks the wallpaper before removing it. You dip a paint roller in hot water and roll it up and down the wall. Let it soak for 15 minutes and then scrape it off. When SHOPPING FOR CHINA -- remember the' Big difference is between china and earthenware or pottery, etc., but there are' 4 basic types. Bluish-white Porcelain -- most durable, highly scratch-resistant. Pure white Bone Chinasmade in England. Cream-color U.S. China -- comparable in hardness to porcelain: Casual thicker, sturdier, casual design. Look for patterns in open stock, so replacements or additions can be purchased separately. (Doesn't bean pattern remains in stock indefinitely.) Decide what you want, then how much you want to pay, as china can vary in quality at the same price due to cost of decoration. You'll find CANNED FRUIT has much better flavor if it sits at r»om temperature an hour before serving. (Watch for Maggie every week!) •*w-- skillet, covering it with lettuce leaves, then with a lid, and heating in a moderate oven. Q. How can I quickly remove residue left oh my skin by adhesive tape? A. Fingernail polish remover ^excellent for this. ^ Q. How can I remove old linoleum from the floor more easily? A. Place dry lee in a burlap bag, and place this on the linoleum to he removed, moving it about the surface as you work. The dry ice makes the linoleum brittle, so that it will slip up and come off In large pieces. Q. What is a good way to prepare parsley for garnishing? A. Chop the parsley very fine, place it in a cloth, squeeze the cloth very tightly, hold It under the cold-water faucet for a half-minute, and then squeeze again until all the water Is out.
