It is hoped that there will be a good turnout because, of course, the roads are a major concern to ill residents and this is one way of being informed of what is going to happen to them. Troop 459 • All Scouts are urged to be on time for the meeting of July 14. This is the last rffeeting before Fiesta Day and there is much to be gone over for the parade. Parents, please have your Scouts at this most important meeting. The time is at 8 p.m. Little League News Monday of last week saw the Pirates defeat the Orioles. On Tuesday the Cubs beat the Braves with a 11 to 3 score. Wednesday, the Sox were on top with a total of 9 runs to the Orioles 3. On Thursday the Cubs were the victors over the Tigers with a 27 to 8 score. Friday's game had the Braves defeat the Orioles with an 11 to 2 score. Games for the next week are as follows: Thursday, July 9, Sox and Braves, Friday the 10th has the Orioles and Tigers playing and on Saturday at 6 p.m., the Sox and Cubs will play a rained out game. There will be a double header on Sunday the 12th. First game starts at 1 and will be between the Pirates and Sox, the second game will be right after that game and is between the Orioles and Cubs. A special Little League meeting has been called for tonight, Thursday, July 9. The meeting is to be held at Ron Meurer's garage, 4814 W. Prairie Ave. at 8 p.m. or right after the ball game. ALL interested Little League fathers, coaches and managers should attend. The pictures taken on opening day are for sale and the managers must have the orders and money in before the next monthly meeting of the League, July 22. The bus fare to the Sox Park on August 8 must also be turned in at this time. Parents, please cooperate and get in your boys monies to his manager so he can turn it in. Those nice people Rosemary and Art Tiffany share 29 years of togetherness on the 13th. Larry Glorch will be 9 on the 14th and Beverly Hromec will be that wonderful age of 2 on the 15th. Hope each of you and all of you whose names we don't have had a very wonderful day. A belated birthday wish goes to Rae Burns on July 2 and to Wayne Dettmer on July 3. Sorry we missed them last week. cker proved to be a yery good chef. Rose and Ed Oswald spent last Wednesday in Evanston helping their granddaughter, Joyce, celebrate' her birthday. On Sunday their daughter and her husband and their five daughters spent the day out here with the Oswalds.' Mary and Jim Daurio have their nephew, Mike, from Wisconsin spending a few weeks visiting with them. The Kamp family spent last Thursday touring the museums in Chicago, Bette spent most of her time viewing the Indian displays in search of new ideas. Sue, Ron and the Funk children Spent last Friday enjoying an early holiday picnic along with members of Sue's family. Taking advantage of a three day pass from his Air Force Base was Eddie (Buddy) Druml and his Buddy, Noel Garcia, who hails from Texas. His family is always real thrilled to have their number one son come home even tho his visits are all too breif. John Geletner, Jo Rizzo's brother from the "Windy City", stopped in for a visit after visiting with his son who is at camp in Antio&h. The Jack Oakford family spent the Fourth of July in Rolling Meadows visiting Petey's girl friend, Rosemary Haase, and her family. They had a front seat to watch the fireworks display there as Rosemary's porch looks out over the park where they were put on. Grace and Kathy Campo spent the first of last week in Chicago where Grace gave a helping hand to her sister, Babe Salazar. Babe and her husband, Chuck, are the proud parents of their third boy, born June 23. Jimmy weighed in at 7 lbs. His brothers are Chuckie, 7 years old and Billy 3 years old. Carole Humann went into Chicago last week Sunday, June 28, for a wedding shower. This past weekend proved to be very exciting for the Laursen family. On Friday during the rehearsal of the wedding Gayle's car was stolen by two teen age boys. Stealing the car wasn't bad enough but Patty's shoes for the wedding were in the car and all stores were closed. The car was found later but wrecked. The wedding of Gayle's sister, Karen, took place on July 4 at Grace Lutheran church in Chicago. Gayle was matron of honor for her sister, Patty acted as flower girl. Jimmy and Jackie were acolytes ^ and Pam was in charge of- registration. The bride was radiant and the wedding was just terrific. On Sunday the Fuhks, Gladmans and Sue's brother-in-law, Bill, Bob's mother, Mrs. P. Laursen, and Bernard and Jill Laursen were all guests of Bob and Gayle's. It was quite a weekend. We hope Gayle extends our congratulations to her sister and new brother-in-law. Edna and Tom Hountras had quite a yard and house full of guests on the fourth. The following people enjoyed a very wonderful day and delicious food. Ivy, Stan and Danny Lezak, Florence and 1. ny Piasecki, Ann Herzog, Delia Julian, Grace and Ed Mandziara, Grace's mother, Mrs. Viola Bull from Wisconsin, Ed's brother from Franklin Park, Mr. and Mrs. Collett who had been weekend guests also joined in the partying. Cards and shuffle board were played. Ruth McMahon is in a leg cast due to an unfortunate accident which took place in Gary, Ind. Ruth was enroute to Ohio to attend a wedding. Her daughter, Ruth Ann, and granddaughter were also with Ruth. Ruth Ann was also injured. They were hit head on by a teenage lad and were brought home for hospital treatment. Hope Ruth is able to be up and about real soon. Helen Strandquist is still a patient at Woodstock hospital after her accident several weeks ago. Helen sure would enjoy hearing from her many friends with cards or phone calls. Hope you come home real soon Helen. Jerry Wagner is also not feeling up to snuff, these days. Get well soon Jer. ^Billy Burmann had his tonsils removed during the past week. Joan and Paul Schwegel entertained Joan's parents on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Goold, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dalton, Mrs. Carol Martin all joined Les, Nedra. and Billy Eckart in celebrating Nedra's mother's birthday. Mrs. Chamblin is spending the week with Nedra and on her actual natal day which is Wednesday, grandson Bill took grandma out to lunch. Delores and Jerry Rogers had Marty Rogers and his seven' youngsters out for a picnic an the Fourth. Ann Herzog spent Sunday visiting friends in Oak Park. Her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Steen, also joined in ^on the wonderful dinner and get-together. Bev. Wickenkamp's sister, Jane, spent a week visiting with the Wickenkamps. Bev's parents came out Sunday to pick her up and to spend the day. Mr. and Mrs. Apel had Roy's sister, her husband and- family from Lombard as guests on Sutiday. Tuesday of last week had Ivy, Stan and Danny Lezak, Helen and Mike Kraskiewicz, Delia Julian and Ann Herzog all having breakfast and then^ver to Big Foot to enjoy the day swimming and playing cards. Wayne Dettmer celebrated his birthday with a long time friend Ben Sobon, and his brother, George, from Mundelein. They made the trip to Milwaukee to see the Cubs and Braves play. Mr, and Mrs. Dettmer are spending two weeks vacation just resting at home. Bunny and Bill Jaenicke artd family spent the Fourth of July at Bunny's sisters and her husband's1 home, Lee and Pat Kordell, in Itasca. They celebrated Bunny's mother's birthday. In the evening they went /to Itasca country Club to see the fireworks which Bunny says couldn't compare with our American Legion fireworks on Sunday. Shirl and Max Koch celebrated the Fourth of July with all of Max's brothers and sisters and families coming out for a barbecue. There were Bill and Shirl Koch and their three children who all stayed over until Sunday, Lewis and Rose Koch and daughter, Bill and Tiny Brewer and three children, Joe and Dorothy May, Sis and Joe and their four children and Max's mother, Marie Koch. A wonderful time was had by the whole family. Speaking of our roads, how about everyone who has holes in the roads in front of their homes getting a bucket or box and filling it with stones or dirt and filling the hole? It would help to save the tires and repairs on cars. If we all filled just one hole in this manner the road would be a little more driveable. Please, be extra careful Qn the corner of Shore Drive and Meadow Lane, we were told there was another accident on this corner, making two in less thah a month. This corner is extremely dangerous because of the very high bushes which block the view from two directions. Let's be careful not sorry. McHenry, Illinois Cub Scout Family Picnic The parents of all Cubbers who are members of our Cub Scout Pack 459 are asked to mark July 26 on their calendar now. It's the date set for the family picnic at the Bill Herzog memorial beach. Time set is 3 p.m. There will be prizes for games played by the youngsters. Each family is asked to bring their own basket lunch, pop will be furnished for the youngsters.
