Curran Construction Company of Crystal Lake whose bid is $50,631.18. Fmi. Bring on the trucks! Compliments to SEHOA president Jim Leahy who worked so long and hard with the township officials and alone to bring about the realization of this program. Plan ahead to attend the Aug. 6 meeting of the Sunyside Estates Homeowners Association, Inc., meeting at Johnsburg school at 8 p.m. No doubt you have asked yourselves: "What will be the prime function of the association after our roads are taken care of? Will the dues remain the same? What about the by-laws?" These and other questions will be tackled at this next meeting so that the by-laws may be revised and ready for approval and/or amendments at the October meeting. Interested in having your driveway paved when the roads are being done? Call Mel Simmons for all the particulars. 385-56%. The Association has agreed to dispose of 100 tickets for the Johnsburg Rescue Squad dance to be held Aug. 29. Each resident will be contacted personally to assist in meeting this commitment. You are thanked in advance for your cooperation. A Pink Package arrived for Marlene and Wally Berg at St. Theresa's hospital in Waukegan on July 10 at 8:30 p.m. in the lorm of one beautiful curly haired brunette baby girl weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz., requiring special handling and bringing lots of joy. /Although Kerri Ann arrived 11 days late, mother was composed: she cleaned house the morning of the birth and reports that everything went smoothly. Mother and Daddy are doing as fine as baby and are proud, proud parents. Congratulations to all three Bergs from the residents of the Estates. New Hill topers The McCauleys four are the new owners of what used to be the DeFrancisco home at 4516 Hilltop. From here Martin has just a short trip to work each morning to his place of business in Lakemoor, which is owned by his father. About the same distance as it was from their former home in Volo. During his leisure hours Martin enjoys the pursuit of coin collecting. Wife Lucille "just takes care of kids", as she so aptly put it. "Kids" meaning 20 month old Cynthia arid 9 week old Anthony, who do keep her hopping. Welcome to the Estates, McCauleys. May you enjoy many happy years here. These honeymooners (they've been mar ried less than a year) met very near here several years ago, When Vi found Ed floating down the river on a raft. (She didn't complete that story, Jbut it must be very interesting). As Lady Luck and Dan Cupid would have it, they discovered that their parents each had summer homes on the river--just eight cottages apart. And as fortune would have it, here they are living in the back yard of their courting grounds. Ed travels into Morton Grove each morning where he works. And Vi is a lady of leisure when not caring for their two dogs. What occupies her leisure? ONLY swimming, hunting, horseback riding, water skiing, fishing, and boating 4n their 14 fdbter. Ed shares all her sport: ing interests and adds snow skiing to that list. Well, Rodieks, you certainly have chosen a convenient home base. Enjoy it well, and welcome to the Estates. Guests Galore As A1 Stephens was approaching his house at the end of a weary day recently, his eyes revealed a tent and boat in his yard. "Oh, m'gosh," thought he, "This must be the wrong str no, yes, this is Indian Ridge What " Surprise guests!: his nephew and family, Harold and Pauline Betz, and son, Bruce, dropped in for an over nighter on their way home to Ohio from a two week vacation in the north country. The following week Velma's sister and her husband, Grace and Sid Uhinck, of Eustice, Fla., came to visit for a few days, which wefe spent mostly in Stephen's, new partial basement-- visiting and attempting to escape the heat and enjoy the luscious torte cake that Mrs. Haninger (who lives next door) brought over when she heard Velma was expecting company. Such thoughtfulness. From here the Uhincks went to Seattle to visit their son. Vacation Varieties Lake Kawaguesega in the Minocqua, Wis., area was the vacation spot this year for Herb and Marge Fischer. Inspite of the weather which was cold and then humid, Herb got in plenty of golf and Marge got lots of rest. They spent the week there with another couple: friends from work. The Jerry Olsens spent last weekend in West Lafayette, Ind., visiting the Harry Morrisons. The storm, heat, and humidity there were as bad as, if not worse than here. But the schedule was cool: a hottenany Friday night (three guitarist and a house full of amateur folk singers), Saturday night dinner at a Mandarin restaurant and then to see a play at the Purdue University Experimental Theater, and for the children: a trip to the local amusement park Saturday afternoon. Substitute Scribe During the Olsens vacations in August, Velma Stephens will fill in as your columnist. This will be the first and last vyeeks in August. So for the August 7 and August 28 deadlines, please phone your news to her at 385- 3432. We both thank you for your cooperation. Retirement Party Heddy and Jim Haninger recently attended a farewell party in Cicero for Louis Krai, who, upon his retirement from the post office department, was leaving for Hil-l City, Minn., the Krals new home. Candle Capers It was a proud day on July 5 when Emma Fischer, Herb's mother, celebrated her ninetyfifth birthday. She is living in a nursing home near McHenry. Marge Fischer was treated to dinner in Wheeling on her birthday the 12th. Mrs. Dettlow had thirteen guests in for grandson Donnie's eighth birthday party. There to join in the games and fun were Donny Gerstein, Stevie Brotherton, Phillip Voight, Debbie, Jimmy and Ronnie Fuqua, Kathy and Helen Farley, and David, Debbie, Donna, and Diane Noah. Donny's prize gift was a new bike from his grandparents. Lucky boy. Glad To Report . . . t h a t M r s . G e o r g e Q u i l l , Lois Anderson's mother, is doing well in her recuperative process at the Anderson home. There has been company on top of company at the Anderson home for the past month, but now for some quiet, no? . . . that Ve S.chroeder is improving slowly but progressively. Happy Birthday To Robin Radtke, who is six years old today. Tomorrow to Marge Farley. Thasall. Many happy returns of the day. Happy Anniversary On Aug. 1 to Howard and Claire Hoettels who are celebrating thirty-three years of marriage -- unbelievable. On Aug. 5 to Ron and Dottie Siepman who will celebrate their 11th. May God bless you with many more years of togetherness. Wise Guy Each afternoon one of the Olsen children is assigned the task of setting the table for dinner. One afternoon mother was so thoroughly enjoying the peace and quiet that she let them stay out longer and she set the table herself. When the children did file in, one after the other, each inquired, "Who set the table?" Mother replied that she had, and then 3^ year old Erik, in sheer amazement, queried, "OH, do YOU know how too?"!!! Good neighbors the Lindwalls took her to the hospital where x-rays were taken and quite a few stitches were taken to repair the damage. Marie will be unable to use her right hand for some time but luckily no bones were broken. Bob Harper who broke one of his toes last Sunday in getting up and going into the dark bedroom to check up on son, Bobby, had to go in for x-rays and was home for five days limping around. Jack Verstege got one of his fingers caught in the garage door and had to have four stitches in it to repair the damage. Sorry to hear about our neighbors injuries and hope by the time this column comes out all will be feeling much better. Belated anniversary greetings to Marshall and Lucille Jacobs who added another year on July 17. Jacobs Have Anniversary Party Marshall and Lucille Jacobs had a group of friends and relatives in last Sunday evening to celebrate their twenty-fourth wedding anniversary which fell on the 17th of July. Their daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs, George Darmody from McHenry and Lucille's father, Richard Ristow, attended. Lucille's mother was unable to come because of unexpected guests but sent a delicious pound cake which was enjoyed by all, although her presence would have been a better treat. A buffet supper was served on the Jacobs' new patio after horseshoes, croquet and various vother games were played by the guests. Beach Duty On the 2nd day of August Herb Clausen is in charge of operations at the beach and listed as co-workers are P. Brad, Clara Mueller, A. Egger, William Ewald and H. Tiggemann. SSAC Club Steak Fry The SSAC club will hold their annual steak fry on August 29 at the beach. This includes steak and all the trimmings and free beer. The boys are hoping for a good turnout to get some money back in the treasury after the cost of the fountain and slide recently put in at the beach. Tickets can be purchased from one of the members or at the cook-out, so keep the date in mind and try to make it. If you have been to any of the others you know that they put out a delicious meal. Everybody welcome. Bits of news John and Marie Hinz returned late Sunday night jafter 2Vt weeks in Minoqua, Wis., where they stayed at their son Harold's resort. Ginger, their dog, had a wonderful time running around in the fields with the dogs up there and since Gingfer is quite an old animal they all got a big kick out of her. The weather was very hot, and not like the usual cooler climate that prevails in Wisconsin. John is happy to be back to his own yard and is busy pulling weeds that accumulated during the time he was away. Kurt Pogor's team won their final game and are now All Stars. On Thursday he and the rest of the boys went to Sox Park to see the game between the Sox and the Angels, rooting the Sox to a 2 to 1 victory in the 11th inning. What a thriller. The Wetzels entertained Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wetzel for dinner on Thursday evening, as you can tell by the name they are Fred's parents. The members who played had a good workout, and Art Cicchini came away with the best score, second place going to Matt Zeimet and Ed Olbinski as third high. We hear one of the older winners come home and hit the sack all afternoon.
