Thursday* August 13, 1384 Tm McHENRY PLAINDEALER Section Tkrii* » Page On®| JOHNSBURG NEWS BETTY HETTERMANN 885-1296 ANGRY RESIDENTS OBJECT TO DOGS RUNNING LOOSE Here I go again on a tiresome topic which has been plaguing residents in this vicinity for quite a spell. I really shouldn't limit it to our area though, because the canine situation has been written up in other neighboring columns I'm sure there are very few people who dislike dogs if they are kept where they belong -- in their own yards. Each one of us can understand if a pet gets loose once in awhile by accident, but to intentionally let your dog run around town is inexcusible. So please, keep your pet in Its own yard.. Some of the parents of children have asked me to implore dog owners to keep them where they belong because of the small ones who are out playing during the nice weather. Wouldn't you feel terrible if your pet was the cause of some child being hurt? I hope we can tuck this topic of dogs running loose in moth balls for awhile. Temporarily Incapacitated Young boys have a way of seeking places that aren't always good for them. Such is the case of a certain six year old and a certain tree. The boy happens to be Ricky, son of Dick and Gloria Comstock. Ricky climbed a tree near his home recently and fell from it fracturing his upper leg in two places. He will be confined to his home, lying flat on his back for three weeks. Because of the nature of the fracture, a qast from his waist to his knee had to be put on. While he is convalescing at home, I'm sure he would enjoy hearing from all his little friends. Three weeks can be an awfully long time for a six year old. Send him some cards and make this time go "fleeting" along. Parents Announce Engagement Our best wishes and congratulations to Donna Lee Freund and Ernest Pppacek who recently became engaged. The announcement was made by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Freund of Church Street. Ernie is the son of the Steve Papacek, Jr., of Fox Lake. Some sixty members were on hand to join in on the outdoor fun. The girls enjoyed cooking their lunch on the grills. The rest of the meal was pot-luck with each family in attendance bringing a dish to pass. Among other things that kept them busy during the afternoon hours was the water balloon fights. This week Len was on vacation and I decided I would take a vacation too. Although we didn't do a great deal of news worthiness I did manage to get out of cooking dinner for a week which means no dishes as well. That's my idea of vacation. Len and I spent Monday in Chicago doing some shopping and taking in a couple of movies. On Wednesday the family journeyed to Madison, Wis., for the day to visit my brother and family, the Glenn Nelsons. We finished up the week on Saturday with a family reunion at my sister's, the Rodger Lyons, in Beloit, Wis. It was both a happy occasion and a sad one for the Lyons family will be leaving the midwestern area for the next four years at least. They are moving to Denver, Colo, this week. That catches you up with me and my family. Next week we will catch up on you and your families.
