Apology We're very sorry that we printed the wrong Naval rank for Thomas Reining two weeks ago. Seems we mothers aren't "hep" on our sons' ranks. We had Tom's rank as Seaman 3rd class and it should have been Petty Officer 3rd class. 50th Wedding Anniversary We can't tell you how delighted we are to join the many people who have expressed their happy anniversary wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Mulherin and to Mr. and Mrs. Evans, who both celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Troop 459 Rides Again The troop's ride this time took them to Devil's Lake, Wis. The weather man was really on their side with a wonderful weekend. It was a combination campout for scouts and any of the scouts families who cared to go along. The scouts had their own campsite and enjoyed nothing but a good time. They swam, hiked, climbed the rocky hills, horse backed, went go carting, played ball, visited the Dells and were treated to the Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial. Church services were attended in Baraboo on Sunday by every Scout and the Catholic boys and their families also attended church there on Saturday. The affair was strictly for fun and we know that the group had just that, fun. At the Stand Rock Ceremonial the scouts, leaders and parents were treated to a question and answer session in the dressing room of the performing Indians. The program director and a few of the Indians did their best to answer the groyps questions. Scoutmaster Ed Druml and assistant scoutmaster Irv Becker and twenty-one Scouts had the following families camped next, to them, Bartos, Becker, Belaholvy, Donnelly, Druml, Kamp, Ketchum, Mathews and Kochs. They also took the boys to church and to the Dells. The Funks ac- BUSVil STOPS Ordinary paint covers rust -- Rustex STOPS it. On Suhday Nedra and Les Eckhart, Bob King and his children and Eleanor and Clar Haerle came out to help get the Scouts home. Jessie and Bob Mathews had returned Saturday for the All Star game and also came back on Sunday. The Donnelly and Koch families stayed on until Monday. It was the first time several families had camped out, but we know thy're all ready to go again. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the company*of one another to the utmost. The leaders briefed the Scouts for their next campout which will be held within the next month, it's hoped. The coming campout will be strictly scouting with the Scouts passing tests and requirements. Next Monday evening Aug. 24 our troop's dance team will perfom for the Pow Wow in Wonder Lake. The program is fo be held on the beach at Highland Shores for anyone wishing to attend. All Scouts are to be at the Community House at 6 p. m. on Monday with their Indian outfits. Scouts uniforms should be worn. The campout closed in true 459 tradition with the Scouts getting to wrestle with the following men, Scoutmaster Ed Druml, assistant Scoutmaster Irv Becker, committeemen, Frank Bartos, Bob Matthews and Dad, Morrie Ketchum. The boys never quit until they have all the men down and it took quite awhile to accomplish the fete. Those boys attending the outing wore Mark and Greg Barties, Kenny Becker, Doug Belaholvy, Dennis and Kevin Druml, Tim Donnelly, Billy Eckhart, Doug Funk, Mike Jensen, Danny and Ronnie Kami), Mike Ketchum, Bobby King, Mike Koch, Jack Morris, Bobby Matthews, Mike Ossler, John Reining, Tom Wagner and Jerry Zalud. Strolling Through The Park Delores, Glen and Scott Belaholvy took advantage of being close to so many relatives over the weekend. They visited with several of Delores's family while at Devil's Lake with the Scout Troop. Heard they love to camp and are waiting for another session, soon. Mr. and Mrs. John Hendle of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. John Coffaro of Roselle were dinher guests of Kitty and George Hendle on Aug. 13. The dinner was held in honor of George's birthday. Last Saturday the Hendles were in Chicago with George serving as best man for his brother Jim's wedding while Johnny acted as ring bearer for his uncle. Kitty tells me it was a wonderful wedding but that George's mom is lonesome. She has only one of her five sons at home with her now. Rose and Ed Oswald returned recently from a 10 day vacation. to visit with relatives in Southern Illinois. There are towns where every resident is a relative of Ed's They could spend a month just visiting and still never see all their relatives. They sure did have some wonderful meals and those angel food cakes sounded delicious with their 13 egg whites. Upon their return they went to Evanston to help their grand daughter Judy celebrate her eighth birthday. Saturday and Sunday they had their grandson, Airman 3rd Class Eddie (Bud) Druml, Jr., over for dinner. Jack, Billy and Larry Oakford went camping up at Chain O' Lakes State Park last week for three days. They went fishing and hiking and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Lovable, little, very active Margie Becker celebrated her second birthday at Devil's Lake over the weekend with all the Scouts and their families helping her celebrate with cup cakes made by Margie's mom, Dottie. Little "No Doze" lived up to her nickname in being the most active camper in the group. She's quite a little girl. Bill Donnelly was put to work on his very first hours of his first campout. Irv Becker had a very deep sliver in his finger which Bill was able to remove after we all failed. Doug Funk and Tim Donnelly also required Bill's services during the campout. You're a good Scout, Bill and, so is your wife, Marion. The Wickenkamp family had a touch of something or other last Sunday which made the whole family very uncomfortable. Hope you have all recovered by now. A family outing was held at the Rogers home last Sunday. Jerry's brothers, Bill and Marty, and their wives and family and his sister, Ann, and her children all enjoyed a cook out. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jensky had her sister, Virginia, and her husband. and son, Bruno and J.afmes Kulczyk, out from Chicago. Also her niece, Laverne, and husband, Eugene White, and their children, Cynthia, Barbara ahd Wayne. They also had their granddaughter, Judith Biala, and his god-child, Patricia Kulczyk, for a weekend, and -their grandson, Robert Jensky, from Glen Ellyn for 2 weeks. Susie Gerstad is spending the week at Sun Prairie, Wis., with her grandma. Anyone still missing dishes e News A Public Service Column by Ladd Enterprises The people at Ladd who participated in the McHenry County Fair enjoyed the chance to visit with so many fair-goers. The interest shown in our method of constructing homes and in helping with financing was enthusiastic. Visitors stopped by our booth for a pause and found themselves spending several minutes admiring the photos of model homes and looking over our various brochures. Ladd has a policy of developing models that are practical, eye appealing and efficient to construct. This keeps the cost of each home at a realistic level. Ladd also plans its developments so the value will remain the same or actually increase. Available money help is assured through Ladd's ability to obtain V.A., FHA, or conventional financing. Fair visitors liked what they learned after a few minutes of inquiry about Ladd. You receive the best dollar valu& possible when you buy from Ladd -- in any of the Ladd-built developments. Our company also welcomes the opportunity to take active part in boosting the McHenry County Fair. Through advertising, the fair booth and a prize for the Miss McHenry County winners, we enjoy this chance to boost the young people of this county. In a few more days, you'll be hearing progress reports on building underway at both Millstream in McHenry and Clermont at Woodstock. Families who have seen our model homes choose their favorities, and now more Ladd-built homes are under construction in these two developments. Only last March they were opened?" We expect to see many more people make their selection and approve construction in the months ahead. At Coventry in Crystal Lake, Ladd is electing homes at a record pace -- a pace well ahead of the long-range plans for the 600-home development. * Remember this week's friendly suggestion. Ladd sales representatives are trained to help you determine your home buying needs and are Ihorougly familiar with our model homes so they can be helpful in offering specific suggestions to meet your family needs and desires. With 25 model homes from which to choose, you'll find the home you like at Ladd. And Ladd welcomes the chance to make little custom changes on its models so the home reflects your personality and spccial needs. Visit Clermont and chat with Tom Brink at Woodstock.
