THE McHENRY PLAINDnATi««Il mursaay, August 2u, 196£ SO-J- HEAR ... Jim Cisne Wins Golf 'Tourney As that famous commentator used to spy, "There's good news to-night". The Sox have beaten the mighty Yankees for the second night in a row in this torrid American League race for the championship and, of course, World Series honors and loot. It seems the Sox are always winning, but still take the bridesmaid's role as the Orioles perch up there in first place. ; With this- great - pitching, if our sluggers ever start hitting there is no telling how far we may get out in froYit. And the Cubs won. in 16 innings! Wonderful; We can imagine the elation of some of our dear friends. Had the Sox lost, they would be on the phone 'early in the morning to console us. It is all great fun, but no matter who wins or loses we .have to get up and go to work the next morning. Larry Huck and Yours Truly were going to tell A1 Lopez he should have had Robinson bunt in that tenth inning, but since the Sox won there seems to be no need for our free advice. You cain dance with your dolly Saturday night, Aug. 29, at the V.F.W. where the Little League will hold the annual whing-ding. You just can't stop that Buss •fellow. Eddie won the K. of C. "Diocesan golf championship last week, then beat Art Jackson, a real fine golfer, for the championship of the McHenry Country Club last Sunday. This match drew a large gallery just like big time tournaments. Of course, this is big time except for a little item like a 50 thousand dollar prize. We notice the Mets winning a. fewlvgames since tljey, got Bobby Klaus. Bobby has hit real good as he took over second base for ailing Hunt, then moved to third. We liked the reply -Dick "The Monster" Radatz, famouse Red'Sox relief pitcher, gave to a query about his size ^ 'T' am 6'5" tall and weigh between 200 and ^JFf&TMeyer moanui low. . """Allan Meyer and KI§" cfSd are -geing-in to-see the Sox clobber the Yankees Wednesday night, itllan called to see if we had any message for A1 Lopez. "Nope." We think he got the message someplaee along the line. PICKUPS-- Don't tell people your troubles, half of them aren't interested and the other half are glad you're getting what's coming to you. Asked why on earth the new baby was named "Encore", the father replied "Well, frankly, he wasn't on the program at all." I have discontinued long talks on account of my throat, several people have threatened to cut it. He who cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself, for every man has need to be forgiven. "The Padre" U. S. Grant was once arrested, while President, and fined $20.00 for speeding. Winner of the Chicago District Golf Association Junior Boys Tournament was Jim Cinse, 15, of Jacksonville, Illinois. Of 96 entrants starting Monday, 32 qualified for match play with Jim Cisne winning after three days of competition 2 up. Shown left to right are: Pete Bergquist, 1st runner-up; John Chichester, Skokie Country Club, director of CDGA and in charge of the tournament; and winner Jim Cisne. Hettermann's Win 15-8 From Young Stars by James Petersen The outcome of this game can be told in a few words--experienced hitting. Hettermann's out-hit the All-Stars 21-12; 10 of their hits came in the first inning and accounted for 9 runs. After this inning, it was an even ball game. The All-Stars turned in some fine defensive plays! they had 3 double plays, one on a fine catch by Butch Meyer and the base runner doubled at second. Ken Stilling started 2 double double plays, one with a nice stop of a line drive and a throw to second to start the double play. Hettermann AB R H B. Oeffling 4 3 3 D. Hiller 4 2 4 L. Freund 4 2 3 D. Ed had to play a steady game throughout the tournament as he was being dogged constantly by Art Jackson. They went right down to the wire, and the difference was that Art faltered on two holes and Ed did not. Nice going, Ed! You can add this one to the many trophies you already have. Art played a great game and gained the record of shooting the lowest score in club championshp play, a 67. Here is how the totals went after the final round: E. Buss, 288; A. Jackson, 290; D. Rosing, 311; E. Seepe, 312; J. Nischan, 323; G. Johnson, 321; F. Johnson, 317. The Handicap Championship Tournament was won by Pete Myer. Pete sort of let things slip through his fingers by shooting a 42 on the first nine, but came back steady to take all the marbles. Congratulations, Pete. Here is how the scores went in the handicap: P. Myer, 282; J. Harpling, 285; D. Freund. 286: J. Caldwell, 286; B. Piesert, 288; H. Reihansperger, 289; T. Victor, 290; E. Simon, 291; R. Ladd,292; D.
