Y Appliance, 1241 Si, Phone" "1385-5500 ' New York Visitor Mrs. Emil Debrecht of Jak- Ana Heights, has been spending the past two weeks in Buffalo. This was not a planned vacation though. Marie is there to assist her daughter. It seems that her son-in law was washing windows on the second story and his wife was doing the same on the first floor when he fell from the ladder. He landed on his wife and both sustained injuries. Marie's son-in-law, Peter, suffered a badly broken leg and ankle while her daughter, Joan, sustained some painful bruises. The -three children are under the watchful eye of their grandmother until their mother's bruises heal which I'm sure won't be too long. We all hope Pete and Joan will soon be completely well real soon. One of the disappointing things about this unforeseen accident is that the whole family was coming up here the next week for a vacation. It's a good thing Marie could get away and give Joan the helping hand she needed at a time like this. Cystic Fibrosis Volunteers Please be generous when any of. the following ladies come to call at your house. They will be collecting for the cystic fibrosis fund drive. The volunteers so generous with their time are: Mesdames Rudolph, Brennan, Huemann, Peterson and Prem. Please treat them with courtesy, as well as generosity. Recent ^psing School Graduate Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer of Spring Grove Road hosted an open house party in their home last Sunday honoring their daughter, Lynn Marie's graduation from St. Therese's School of Nursing. About fifty relalives and friends were in the Meyer home following the 1:30 graduation exercises. After one week vacation, Lynn will return to Waukegan where she will reside while she works in St. Therese's hospital in the obstetrical department. She received her grade schooling at St. Gilbert's school in Grayslake and graduated from the Warren Township high school in Gurnee. Our very best wishes for a successful future are extended to Lynn in her years ahead as a nurse. This is by lar one of the most rewarding professions. Unexpected Vacation Carol Ann Stilling enjoyed several days vacation which she didn't expect last week. Her brother, Gerry, picked her up from St. Coletta's school in Jefferson on Monday to spend sometime visiting with her aunt and uncie, the Jack Keenans, who are visiting here from Pompano Beach, Fla. She returned to her school on Thursday. Spccial Treat Next Sunday All the parishioners of St. John's church arc in store for their annual treat next Sunday at the 10:45 Mass. I'm referring to the yearly visit of Our Lady of Victory's special choir. The grouD has thrilled the congregation for the past number of years, with their beautiful voices. Showered In Caledonia When Joyce Theil gets married she will be the best equipped housewife around. She was honored at a bridal shower last Sunday. This one took place at the Allen Peter's home in Caledonia. It also served as a family reunion for his side of the family. Miscellaneous items were presented to Joyce by the twenty- five ladies who participated in the shower. Bake Sale Coming Up Get set ladies another bake sale is in the offing. The Blessed Virgin Sodality of St. John's church will sponsor this event on Sunday, Sept. 6 following all the regular Masses. They need lots of home baked goods to sell so be sure to make an exfra batch. As usual no sale is a success without buyers, so we want some of them also. Remember the date is Sept. 6 in the school hall. Florida Bound Sandy Hettermann will be returning to Florida for a vacation with Jack and OUie Keenan. The Keenans have spent the last three weeks visiting relatives and friends. Sandy will see the sights around Pompano Beach and then return by air in time Lo start school at 31. Therese of Nursing early next month. RINGWOOD NEWS DELORES BRENNAN 653-2045 School Will Start Sept. I Don't forget to set your alarms on Monday night if you have youngsters going to school at Ringwood. On Tuesday. Sept. 1, there will be registration for the Ringwood grade school, beginning at 5 minutes to 9 a.m. I'm sure you all have received the letter from the principal giving you all the facts about book rent, etc. If not, give Mr. Smejkal a call at the school. Wednesday, will be the first full day of school. The summer is coming to a close fast, when schools start opening. Also, just a word of caution, drive carefully, there are boys and girls riding their bikes to school, be on the look-out for those who are not watching for cars. Fossum Girls Collect For CF The Fossum girls will be calling at your door to solicit funds for the Annual Cystic Fibrosis Fund Drive sometime during Sept. 1 and the 15th. There are too many children taken from this world with this dread disease of Cystic Fibrosis, so please give the girls whatever donation you can to help the many children struck with this dread disease. There is much more work to be done before it is completely eliminated. It's farewell once more for another week. Take care of yourselves and we will all meet right here again next week. by Marie Schaettgen Several of the ingredients in this recipe may be found in your own garden but, if not, the local markets will have them in plentiful supply.
