KNOX At a regular meeting of the county Democrats last week, William Bolger of McHenry eulogized the late Robert E. Knox of McHenry in the following manner: "Box Knox was a faithful Democratic worker for more than fifty years. And sad though it may be, I think it was fitting that he was working for the good of the party on the morning of the day he died. Bob wasn't looking for a job--or even a pat on the back. His work was his way of saying "thank you" to the party that came to the rescue of millions of Americans during the great depression over a generation ago. "Bob Knox was a happy warrior. When personal tragedy struck his family, as indeed it did several times during his lifetime, Bob was the kind who preferred to light a candle rather than curse the darkness. "And so, my fellow Democrats, if we could take a line from a page of the book of his life, I think it should be, "Don't ever be bitter toward your fellow man, but rather, have charity in your hearts for all."
