Turkey and beef will be served family style alonq with other good things to eat. Dancing is on the evening's agenda for later. I hope you made your reservations in time so you can participate in what we all hope will be a wonderful evening to remember. See you there next Saturday Unexpected Trip To The Hospital Mrs. Shirley Lieser didn't think she would be spending last weekend in the Woodstock hospital, but she did. A bothertome stomachache was diagnosed as appendicitis. She underwent surgery and should be home by the time this come to print. We wish her speedy get-well wishes. Death Shock Community I learned of the untimely death of little Jeffrey? Collis of Scottsbluff, Nebr., and was as shocked as I'm sure others will be when they read of this. His parents, Betty and Duane, resided on Spring Grove Road for several years and were both employed in McHenry. They moved away about 11 years ago I'm sure there will be many who will remember them as they accumulated a host of friends while they resided here. Jeffrey Collis passed on Oct. 21 at the age of 17 months. He was laid to rest in Scottsbluff on Saturday, Oct. 24. His aunt, uncle and cousins, the Howard Reinboldts of McHeniy, were in Scottsbluff for the funeral. We all join in extend- Hig our deepest sympathies to Betty and Duane in their hour of such sorrow. Young Jeffrey is also survived by a sister and three brothers. For the friends of the Collises who would like to drop them a card, their address is as follows: 1807 Avenue N., Scottsbluff, Nebraska. lands resident suffered a possible stroke and was taken byambulance to the hospital. The running count got a hard shove this week. The total to date is 2,423. In bringing this particular item to a close I would like to send a word of caution along for all. In case you ever need the services of the rescue squad and must call them. \te sure to given them all the correct information before hanging up. It may take you a lew moments longer to give them this information but in the long run it will* pay off. By giving them the correct name, address and telephone number, hastens their arrival to the emergency scene. Please keejj this in mind if you have to call them for,, help. "Now Aren't You Sorry You Weren't There"?. I'm referring to all the members of the Johnsbjurg Businessmen's Association who were unable to attend the first annual dinner for the group which took place last Tuesday evening. They sure had a good time for themselves. The committee for the evening are to be congratulated for the terrific job that was executed. Following the dinner, a large line of performers entertained for everyones enjoyment. Beautiful tap, ballet and acrobatic numbers were rendered by Cheryl Hansen, April Young, Judy Abbink and Linda Abbink. Singing in perfect harmony were Mary Ellen and Tom Russell. Each also sang a solo number, which could not have been lovelier. Trumpet solos were by Ron Bykowski and music was furnished by the talented Jack Ness and his accordion. All in all it could not have been more enjoyable for all in attendance. So when this affair comes around next year, don't forget to be there. Girl Scouts Resume Meetings Thanks to Sylvia Von Obstfelder and Virginia Pradelski, the Girl Scouts will remain together in Johnsburg. The first meeting will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Nov. 9 in the public school. This is troop 88. Former Brownie troops 389 and 150 now have a place to continue scouting. Because the troop is a little late in getting started, registration night will be held at the first meeting. A fee of one dollar is due on this evening for registration. Selections of patrols and plans for outings and service projects for the entire group will be scheduled. The troop will be made up of fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Wedding Anniversaries Bob and Barbara Hettermann and Bob and Dolores Meyer are both in line for best wishes this week. Both have anniversaries to celebrate. It is three years for the Hettermanns and two for the Meyers'. Father Passes On Our sincere sympathies are extended to Mrs. Lorraine Hiller upon the recent death of her father, William C. Blake. Mr. Blake passed away in the Woodstock hospital at the age of 81 years. Funeral services were conducted in McHenry on Wednesday. Mr. Blake is also survived by his wife, two other daughters and a son. Rescue Squad Calls Hats off to our Johnsburg rescue squad who watched over our children last Saturday night when they were out "trick or treating". Through the efforts of some of the members flares were put around town to caution motorists. These flares had to be replaced every so often as they burned out. We all appreciated their efforts to protect the youngsters from undo harm. This past week the squad members answered five emergency calls. At 10:20 a.m. on Oct. 26, they were in Pistakee Terrace where a resident fell from a ladder and suffered a possible broken leg. She was taken to the McHenry hospital for treatment. On Oct. 28 at 8:15 in the evening a car rolled over on the curve on Chapel Hill road. No injuries were reported on this call. Sunnyside Estates was the scene of their call on Oct. 29, at 1:30 in the afternoon. The patient was taken to the hospital for treatment. At 4 p.m. on the 31st. a driver lost control of his car and overturned on Spring Grove Road. He suffered possible lacerations and a possible broken leg. The squad ambulance took him to the McHenry hospital for further treatment. The last call of the week came at about 6:15 p.m. Meeting Reminders The Holy Name Society will meet in the community club hall tonight (Thursday) at 8 p.m. Members of the Blessed Virgin Sodality will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the community club hall. All members are cordially invited to attend. That time is here again for me to close. Please keep in mind your items of news, no matter how big or small, keep the column going. Give me a ring anytime during the week. Just remember the deadline is Monday at noon. See you all bright and shiny here again next time. Be sure to attend church services this Sunday with your family. Kenneth L. Giles of Wonder Lake pleaded not guilty to theft when he appeared in the court of Judge James Cooney on Oct. 30.
