Thursday, November 155, 1964 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Section Three*--- 'Psgje Pltl WORIER LIKE NEWS MARY UDU HARTOO X-- 653-7lt6 AUXILIARY TO FIREMEN PLAN BENEFIT BAZAAR The last meeting of the aux Wary was held Oct. 20 and the following subjects came up for discussion: A Christmas bazaar for next year and a card party in February. Alice Wagner, Peg Kusch, " artd Joyce Kinzer weie appointed to be a nominating committee for the coming election. Hostesses for the October meeting were Jan Matheson and Peg Kusch. President Helen Kline urges all members to attend the next meeting on Nov. 17 as there will be an election of officers and drawing of names for the Christmas grab bag. Please don't forget the date. The Firemen's picnic held in September at the firehouse was "certainly enjoyed by all. The food was delicious. One more word about the auxiliary- they can't accomplish things without the support of all the members, so please don't let them doWn. New members are always welcome on the third Tuesday of every month at the firehouse at 8 p.m. Tops Club Topics The Wonder Lake chapter of TOPS will hold its annual election of officers on Nov. 18. All nl£W>bers are requested to attend this most important meeting. A completely new slate of officers will be elected (and if you aren't there to speak up --you could be elected to an office without your consent.) Four new officers plus one appointed office will be elected at this meeting. New officers will be installed in December and will take over their duties on Jan. 1, 1965. Wonder Lake's teen chapter could use several more members. I know that there are more than a half a dozen of you teenage girls who are overweight. and who need the help of TOPS. Can it be that you think more of your appetite than you do your appearance? Relieve me, girls, it's-, much more fun to belong to the "pretty people", and this attitude of "if they don't like me the way I am--they can jump in the lake" is just a cover up and you know it. Christmas is coming and you're not going to get into that dreamy dress if you don't take off some of that excess. Call 653-5417 evenings for information. Kiwanffl Club Of Wonder Lake Nov. 7 Meeting Dave Joslyn addressed the Kiwanis Club of Wonder Lake on the proposed forest preserve district. Dave, who is probably McHenry County's number one conservationist, gave a complete report on the proposed forest preserve district. Of the six Northern Illinois counties, McHenry is the only one that does not have any provision for a forest preserve. Through co-operation with the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago, the outlines of the proposed district are set up at a booth at the McHenry county fair. That is even tliBugiriie came in late, just on the dead line. Bill Cristy gave a report on our interclub at Belvidere, which took place last Wednesday. Our group walked into a steak dinner. To listen to the Kiwanians describe the dinner, the steaks must have been four inches thick. The Belvidere Kiwanians were asking how Wonder Lake always knows when they are having steak. Saturday, Nov. 7, was the Kiwanis bowling sweepstakes. Results will be given next week. A smorgasbord was served afterward. Speaker on the Nov. 9 meeting was from the McHenry County mental health center. At the suggestion of Bill Cristy, a revolving fund was set up to help students with book rentals at the Harrison school. This was so no student would be without books. Due to the absence of President Floyd, plans concerning the installation of officers on Dec. 5, were not announced. It's A Boy For The Wflltamses Heartiest congratulations to Norman and Gaii Williams on the birth of their son, Norman James III, who was born Nov. 1 in Woodstock hospital. Gail and Norman are former Wonder Lakers who now live in Crystal Lake. The young man weighed in at 9 lbs., 14 oz., which makes him a pretty husky fellow right from the start. He also has a sister at home, April Gail, who is IMs years old and is probably fascinated with this new doll who has come to live in her house. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cannon, Jr., of Wonder Lake are the maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Norman J. Williams, Sr., of McHenry are the paternal grandparents. Benefit Dance The McHenry County Association for Retarded Children will hold a benefit dance, Nov. 14, at 9 p.m., at. the V.F.W. hall in McHenry. A first class orchestra has been engaged for dancing and a floor show has been arranged to include both the teacher and pupils from our local dancing school. Tickets to the dance will be available at the dobr the night of the dance. AM proceeds from the dance will go to help the^^School tor Retarded Children. Plan to attend this affair not only to enjoy a very pleasant evening out but also to help out in this most worthy cause. On the agenda was a parade and a very nice visit with dear friends. Sad note: Myrtle Bentz fell and hurt herself. I have no details just that she was flat on her back. So sorry, Myrtle, and hope you're feeling better. The Lutzes had a most welcomed visitor Thursday, Nov. 5. My mother, Mrs. Grace Reilly, came to spend the day with us. Mom and Dad live in Skokie, but it might as well be Alaska for all we see of them so believe me it was a real joy to be able to spend the whole day visiting with Mom. Also on that evening Father Reed from Techny, 111. was here to talk with our son, Larry, about seminary life. Larry will be going to "Divine Word" seminary at East Troy, Wis., in September.
