This affair is one of the gala affairs preceding the holiday season and is one of the most festive affairs of the season. Our Women's Club has worked hard and long to make this affair not only a big social success' but also one financially, as the proceeds go towards the clubs yearly four figure payment on our community house. We feel that everyone should plan on attending, or at least buy a ticket to help this/ active group out. Tickets will be available at the door. Women's Club To Meet Tonight Tonight, Thursday, Dec. 3 at 8:30 our Women's Club will hold its monthly meeting. Last minute details for the Snow Ball dance will be covered as well as last minute plans for the club's yearly Christmas party. It is hoped by the officers and various committees that there will be a large attendance at the meeting. Fond Farewell We've been told that this weekend our subdivision will loose the Steele family to sunny California. Mr. Steele has served our subdivision on the board and as president and has done a very fine job, one to be proud of. Our loss is California's gain and we wish the John Steele family nothing but the very, very best in their new home. Boy Scout News The troops members are very active in the sales of their tickets, for their show the end of January. We are also working very hard to make the show a big success. Our pick up for gifts for Dixon was held on the 21st of November and it was a very cold day. The following leaders and parents drove the Scouts around, Ed Druml, Jim Daurio, Les Eckhart, Glen Belahalvy, Polly Licastro and Carol Ketchum. These Scouts are to be commended for their very wonderful effort and braving the bitter cold to go door to door, Dennis Druml, Danny Kamp, Miss Daurio, Kevin . Druml, Ronnie Kamp, Doug Belahalvy, Billy Eckhart, John Reining, John and Donny Arient, Doug and Eddie Funk, Donnie Williams, Steve George, Gary Braun, Jocko Worm, Mike Ketchum, Russ Rode and Timmy Donnelly. We received many gifts but not the amount we had hoped to gather. Many of the residents had gone out and purchased many new things, others gave what they had, one couple who live on a pension gave a five dollar check, others made dolls, our sponsoring institution gave a nice size check to help with the wrapping. some gave tape and seals to help wrap. All of these will make the residents of Dixon just a little happier on Dec. 25. Special Days Our very warmest and best wishes are extended to the following members of our community this week. The feast of St. Nicholas, (Holland's Santa) is Dec. 6 and getting in on double celebrations on that day are Marge Webber, one of our wonderful Brownie leaders, that very active Lee Glorch, little doll Renee Plusinski, who will be 3 and our big Marine son. Dave, who will be 20. Another cute little doll, Margaret Oak ford reaches age 2. Greg Mayer becomes a teen age and our cute niece, Cindy Kamp, will be 8. They all share Dec. 8 as their natal day. Getting to be quite a yoyng man is Phil Bucaro who is 15 on the 9th. Etta and Fran Clark add a year of togetherness on the 10th and tho dream of David Wickenkamp becomes reality as he reaches Little League of you. may all your wishes age, 8, also on the date. To all become reality. Belated birthday greetings are extended to Don Humann who celebrated on the 27th qf November and to Tommy Creulz who became two on Nov. 30. Our wishes are even greater for them, we kept them longer. 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration Anna rind August Huockopplebrated their golden anniversary on Nov. 22. A special anniversary Mass yt&a read at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Chicago. Fourteen members of the family attended a breakfast at a nearby restaurant. They came home later in the evening and celebrated again by going out to dinner. We know we are joined by all the members of our community in wishing the Hueckes many, many more wonderful years of happy, healthy togetherness. May God watch over this fine couple. New Resident Margaret and James Gray are the proud parents of another son. Curtiss Dee made his entrance on Nov. 27 at McHenry hospital, weighing in at a husky 8 lbs. % oz. His proud brothers and sisters are James, Jr., who is 9, Virginia Maria who is 8 and Rozanne who is 6. May young Curtiss be blessed by good health and happiness. Sympathy Extended The deepest sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Vera Rose Baumgartner. Her life came to an end on Wednesday at McHenry. hospital at the age of 75. Mrs. Baumgartner had been ill for a long time. Her survivers are her husband George, three sons, William of Lake Villa, John of Mundelein and Edward of Irving, Texas, six grand children and three brothers. Funeral mass was read at St. Mary's church at 10 on Saturday with burial at Ridgewood in Des Plaines. May she rest in peace. Strolling Through The Park We're real sorry to hear that Theresa Herweg, Bill St rue we and Glen Stach are all in the hospital. Hope they are all home real soon. Bobby Hromec is the victim of the mumps, bet mom LaVerne hopes she avoids them. Gloria, Ken, Frankie and Jolene Vanek spent the Thanksgiving holiday at the Beneses in the city. Later in the evening they all went to Stickney to visit with Doc, Ken and Mike Hamcr. The Meurer family spent Thanksgiving with grandma and grandpa Meurer in Maywood. The youngsters spent the night and Friday visiting with them while Barb got some Christmas shopping done. We were very sorry to hear that Pam Schwegel has had to return to the hospital once again. Hope your leg is much improved by the time this is I State hospital on Tuesday beread, Pam. Mike Koch has been sporting a badly bruised eye from a freak accident. Seems Mike pulled open a car door too rapidly and caught the door with his eye. Cindy Kamp was one of the many felled with tonsillitis and Mary Daurio was down for two days with the bug, sure hope your all feeling better by now. Helping Dottie, Irv and the Becker children eat that turkey that they won bowling were Irv's parents. The occasion was two fold, Thanksgiving and Dottle's birthday. Dottie's brother and his family visited on Friday. Maureen and John Johnson attended the wedding mass of Sally and Don Alesi at Queen of Angels church on Saturday. Maureen reported the wedding and evening reception were just wonderful. She loves? to attend weddings. Helping Bette, Bill and the Kamp children to enjoy goose and turkey dinner on Thanksgiving dinner were Bette's folks, Lil and Mike Druml of Wonder Lake. Over the holiday weekend Marge, Carl and the Elshoff children from Springfield were among their visitors. Many games of Millie Bornes were played. E n j o y i n g a t r a d i t i o n a l Thanksgiving dinner with their folks Rose, and Ed Oswald were Blanche, Ed and the five Geishecker girls, Kay, Ed, Dennis and Kev Druml. The evening ended rather sadly tho' as their son-in-law, Ed Geishecker ended up as a patient at our local hospital. Ed's been able to return to their home in Evanston where he is confined to bed and doctor's care. Ed celebrated his birthday in bed but at home on Sunday. Mary, Jim, Mike, Lynn, Jimmy and Tommy Daurio all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and visited with relatives via the phone. Sue and Ron Funk and their children had Ron's folks as dinner guests on turkey day and went into Fox Lake to Sue's sisters home for supper and to help celebrate Sue's and Dorothy's mom's birthday. Mrs. Roth had a wonderful day. Heard that Wally Schaedel has been spending every spare minute filling the family larder with those very sought after birds known as pheasants. Spending Thanksgiving Day with parents were Gerry, Lloyd, Sharon, Tommy and David Wagner. They had dinner with Gerry's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Harbaugh of Lombard and supper with Lloyd's folks, Those two wonderful Girl in Villa Park. Scout leaders, Maureen Johnson and Dorothy Dowell took over 200 cup cakes to one of the women's wards to Elgin fore turkey day. The mothers of Girl Scouts had made them with help from their daughters. They made the patients feel like a million dollars knowing some one remembered them, April and Pat Faunt, Eddie and myself had a very wonderful evening on Wednesday. The Faunts were Godparents for April's mother, Mrs. Donald Smith, while Eddie and I had the honor of being Godparents for our future daughter-in-law, Donna. After they were baptized into the Roman Catholic church, Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married by Rev. A. Wiedeman of St. John's in Johnsburg. The bride and groom looked as happy as they did 22 years ago when they were married at a civil ceremony. We know that God will send special blessings on this family through their newly acquired Catholicism. A party was held in the Smith home to honor the occasion. Mary Faunt and her date Otto joined the group. May God bless you all. Heard that Frankie Vanek found the rain and wind played havoc with the ice and he hit a soft spot while skating and got mighty wet. Let's -all test the ice before we use it. We're sure Frankie will tell you to do so too. Craig Leigh and Edward Haagenson were both hospital patiets during the past week as results of an auto accident. Ann Herzog just returned on Sunday from a wonderful trip to her daughter and her family. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Walters reside in Webster Grove, Mo. Ann and her son-in-law's mother, Delia Walters, flew down to help the couple celebrate their twenty-sixth anniversary and for Thanksgiving. Joining them on turkey day were Ann's other daughter and her family, the Ellis Steen family. They were all entertained royally during their visit. They motored home with the Steen family. Delia Julian spent Thanksgiving day in Chicago with her sister and her family. Grace and Ed Mandizara were guests in Wisconsin for the holiday weekend and they brought back Grace's mother, Mrs. Viola Bull, to visit with them for a while. Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz had quite a house full for turkey dinner and all the trimmingss. Their family was joined by Florence and Tony Piasecki, Ivy and Stan Lezak. Bet they had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. Clark Biermann was guest of honor for supper on Sunday. The following boys were treated to the show and to supper in honor of Clark's birthday, Robbie Wickenkamp, Jimmy McMillan, Paul Rogers, Norbie Kwiatek, Lance Kuhns. Bev and Jim Wickenkamp Were hosts to Bev's folks and her grandmother on the day of feasting. The Jerry Rogers family all gathered at the home of Jerry's sister, Ann, for a complete gathering of the Rogers clan on turkey day. Petey, Jack and the Oakford children had Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pierce of the city as dinner guests on Sunday. The Matt Grizley family went to a well known restaurant for their Thanksgiving dinner. Matt and his family were extremely grateful on this day of giving thanks as Matt had escaped injury from a freak accident when a wheel broke off his car. Glad nothing serious happened Matt. They Were also pleased by a phone call from Sue's mother in California. The members of L.P.P.O.A> recently enjoyed a terrific dinner held as a farewell to Viv and John Steele. Attending were the guests of honor and Ron and Joyce Braun, 'Jack and Petey Oakford, Toots and Don Gerstad, Nedra and Les Eckhart, Mary and Ray Barle, Harriet and Casimer Mikosz and Rosalie and Stan Sloninia. This is one of the very few times that everyone was able to make the affair. Nedra, Les and Billy Eckhart had Nedra's sisters and their families as guests on Thanksgiving, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. James Goold, and her niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Martin, Nedra's mom, Mrs. Chamblin, was also here and remained until Monday morning. Mrs. Chamblin was also a donator to the drive for Dixon. She brought out at least a hundred gifts she had gathered from friends in Chicago. Our hats are off to her. Frank and Laverne Hromec and Don and Penny Veenhius spent a very pleasant evening visiting with Carol and Ray Cynowa last weekend. The Don Humanns celebrated Thanksgiving and Don's birthday which was the 27th at Don's folks home. Kathy stayed for a few more days coming home on Sunday. Tommy Creutz celebrated his second birthday last Monday, Nov. 30, with a party. Barbara Humann, Ray Roch, Danny Veenhuis and Vicki Bottari and of course Tommy's mother, Jackie. . Ronnie and Jackie Cretiteattended a wedding at St. Patrick's and then the receptioro^at the V.F.W. last Saturday. Hope Bill Radisch is feeding better after his sore bac has kind of kept him down. They spent a very quiet Thanksgiving at home but on Saturday their daughter and family and Lyda's brother, Ralph Kendig, came out for the day. Thanksgiving guests of the Rizzo family were Jo's sister, Mrs. Marie Smoje, and her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mr®. Kutina, and her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robin Sittoje, and their year old baby. They were surprised by a call from West Virginia from Grandma Rizzo and Paul's sister'" and husbanu, Colonel and Mrs. N. C. Anderson. The Bottaris' Thanksgiving dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Mazzoni, Mr. and Mrs. S. Bottari, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rosasco, and son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rosasco and daughter, Linnay.
