Normally our Pack meeting is on the third Monday of each month but because of the holiday this months will be held one week earlier, on the the 14th. All Cub Scouts are asked to bring a fifty cent grab bag gift. Better practice those Christmas carols too, we'll bet there will be some singing not only for the party but to get ready for the Pack's carolling at the Villa rest home on the 20th. Hope all you parents of Cubbers will make an extra effort to be at the party with your son. It is registration time once again for the Pack and we've been asked to remind moms and dads that the fee of 50 cents must be given to the Den Mothers by Jan. 1. The Christmas party would be an ideal time to give it to her. Last Chance No, it's not the name of a new joint just our way of getting you to read this. If you have not given anything to our Boy Scouts for their yearly drive for Christmas gifts for the residents of Dixon you can do so ; until Saturday evening. The gifts received are all wrapped and waiting to go but we have some paper left and we'd like to see it around more gifts. Did you give? If you didn't please, call either Jim Daurio or Ed Druml they'll be more than glad to pick it up. Roach's Birds Blue Ribbon Winners ^^tuth, Jim and Raymond Roach spent last weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brankin and their family in Chicago. They attended the 16th Nathe Windermere Hotel. On tional Caged Bird Exhibition at Friday evening Ruth and Jim attended the hospitality house where beverages and sandwiches were served. On Saturday evening it was a banquet in the Crystal Room with a meeting following the meal and proceeding the awarding of the trophies. The Kellog trophies were awarded before the dancing and entertainment. Jim surprised a lot of people with his rug cutting but after winning so many awards we can see why he was dancing. Ruth and Jim were awarded a trophy and Rosette for 4 best in show section and Rosette for 4th best in show plus 3, 1st in Class, 3, 2nd in class and 1, 3rd in class ribbons. Needless to say they were very thrilled. Mrs. Schultz of Country Club Estates helped Ruth train the birds. Ruth was also very thrilled by being able to sit in on the judging, athough she knew 4 of their birds were iri the group she did not know at th£ time she had watched the bird that won for them. After a very full and exciting weekend in the city they were all happy to return home to Lakeland Park on Sunday evening. Our congratulations are extended to the family. Strolling Through The Park Wednesday evening of last week had the bridge group at Lou McEnery's home. The group gathered for bridge but also for Lou's birthday. Seems Lou received gifts and also gave out gifts to each guest. Coming in as the evenings winners were Ruth McMahon in first and Ann Herzog in second. Refreshments were extremely delicious. Enjoying the evening besides the hostess and winners were Ivy Lezak, Lucille Deitz, Delia Julian, Joyce Braun and Gayle Laursen. Friday evening's Tripoley session at the home of Ivy Lezak proved rather exciting. Tripoley games were terrific, refreshments delicious and company compatible but there was some confussion when a short in some wiring and fuses were being blown and lights going out. Tripoley players are Del- Ruth McMahon, Edna Moun la Julian, Louise McEnery, tras, Grace Mandziara, Helen Kraskiewicz and Ann Herzog. Attending those new Slot Car races on last Tuesday in Libertyville were Les and Billy Eckhart, Norb and Norbie Kwiatek and Bobby Haug. Les took a group of the Hawks Boy Scout. Patrol tobogganing on Saturday and the Kwiateks and Eck harts went on Sunday. The boys were all pleased to see former resident Guy Rosendal. Rose and Ed Oswald have been busy making frequent trips to Evanston hospital to visit with their hospitalized son-in-law, Ed Geishecker. Before they went in on Sunday they visited with their grandson, Dave Druml, who was celebrating his birthday. Len and Vicki Bottari and their football player son, Ray, along with Jo and Paul Rizzo and their cheer leader captain daughter, Paulette, all attended the football banquet at Marian Central. Heard they had a wonderful time. Nedra Eckhart gave that favorite little girl of hers a small party for her birthday on Saturday. Guest of honor was Renee Plucinski. Mary, Jim, Mick, Jimmy and Tommy Daurio spent Sunday visiting with Jim's brother, Johnny, his wife, Val, and their family in Schiller Park. They had a wonderful day and a delicious dinner. The Ron Funk family spent Saturday away from the park helping out one of Sue's relatives wall paper their home. They now have a beautiful ret reiver as a pet. 'Spook" was a gift to the Funk youngsters from Ron's folks. Mary, Bob, April and Pat Faunt accompanied by "Pinky" and Don Smith of Johnsburg had quite a ball on Saturday evening. They all attended a terrific party held for the V.F.W. of Villa Park. Saturday evening had Sue and Matt Grizely joined by their friends, Jean and Ronnie Clark attended a play in the "Big City". The foursome had dinner also downtown and enjoyed the evening very much. Petey Oakford had been feeling pretty punk most of last week but did get in on the good side of the health ledger by Saturday so she and Jack could attend the Snow Ball Dance. Preceding the dance they had attended a cocktail party in Lake Villa at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gorens and Jack's companies Yule party in Vernon Hills. Petey's niece, Pat McCullough, had come out to baby sit and Pat's mother, Marilyn, joined them on Sunday. The gals spent Sunday making the holiday cookies. The Oakfords had had breakfast at the Kozy home following- the dance. Sounds like it was a very nice weekend and we're glad Petey got to enjoy it. Heard Airman Ricky Pike was a recent weekend guest at home. Rick is stationed at Chanute. Kathy and Kenny Becker had a very eventful weekend. They visited with their aunt Margaret in Evanston and were guests of Rev. Welch in Wilmette. They got to see one another on closed circuit T.V. and had breakfast at Father Welch's rectory. Irv, Bottie, Mary and Margie went into pick them up on Sunday. We would like to extend best wishes to Barbara and Don Dixon, who will be moving to Edgebrook Heights this weekend. The Dixons have lived in the park for four years. They have two children, Scott and Chris. Sure hope Maureen Johnson's badly injured finger improves rapidly, gonna make bowling rather difficult for her. She was injured at work. We sure hope that Pam Schwegel's leg has improved enough so she does get home this week, she's been laid up at home and the hospital far too long. Wayne Lawrence was a patient at McHenry hospital during last week but is now home where he will be confined for quite a while. Wayne suffered an eye injury but luckily there is not any permanent injury. Glad to report that Bill Radish is feeling much improved but still not completely A-OK. Kenny Becker, Larry Oakford, Terry Funk, Billy Eckhart and Bette Kamp are all among those who are far from on the best of health list. Edie Gerstad has also been not up to par. Our son Dave is also on the sick list and we pray that very high fever he had when he left here this morning has gone down. Ann Wohnrade was hostess for a going away Koffee Klatch for Vivian Steele last Wednesday evening. Attending was the guest of honor, Vivian, hostess Anne and Barbara Emery, Judy Janczak, Inga Pissowotzk< and Donna Rode. The girls gave Vivian a beautiful nightgown as a going away present. Anne served coffee and a hi-calorie dessert. Jeanette, Jack and Johnny Hertzog celebrated Johnny's fourth birthday in Pennsylva nia on the 28th of November. Both sets of Johnny's grandparents live in the steel state Heard they had a wonderful trip. Penny Veenhius has been just thrilled telling all her fpiends about the latest feat of her father, Virgil Adams, who shot a deer in Wisconsin. He did it the hard way with bow and arrow. Dave Druml was guest of honor over the weekend for his twentieth birthday. He also thrilled his two younger brothers and his girl's brother by taking them hunting very early Sunday morning. They were pleased with what they got. Having dinner with the Drumls was Dave's girl, Donna Smith. Two of his Marine buddies were also out on Saturday. Several of his friends along with his grandparents, Rose and Ed Oswald, Dottie and Irv Becker were among those who helped enjoy his day. It was a shame that Dave had to end up very ill and we hope he's okay real soon. Greetings came from his older Air Force brother, Bud, his pictures showed the sands of the desert, they out do our huge snow drifts, but oh, what a difference in temperatures. Hope you remember to get a gift to the Scouts before Saturday evening. Don't forget those Indian dance tickets for their coming show. Any Scout has them.
