Mrs. Bradley received a paid trip to New York tp appear on this program for writing a story about the Samoyed dogs they raise. Appearing on the show with her \yas one pf these puppies. Mrs. Bradley also showed a sweater that had been knitted from the hair of the dogs. Mr. and Mrs. Bradley flew to New York on Sunday, Nov. 22. The two day visit was spent in sight seeing, shopping at swank shops. Of course we can't forget the hand shakes with such well known personalities as Tony Perkins and Julius LaRosa. Plans are being made for Mrs. Bradley to appear on a local television program next year,. Association News The attendance for the monthly meeting of the Pista- *kee Highlands Association on E«jc. 2 was only TEN, I hope ounirad weather was the cause for this and not disinterest. Needless to say no actual meeting could be held. There is still a need for manpower to get the needed work done at the community center. A lot of people have worked very hard to get the center to look as it does today, many will remember the old cold barn of a few years ago.; but it is not finished and a lot of work is still needed to be done and along with work goes workers, so if there are any men in the community who would like to give a helping hand, call any one of the association officers or if you would rather contact me and I will be very happy to relay your name and talents to the right person. At present there is a need for some one with electrical know how to install ceiling lights that were donated to the community center a couple of years ago. Plans are well under, way for the New Years's Eve dance at the Community Center. A band from the Highlands has been booked for the occasion. Terrace Tidings Wednesday through Sunday, Nov. 29, the Dacks spent at the home of the senior Dacks in Lansing, Mich. Recent guests at the Hawkins home were Mr. and Mrs. A1 Kovah of Royal Oak, Mich. Thanksgiving guests at the Russ Parker home were Mr, and Mrs. Charles Schwebke of Chicago and Elsie and Henry Andersen of McHenry. Kathi Parker, a freshman at McHenry high school, made the B honor roll. We wish you continued success and hope you will be able to stay on the honor roll, Kathi. George" and Wilma Stader spent Wednesday and Thursday visiting with their aunt and uncle in Paw Paw, 111. George was able to get in some hunting on this trip . Visiting the Val Patulas were friends from Phoenix, Ariz., Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hutchinson and their two children. Starting with Thanksgiving, Norbert, LaVerne, Carolyn and Keith Mierzwa were guests of Grandma and Grandpa Mierzwa and also Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder, all of Chicago. On Friday Laverne, Carolyn and Keith Mierzwa did the loop with Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Schroeder, Curtis, Chris and Carrie. Laverne and her brother took the children window shopping and toyland gazing. On Thursday evening Jerry Dicks attended the Lady Bugs Christmas party at a well known German restaurant in Chicago. The evening was most enjoyable as the waiters sang many different arrangements. The conclusion of the program consisted of some of the most beautiful Christmas Carols. Brownies The weekly meeting of the Brownies was held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the community center. Jamie Malek was the Brownie of the week. The girls were very busy working on their Christmas projects. Mount Hope Church New* In the absence of Rev. Doenecke the youth Minister Rev. Jay Althouse delivered the sermon for Sunday, Nov. 29. The Women's Society of Christian Service met on Dec. 8. The ladies put on a small religious play for their own enjoyment. Also at this time there was a gift exchange. The new Intermediate Youth Fellowship officers are: Dick Morley, president, Linda Leuth, vice-president, Guy Erbin, treasurer, Leslie Barnings, secretary Doreen Patterson, workshop chairman and Chuck Remle, recreation manager. Teen Club The teens really out did themselves at the parent-teen night on Nov. 30. The hit of the show was Chris Zielinski as "Baby Rose Gyspy" and of course there was the traditional chorus line of beauties, these charmers were: Ron Kwak, Bob Pulk and Jimmy Messell. The finale of the show was a dance by Gretchen Sneiglets and and Chris Zelinski. Mrs. Harriet Wilson received a gift in recognition for her past help with the Teen Club. Mrs. Ferris and Mrs. Kosiak deserve a big hand for the help they gave the teams in making this night one to remember. A delicious buffet supper was served and I'm sure all the parents had a marvelous time. HOLIDAY INEZ YOUNG Holiday Hop December 12 Home On Leave Roy and Magee Sluga have a special reason for joy this coming holiday season, their oldest son, Ron, will be home on a thiry day furlough. Dick and Lee Conway celebrated their eighteenth wedding anniversary wih a party at the community center on Dec. 5. Cookie Party Mary Mahon and Helen Baettcher were hostesses for what has come to be a part of holiday tradition here--a cookie party. Held on Friday, Pec. 4, each guest brought a batch of cookies, which were distributed among all present, giving everyone a nice variety of home made cookies and a chance to check on some new recipies. Inez Young, Americanism chairman, reported that the McHenry Country club purchased their flag through our organization. Marge Moreth attended the 5th district meeting. In her report she said that the 5th district gave $5,000 worth of ful things you can do on a farm with your cousins. We finished up our vacation on Saturday with our friends Amy and Bud Street from Wonder „ Lake and June and Pete Witzman from Larkdale. canned goods to the National Home at Eaton Rapids, Mich. It was an Interesting meeting, highlighted by two speakers. 0ne spoke on Civil Defense and the other on the Elgin hospital. Lil, Wally pjjd Ethel Groth, Bill and Marge Moreth and our auxiliary president, Gen Bradley, and husband, Roy. They said a total of 635 attended and Enjoyed fine food and entertainment. Xhe Christmas basket committee, consisting of Rehabilitation Chairman Ethel Groth, Child Welfare Teenie Morrison, Treasurer Marge Moreth and President Gen Bradley, will meet to fill the baskets. Anyione else interested in assisting is welcome. Don't forget the Christmas party on Dec. 14. Bring a guest, a dish to pass, a one dollar grab bag and canned goods for the rifeedy baskets. The dinner will start at 6:30, so mark this date and plan to attend. After the business meeting, Bill Molinare, post quartermaster, came in to talk to the auxiliary about a moneymaking project.
