Bethel To Hold Installation The Elmer Meyers Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Biff) Meyer of Chicago were honored recently at a reception in the Sheridan - O'Hare - Brass Rail restaurant cm their twenty- fifth wedding anniversary. Mr. Meyer and Miss Esther Olson were united in marriage in Chicago, Nov .23, 1939. Their attendants were Mrs. Donald Hayes of Chicago and Leo Meyer of McHenry, who were present for the happy occasion. WSC8 To Enjoy Luncheon Meeting The Women's Society of Christian Service of the Community Methodist church will meet on Thursday, Dec. 17, with a prayer service beginning at 11:45 and the luncheon to be served at noon. A program, "The Birthday of a King," in scripture and music will be directed by Mrs. David Dolby. Narration will be by Mrs. Ernest Carder and Mrs. Robert Kozy. DAR CHAPTER HEARS TALK ON STATE GOVERNMENT The Kishwaukee Trail chapter of the DAR met at the home of Mrs. John McConnell, 13105 Charles road Woodstock, recently. Following the business meeting, a delicious luncheon was served by Mrs. McConnell and her committee, Mrs. Joseph Knuth and Mrs. A. B. McConnell. The afternoon was climaxed by an interesting and informative talk by State Rep. A. B. McConnell on "Our State Government". Mr. McConnell described the course of a bill through the General Assembly into the Senate and urged members of the DAR to visit Springfield and observe their state governing body in action. The next regular meeting of the chapter will be at the home of Mrs. K. O. Andrews, 349 Vine street, Woodstock. Frances Lynn of McHenry was granted a divorce from Larry W. The Boy Builders acted as escorts for the new worthy patron and Job's Daughters as escorts for the new worthy matron. Job's Daughters also performed the Dance of the Lord's Prayer in a style acclaimed by all who were present. SERVES AT HALL Lynne Buckie, 1303A N. Richmond road, McHenry, is serving as house fellow of the Unit V Elizabeth Waters hall at the University of Wisconsin at Madison during this school year. All organized student groups and resident houses and dormitories at the University, several hundred of them in all, hold regular annual elections and choose their officers and leaders. The organizations all serve their student members in their educational, social, and recreational activities during the school year on the Wisconsin campus. DAR CHAPTER PACKS GIFTS FOR MOUNTAIN SCHOOLS Members of Kishwaukee Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, have been busy this past month collecting packages for the two schools which the national organization of DAR supports. It is hoped that the individually wrapped gifts Will bring Christmas cheer to the children. The large box of used, but good clothing, should find a ready sale to the mountain people and add to funds needed to carry on the work of the schools. Mrs. Charles L. MacCallum of Libertyville is DAR school chairman. She and her committee members, Mrs. Oscar Holmgren of Wonder Lake and Mrs. Kenneth Petersen of McHenry, are in charge of collecting and sending packages to these schools which are located in the mountains of Alabama and South Carolina. The Kate Duncan Smith school is at Grant, in Marshall county, Ala. Its twenty finesttractive buildings are located on the south slope of Gunter Mountain. It was established in 1924 by the Alabama Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. There are 656 day students. Tamassee, in Tamassee, South Car., is a similar mountain schoo). It furnishes food, clothing and lodging to 250 pupils, and offers free educa tion to 250 boys and girls who live within walking distance. Chapters of DAR throughout the country have* formed the pleasant habit of "adopting" a child each year. This year, in accordance with a request from Mrs. Earl Smith of Woodstock, an 11-year-old, Gail Ramey, has been adopted. She will be sent many gifts at Christmas time from members of the local chapter of DAR, and will be remembered on birthday and other occassions. Jier COLLEGE OBSERVANCE Three activities will highlight Edgewood college Gaudete Sunday Christmas observances on Sunday, Dec. 13. Planned are a resident student dinner with 100 children as guests, a day student tree trimming party aind a concert by the Baroque , chorus and the Milton Chamber ensemble. Freshmen student chairmen include Susan Pawlikowski of 1110 N. Green street, McHenry. JOINS FRATERNITY Theta Omicron chapter of Phi Beta Lambda was recently organized on the Illinois State university campus to become the 164th chapter of the professional business fraternity in the nation. DON LEE LAMBERT Mr. and Mrs. Don Lee Lambert were married at Christ the King church, Wonder Lake, on Saturday, Nov. 21. The' bride; is the former Rosemary Ann Roti, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rocco J. Roti of Wonder Lake. The groom is tbe son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lambert, Sr., of Beaverville, 111. The newlyweds have just returned from a honeymoon in Quebec, Canada. Presently, they reside in Crestwood, 111. Mrs. Lambert has resumed her responsibilities as a teadier in the Oak Lawn district. Her husband is an intern psychologist in the Tinley Park district. GRANTED DIVORCE Leola Sugara of McHenry was granted a divorce from her husband, Cosimo, by Judge James H. Cooney in Circuit court last week. MEDICAL ASSISTANTS MEET The regular monthly meeting of the McHenry County Medical Assistants association will be held Dec. 17 at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Dima Benner in Huntley. An interesting evening has been planned. NUN TRANSFERRED Sister Florence Mary, the former Jewel May of McHenry, has been transferred from St. Joseph's convent, South Bend, Ind., to Holy Redeemer convent, 3650 W. 96th street, Evergreen Park, 111., where she is teaching second and third grades.
