They are to meet at the Community house Sunday, Dec. 20, at 1:45 and in uniform. Drivers will be needed so any of you parents who are able, please give Mr. Matthews a call. Brownies The girls are working on their Christmas projects at their meetings starting last week Tuesday. Christmas carols were practiced for their Dec. 22 meeting when the girls are going carolling. The treat was served by Shirley Meurer, decorated Christmas cookies which she made herself. This week Kim Ludwig brought treats. Boy Scout News: There will hot be any Scout meetings for two weeks. The next meeting will be on Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Ed Druml, Scoutmaster, and Jim Daurio, Committee Chairman, took out a truck full of clothes and gifts to Dixon on Sunday. The roads were sheets of ice when the two men left the park at 6 a.m. and was a tedious drive all the way but a very rewarding one when the men reached Dixon. Another group of gifts will be taken out on Monday, Dec. 21 and a final count can be given. The Scout Leaders and Scouts want to express how grateful they are to everyone for making their drive a sue cess. friend and Barb's youngest son, John, reaches age 6 on the 20th. Two other subdivision favorites, Jo Rizzo and Bill Radish, both celebrate on the 20th also. Cute little Kelly Flannigan reaches age 6 on the 21st. On the 22nd handsome Billy Oakford also becomes 6. That wonderful person, Nedra Eckhart, says she'll be 29 on the 23rd. And those two likeable people, Liz and Fritz Borchert, share another year of wedded bliss. Hope each of you gets your every wish. Merry Makers Lakeland Park's 4-H Club, The Merry Makers, have held their election of officers. President is Linda Schultz, vice president, Patricia Rizzo, Secretary, Janice Harris, treasurer, Carol Crandall. Reporter is Kevin Schultz. Federation delegate ig Gale-Braun with Mary Sweeney as alternate. On Dec. 20 the group will go Christmas carolling. They will leave from the Community House at 7 p.m. Parents are urged to attend, not only for this but for all meetings. After the carolling refreshments will be served at the home of Marilyn and Carol Crandal. They recently had ijfreir Christmas party and we Were told it was a very wonderful time. Next; meeting is at 1 p.m. on J.an 2. at the Community House, new members are always welcome. Baptism Sunday, Dec. 6, saw loveable little Michelle Ann Wohlert baptized into the Roman Catholic church by the Rev. Matthew Rudden of St. Mary's church. Michelle's god-parents are her great aunt, Mrs. Mary Dahlke of Union, and her great uncle, Cass Polizzi of Woodstock. Besides her god-parents little Michelle was honored by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Wohlert of Mc- Henry, great grandmother, Mrs. Andrew Genuldi of Wauconda, great grandmother Mrs. Gertrude Kloeckner of the park. Marie and 'Harry are bursting with pride over their new daughter. May the Infant Jesus watch over Michelle and the whole Wohlert family. Christmas Tree That very beautiful tree that is in the Community house is really to be aapreciated. Les Eckhart and Mr. Thilges put it up and it was trimmed by Nedra Eckhart and Jo Rizzo. The ladies tell us some more ornaments would be appreciated, so if you have even just one spare one take it down and put it on the tree. We think the Community should feel very proud to have people willing to help provide the Christmas spirit to our hall for everyone to enjoy. Woman's Club A lovely evening was had last week Thursday by fiftyseven of our women at the Woman's Club annual Christmas party. A delicious buffet with chicken and roast beef was served at the McHenry Country club. After dinner Mrs. Ray had some of her dance students put on an enjoyable show for us. The girls from the Park were Kathy Becker, JoAnn Rizzo, Pam Laursei Jolyne Vane., Donna Kaminski, Barbara Osmon, Nancy Matthews and Shirley and Linda Meurer. The other girls were Patty Smith, Mary Jo Smith, Cheryl Hansen and Carol Olszewski. The girls were then treated to ice cream sundaes and pop plus Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa gave each of them a rememberance from the club. The women were also given their grab bag gift by Santa. All enjoyed themselves very much and am sure they are already looking forward to next years. Early Deadline Due to the holiday next week we have to have the news in by tomorrow noon, Friday. Please give us a call Thursday evening or before noon Friday. Strolling Through The Park Larry Timm celebrated his eighth birthday last week on the 9th of December. The Sunday before, Larry's grandparents came out from Rockton to help celebrate with a birthday cake. Last Saturday his Aunt Lu and Uncle A1 Oeffling and their three boys came out from Johns burg with Mrs. Timm serving cupcakes. The Matthews family went into the city Sunday afternoon to attend the christening of Jessie's nephew* Robert Beck. His parents are Bob and Kathy Beck. The Oakfords had a combined birthday party for Meg who was 2 years old on tbe8th, and Billy, who will be 6 years old on the 22nd and Petey's brother-in-law, Pete Paulsen, who claims voting age on the 10th. Petey served dinner to Eileen and Pete Paulsen and daughter, Cindy, Marilyn Mc- Cullough and daughter, Patty, Duke Grondy and his wife, Connie, and son, Mark, and her Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley. Dave Wickenkamp has finally : reached that wonderful age of 8 where he will be starting Little League and Cub Scouts. His mother gave him a party all with a baseball theme. They played baseball games, had baseball favors, and had a special baseball cake. The boys who enjoyed this unusual party were Billy Burman, Dave Wohnrade, Jimmy Hahn, Jeffrey Bierman, Doug Mayer, Skipper Jensen and Davey. Kuhns, Wally and Ann, had a (holiday season party last Saturday with Carlton and Shirley 1 Smith, Nancy and Merle Gardiner, Pat Hamil and Tom jBitterman, Nancy and gjc/ Pettersen, Morrie and Carole Ketchum and Mr. and Mrs. Crawford. Grandma and grandpa Becker spent Saturday evening and afternoon with Dottie, Irv and the Becker children. A2/C Mike Meyer from McHenry was dinner guests with the Druml family on Wednesday evening. Mike is a very good friend of the Drumls' older son, Bud. Mike was home on leave from his Air Force Base at Lowry Field. Billy Eckhart spent Saturday evening with Norbie Kiatek while his folks attended Les's company's Christmas party. The Kwiateks took Billy Christmas shopping and had themselves quite a day and evening. Nedra, Les and Billy Eckhart spent Sunday in the city. Nedra's daughter's Club had their yearly Christmas party. The members of the club also gave Nedra a promise that they will start right after the first of the new year to collect Christmas gifts for the Boy Scouts Drive for the residents of Dixon for 1965. This group sent out many, many gifts for this year. Gerry, Lloyd Wagner and their children spent Sunday celebrating several of the family members birthdays. The party was held at Gerry's sisters home in Oakhurst. Jane and Jim Umbarger were hosts to Gerry's godchild, Holly, Gerry's and Jane's dad, Mr. Ii|£- baugh, and to her nephetf, Steve Harrison. Wonder ^if everyone had three pieces of cake from each of the celebrants? Rose and Ed Oswald went into Evanston to the home of their daughter, Blanche, on Saturday. Their son-in-law, Ed, has just been released from St Francis hospital and is confined to bed at home. Hope Ed improves rapidly now he's home, he's had quite a siege of it since Thanksgiving Day. On Sunday the Oswalds had dinner and several Canasta games with their good friends, Barb and Joe Herman, of Lake Marie. Joan and Ray Plucinski had Ray's folks as dinner guests on Sunday. There was special celebrating for Renee's belated birthday and for Joan's birthday which was on the 15th. Get-well wishes go to Earl Dowell and to Larry Lynn who are both hospital patients. Also to Pam Schwegel who had been laid up for such a long time. Saturday the Kamps ended their day of Christmas shopping visiting with life long friends, Barb and Willie Fiala of Crystal Lake. On Sunday the Kamps' home was kept very busy with a steady stream of friends dropping in for Bette's good coffee. Dinner guests at Jan and Bob Kozy's home on Sunday were Bob's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kozy of Palatine. Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Kosieracki of the Park joined them for several games of cards in the evening. Sympathy Extended The deepest sympathy of the subdivision is extended to Ed Linnane and his family on the recent death of his mother, Margaret. Ed's dad, Edward, and five grandchildren are among her survivors. Funeral mass was sung on Saturday from St. Peter Canisius church and interment was at Queen of Heaven. May she rest in peace. LONG SERVICE A report from the Chicago and North Western Railway company previously listed William M. Molnaire of McHenry as retiring from his position in the accounting department after twenty-seven years and ten months. Actually, Mr. Molnaire has been with the company for forty-seven years and ten months. He is now serving as quartermaster for the Veterans of Foreign Wars in McHenry. Proceding the mass there will be a procession of altar boys and little girls dressed as angels to the Nativity scene at the side altar. The infant Jesus in the crib will be blessed by Father Lehman while the children sing Christmas hymns. Masses on Christmas day will be at 6:30, 8, 9, 10 and 11:15 a.m. Methodist Church Program The Sunday school pupils of Methodist church will give their Christmas program Sunday morning at 9:30. Church services will include a special chorus at eleven o'clock. Christmas Bazaar The rummage sale and Christmas bazaar given by the PTA in the public school Saturday, Dec. 5 was well attended. The PTA wishes to thank all the helpers and those who otherwise helped make this a success. John Thomson dressed as Santa Claus arrived in his horse and sleigh to the delight of all the children. Santa handed out candy to all the kiddies. LCWC The Lotus Country Women's club met at the Ida Koberstine home on Wednesday, Dec. 2 for a one o'clock luncheon. Rose Marks and Janette Helbling were co-hostesses. The program for the afternoon was a Christmas musical given by Ida Koberstine on the organ. Many beautiful selections were played. Hospitalized John Sanborn is in Belmont hospital, Chicago. He was taken there Tuesday evening for emergency surgery. He is home now and recovering nicely. Thanksgiving Guests The Phil Parfrey family and Joe Condon family of Richmond were Thanksgiving dinner guests in the Daniel Miller home. Mrs. Alice Stevens entertained the Earl Harrison family of Burlington, Wis., on Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. William Shotliff, Mrs. Alice Wagner and Miss Lillian Sanborn drove to Waukegan to spend ITS&nksgiving .with Mr, and Mrs. Edward Shotliff.
