Parkview, starting at 8 p.m. The gals are very fortunate to have such beautiful facilities made available to them. We understand the basement recreation room is very handsome . and has been made more so by the efforts of hosts -- Carrie and Frank. Homemade Christmas cookies, yummy salads, and all the accompanying goodies will be spread on the holiday-table. Liquid refreshments of several varieties should prove ver-r-r-y popular! Petey Schmidt has one of the finest reputations as a party giver--sort of the Perle Mesta of McCullom Lake! She will be ably assisted by Marge Olsen, Elma Nelson, and others on her committee. Each woman attending is asked to bring an exchange gift costing no more than a dollar. Rich Johnson is helping Santa Claus with his happy tasks and this fellow is a marvel with youngsters of all ages. The improvement organization offers a valuable service to the community with their entertainment for our younger generation and we should be exceedingly grateful to them! Toys For Tots Last Pick-up Saturday, Deo. 19 The fina/da4e to leave toys for youngsters who might be skipped when Santa makes his calls is Saturday. Dec. 19, at McDonald's. This will allow a few days for some repairs which need to be made on the articles. Villagers have been generous in their sharing and there is still time for those who forgot. Last Saturday, a large array was collected by Marines Roger Lets of Kenosha, Tom Larson. Round Lake, Dick Picket (who is responsible for the local depot) and American Legion Post 491 Commander Tim McCormack. The first two mentioned operate from the Marine Barracks, Waukegan. ' Orange Blossoms For Carol Aalto - Young; blonde, and lovely Carol Aalto, Virginia and Ray's daughter, was married last Saturday in Woodstock to her fiance, Mr. William E. Laine of Mundelein. The couple announced^ their engagement July 20 of this year. Other details appear elsewhere in the Plaindealer. She made a pretty picture in her suit of white mohair, pinned with a beautiful orchid corsage while her closest chum-- Joanne Reid, wore a complementing outfit of beige mohair. Joanne's flowers were white carnations. Ronald Branke of Mundelein served his friends as best man. The newlyweds are living in Mundelein where Mr. Laine is employed as a painter. Our sincere best wishes for their ever increasing happiness. A story which gives us a great deal of pleasure to print is the happy news that Melinda Adams and her husband Gene remarried and the family is complete once more. The couple has two beautiful children who can not help but benefit from the reunion. Melinda and Gene renewed their vows in Mexico and paused in that southern country for a brief honeymoon. They purchased a home on Ellen Road, south of town and are having a wonderful time furnishing it. Should be an extremely joyous Christmas for parents -- Marion and Leo Scarbrough, when son, John, comes home from his third year at Northern Illinois University for the holidays and all their children and grandchildren gather 'round. your curiosity is sufficiently aroused! 'A To Be Continued We are saving a nice surprise for our next column with happy news from another village family. It, too, concerns orange blossoms--two batches. Hope Bill Walter -- One Of The Greatest!! One of the finest gestures was witnessed by this reporter last Saturday when Bill Walter made his annual trek to Chicago with a large group of kiddies ranging in ages from 4-10 years. This is the seventh trip of this nature for Bill who originated the idea when his own small fry wished to see the loop andt Santa Claus. In other years, he has been accompanied by other daddies including Ole Olsen, and teens --Bernice and Diane Bjork. This year chaperones were Elma Nelson, teener Jeanette Hocin, and this reporter. We shepherded nineteen cuties composed of twelve boys and seven girls aboard the train at 7:42 a.m. Lovely carols and other Christmas songs jrovided entertainment (?) for all early morning traveller^ Marching in twos, we entered a loop restaurant for breakfast where wee Billy Lorch almost caused a heart attack for an older lady having scrambled eggs! She was quickly won over when she heard the story! Then it was on to Field's-- up 8 floors on the escalator-- and through a line which took about 50 minutes. Elma was chief in charge of holding wraps. Through the crowds and back down, we marched to Carson's for their display. Too long to wait, but a very generous guard commandeered balloons for the tribe. This was also on the 8th floor! On we trooped down Madison street to another restaurant where they were waiting for us with delicious burgers-- fries--and milk. At both "eateries", the waitresses were generous with their praise of the children's manners. We were very pleased. Unfortunately, space doesn't permit the writing of the many amusing anecdotes but all of us have conversation fodder for a long time to come. The youngsters who were part of the entourage included Jim and Vince Lennon; Yolanda, Gloria, and Sylvia Fernandez; Lorene (Suzie) and Daurene (D.G.) Vycital; J. R., Bruce, Michael, and Kurt Walter; Jimmy and Timmy Hocin; Margie Olsen; Billy Lorch; Kevin Ingersol; Donny Burg; and D.D and Matt Levesque. We have been covering this story each year with its heart warming message, but it was truly a privilege to have been a part of it. There must be a special place in heaven for Bill and his wife, Gert, who has also aided and abetted him in this project! Navy Son Comes Home Greg Burg surprised his parents by arriving at O'Hare Airport last Friday morning on a permanent basis. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in San Diego on Dec. 10 as a fireman. His aunt, Mary Burg, provided transportation home. He looks wonderful and is making plans for the future. First, he will take time for some needed recreation. Another Navy Lad Rated Marge and Ed Stacknick are glowing over the report that son, Butch, was advanced to MM3C recently while aboard the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga. He has been working very hard for the advancement including holding down two jobs aboard ship. When he returns, he should have romantic tales to spin about Hong Kong, Subic Bay and other remote ports. He was on the high seas for some 65 days and then back to port in Japan. According to his mom and dad, his ship was scheduled to dock in San Diego yesterday (Wednesday) but will not be home for the holidays.
