Hockey We learned tod^y that a group of our teeri age boys have formed a hockey team and play down on ) Herzog Beach on Sunday afternoons. We don't have the names of the boys who are playing but they did send over the following article for us. These are the sort of things we appreciate so very much. How about some backing for the boys, they deserve a pat on the back. Normally ail we ever hear is bad about teenagers so we think this group deserves some cheers from all of us. Their article is as follows; "Sunday, Lakeland Park Vikings split a double header against the McCullom Lake Black hawks. The Blackhawks won the first game by a score of 7 to 4. Then the Vikings came right back and won the second game by a score of 5 to 2. Next tfjamp will be Sunday the 16th at 1:30 at Herzog Beach. The Vikings will meet the Wonder Lake Wildcats." S Troop 459 Our troop is very busy practicing for their .coming show ar the - Junior Hi^h School on the 30th of this month. Besides our regular meetings at which an hour is spent on practice, our Scoutmaster is having extra practice in his home for different groups on different nights. Lakeland Park Woman's Club A very short meeting was held last Thursday with announcements of coming events being announced. On Feb. 13 there is to be a bake sale and in March, on the 31st there is to be a luncheon and a hat sale combined. Following the meeting, the women went in "a body to pay their last respects to Bill Radisch, the late husband of our beloved treasurer, Lyda. Lakeland Park Couples Bowling At our last bowling night, the first round of this season saw the Dodgers and Braves tied for first place with four wins. The Cubs and Pirates are next with three wins apiece, The Mets and Orioles have one win apiece and the Sox and Yankees have no wins. Clar Haerle still holds high series scratch with 541 and Irv Becker has 641 high series with handicap. Of the women, Barb Meurer took over high series scratch with 490 series and Dot tie Becker has a 678 series with handicap. Our next bowling jpight is Jan.; 23. Her birthday was actually the 4th of January but she had the chicken pox at that time. Barbara Tiffany, Debbie Barwig, Cheryl Nuss, Karen Roepken, Christine Jaenicke, Debbie George, and her sister, Wendy, and brother, Kenny? helped her with her celebration. v Helen Kraskiewicz surprised her better halfi Gene, with a surprise birthday party fast Friday evening. Those helping to celebrate and see Gene blow out one candle were Ann Herzog, Ivy and Stan Lezak, Delia Julian, Tony and Florence Piaseeki. Their daughter and her hQsband and children were unable to attend*due to mumps among the children. Son, Mike," and Danny Lezak were also among the celebrants/ John and Angele Thilges had Rose and Ed Oswald as their guests for games of "66" on Friday evening. Saturday saw the Oswalds hosts to Barb and Joe Herman of Lake Marie for dinner and an evening of canasta. On Sunday they went into Evanston to have dinner with their youngest -daughter and to visit with Rose's ill brot her, Bert. Ann Herzog was hostess to the bridge group on Wednesday evening. Enjoying Ann's hospitality and delicious food were Ruth McMahon, who took top honors and Ruth Chadwick, who took second place. The other players were Louise Mc- Enery, Ivy Lezak, Ann Leigh, Delia Julian, Joyce Braun and Gayle Laursen. Thursday, Grace Mandziara had- the tripoley group for lunch. Enjoying the very delicious meal were Delia Julian, Ann Herzog, Louise McEnery, Ruth McMahon, Edna Hountras, Ivy Lezak and Grace's mother, Viola Bull, who has been down for a visit from Wisconsin. Ann Herzog had her daughter, Kay, and her "son-in-law, Ellis Steen, as guests for dinner and the day last Sunday. The past week was one pf sadness for our subdivision when Bill Radisch went to his eternal reward on. Monday evening. Bill had suffered a stroke early in the morning. Bill and Lyda are two of our most respected residents and words at this time are very hard to find to express how we both really feel. Bill was a very wonderful active 73 years young -- and anyone who came in contact with him couldn't help "but feel his touch for humanity and life. Bill had been a very active member in many organizations. He leaves behind him his wife, Lyda, three children and nine grandchildren. We know that Bill will be remembering all of us in his prayers and he shall be remembered by all of us.
