David Edward arrived right on Christianas Day at McHenry hospital, receiving an immediate title: Biggest baby in the hospital: 8 lbs. 4 oz., 21'-2 inches •long. With dark eyes and black hair that "turns nicely", Duane and Sandy think their first-born is "pretty cute". Although Sandy and David botfi suffered complications after they came home from the hospital, both are feeling fine now and are getting adjusted to family life. It was on Jan. 10 that David Edward became one of the flock. He was christened at St. John's church by Father Weideman, and thought the whdle thing was pretty fine until the -water was poured on. Then he really let his feelings be known: and such strong feelings! After the ceremony, Sandy and Duane hosted David's godparents, who are Duane's and Sandy's cousins respectively, Karen Seyler and Paul Deidrich and their families, and also David's paternal grandtfiother and maternal great-grandfather for a memorable afternoon. Hats Orf . . . t o a l l t h e b o y s a n d m e n Who have done such a grand job on the ice skating pond. The entlr lot Is now covered with a gtod thick coat of ice. giving plenty of space for the skaters of all ages. Some of the high school boys even shoveled Uie entire pond after a .very heavy snow. It will be plowed when it can be arranged. Many thanks to all the workers. What Happened . „ • t o t h e o n e d o l l a r f a m i l y skatihg fee? Nothing. Unless there are further developments, skating is gratis again, as usual. Cull Her Bott-SIo-No-Mo Flash, the lovable, loppy bonnie lassie collie that is the slowest thing around the Bott house, and who was named Flash for her lovable, loppy, lazy manner, proved that her name is not necessarily a facetious mis-no'mcr. On January 27th, Flash increased the size of the Bott household by, TWELVE. As Matt was merit ing his mid-wife medal the neighbors could . periodicaljy hear, "Not another one!" But yes, there was another, and another, and another . . . And although two of the pups didn't survive long after birth, Flash is the proud mother of ten cute little part-collie pups, all sizes and colors. No discrimination among the young, thank goodness. All Pat could say was "Am I glad I left for work when I did." Happy Anniversary On the 7th to Bob and Betty Lakowske who will celebrate their seventeenth year of togetherness. Zeiniets Return From Florida The Zeimets spent two weeks in South Venice, Fla., with Sam's sister, Mrs.- Margaret Maloney. While there they took a trip to Florida Land, Sarasota, Tampa and St. Petersburg and visited friends i n N o k o m i s . T h e w e a t h e r turned quite cold and it rained, all part of the bad weather we were all experiencing at that time. They flew back on a jet and arrived at O'Hare on Saturday morning just in time to see our ice storm and snow and the plane had to circle the airport for an hour before landing. The day they left Florida it had warmed up to 73 degrees and as they say in that commercial 'That made them mad'. Well they had a nice visit with Margaret and a vacation and are now back home shoveling sfiow and sliding around the roads with the rest of us. Although this cold is not very pleasant we in - McHenry can be. very grateful for having heat and power all through the storm as there were many not as fortunate as us. According to the reports this morning it was anywhere from 16 to 20 below zero so hope by the time you are leading this it has warmed up a great deal. Keep warm and I will see you next week. She had the entire household frantically searching for her jacket, over, under, inside of, around, and between everything. For fifteen minutes everyone searched while four year old Candy became more and more distressed that her jacket would not allow itself to be found NOW. Amidst her tears and mutter's of misery the jacket was finally discovered-- and ' Columbus "couldn't have received a greater welcome in Spain than did this founder from Candy. Drying her tears and smiling like a little Santa* to leave the North Pole with a loaded sleigh, Candy allowed herself to be helped into her jacket, and out the door she zoomed. Ah, peace regained. Moment later: KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK. "Yes?" "I forgot something," said Candy. "What did you forget?" asked Mrs. Gam. "I forgpt I didn't want to go out."!!!
