It takes a lot of money to run a ball dubr>so we hope that jail of the boys who are planning to play ball will help out/the treasury a little by buying^ ticket to the skating party tonight. Hockey Sunday the Lakeland Park Vikings had a double header with the McCullom Lake Blackhawks. The Vikings won both games by the scores of 10 to 4 and 7 to 3. Good teamwork was shown on both teams, especially by the Vikings. The players on the Vikings are, Bob Townsend, George Piccole, Bill Chadwick, Jim Laursen, Frank Vanek, Ken Prazak, Mike Johnson and John Henneburg. Blue and Gold Dinner , For Cub Scouts The Cub Scouts Blue and Qold dinner will be held on Feb. 28, at 3 p.m. at the American Legion. If you haven't been contacted by your den mother as to what you are to bring, Sease contact her. Each fami is to bring a meat dish to pass plus another dish which will be designated. The boys should be in uniform. The dinner will take the place of our regular pack meeting. Girl Scouts Troop 820 On Feb. 8 we had our investiture" and we got our badges. We played Ruth and Jacob. Brownies The Brownie meeting was Opened with the Flag ceremony, rfhe girls then went to work And made valentine favors for their mothers. They also sang gongs and had their clean-up duty before they closed with the magic tunnel. Debbie George was chosen to serve this week. Some of the Brownies do not Have their Brownie1 handbooks yet. Mrs. Webber picked some Up when she went to Elgin last week and these may be had by bringing your money to the meeting next week. The girls use them regularly at their meetings so it is necessary for each girl to have her own. Woman's Club Bake Sale A Success Anyone going into Justen's Store last Saturday where the Woman's club held their bake Bale was greeted with the smell of fresh bakery goods. Everything looked so good. you had a hard time choosing what to buy. The ladies really outdid themselves with their homemade bread, pies, cakes, etc. It was a huge success and of course we have to give the credit to Jpyce Braun and her committee Mary Antepenko, Delores Belohlavy, Delores Rogers, Doris Krueger, Penny Veenfeuis and Petey Oakford. On the 22nd sharing George Washington's birthday is Cindy Grote who fcill be 18. On the 23rd Kenny Quast will be 6 and on the 24th the following all share birthdays, Debbie Leigh, Bill Humphries, Lloyd Wagner, Linda Grizley who turns 8 and pavid George who turns 11. Among The Sick It seems like everyone is just Recovering, or coming down with this strange virus going around as well as the measles rid the mumps. Carole Matthews is in with the measles. The Becker children, Margie, Mary, and Kenny all have been sick, Sharon Wagner has a bad throat; Ken Grothman has been in bed with the flu; Tommy Daurio has a cold with sore throat and high fever; Sue Funk has the bug and Bette Kamp is still recovering from it; Mr. Walker from the corner store has been a patient at Woodstock hospital; Louise McEnery is home after being in the hospital for quite a while; Sue Grizely had surgery done on her kidney last week and is doing well.. She is at Michael Reese hospital and would appreciate a card I'm sure; Kevin Druml had a mild concussion when he fell on the ice; Don Larsen was in the Janesville hospital in Wisconsin last week for surgery, we are certainly glad to see he is home already and on the long road to recovery, and last but not least Kay Druml has been ih bed for over a week, I sure do miss you Kay. Debbig George is also home this week with a virus of some sort. We sure hope everyone is. up and around real soon. Strolling Through The Park Rose and Ed Oswald returned home after baby sitting for their five granddaughters in Evanston for the past two weeks. Their daughter and son-in-law, Blanche and Ed Geishecker, came back with a good tan from Florida. Heard Blanche proved her fishing stories with several good catches, one being a 30 lb. KingQsh. Saturday Rose and Ed Oswald visited with their good friends, Barb and Joe Herman of Lake Marie. Joe was just released from Ziqn hospital where he was treated for a dislocated arm from a fall on the ice. Sue and Ron Funk had guests for the day on Sunday. Gerry Wagner celebrated her birthday on Sunday by having her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Harbaugh from Lombard, for dinner. Gerry's sisters, their husbands, and eleven nieces and nephews joined the. group later for the usual birthday cake. Glad you had a great day Gerry. Glad to report that baby Richard Matthews has been gaining weight and seems to be improving. He likes to be held so he can stand on his feet and jump up and down. Jessie says he sure is spoiled. Gayle, Bob and the Laursen children enjoyed the company of Gayle's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Thoresen, over the weekend- Gayle and her dad spent a great deal of their time splicing movie film and then enjoying the completed 400 foot job. Laursens also received a very wonderful anniversary gift from Gayle's folks, an old fashioned phone made into a lamp. Gayle's description made it sound very attractive and novel. * " Pam Schwegel had Sharon Davidson of McHenry as her house guest over the weekend. Paul.. Schwegel meanwhile was house guest of Tommy Wagner. Scottie Rehberg celebrated his second birthday last week with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lou Rehberg, Bonnie Parist and Penny Veenhuis and her son, Danny, helping. Dee Barwig has her mother and father visiting this week from South Carolina. The Meurers were pleasantly surprised Sunday afternoon When Barb's folks from Lombard, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Miller dropped in on them. They had been to dinner.-at Gurnee and were on their way home at the time. Jo and Paul Rizzo went into the city to visit Jo's brother, Frank Geltner, who is in the hospital following a heart attack. They also visited another sister and Paul's mother while in there. A birthday celebration was held at the roller rink last Friday evening with Jolyne Vanek being the celebrant. Those from here attending were Shirley Linda Meurer, Barbara Osmon, and Bonnie Kroeriing. From what I hear the girls had a blast. Norbie Kvviatec had his birthday party last Saturday to celebrate his 12th birthday, which was the 11th. Jimmy McMillan, Clark Bierman, Billy Eckardt, and Robbie Wickenkamp joined him for supper of pizza followed by an evening at the show. Another party last week was held at the Duffy residence to help Danny celebrate his 5th birthday. Attending the party were Kim, Susie, and Freddy Ludwig, Holly Arient, Dawn and Jackie Dolenski and Michael and Randy Funk along with their mothers. A valentine birthday cake was served with ice cream. Ann Wohnrade's sister, Mary Carlstedt, visited Friday along with her two children, Ricky and Linda. Cub Scout Dens 1 and 2 with their den mothers, Ann Wohnrade and Shirley Koch, and with the assistance of Rus- Sel Rode visited the sheriff's office in Woodstock last Friday afternoon. Lt. Nulle showed them around the jail, and the finger printing room. They also saw where mug shots were taken and what "they looked like afterward, and of course the boys were especially impressed with the weapon room. In fact they were impressed with the whole visit. Chuck Campo went to the sports show last Sunday with two of his buddies. Didn't hear how he liked it. Grace Campo's sister, Fran, and husband, Ray, are the proud parents of an 8 lb. Did you ever see such perfect weather as we had for our winter carnival last Saturday. Not a breeze was stirring, and the ice was smooth as glass, and the bonfire lit up the whole neighborhood. A nice crowd came out to enjoy the ice skating, races and just to watch. Stan Lezak and Ron Braun put in many hours of work getting the ice in shape just in time to have the weatherman come along with those snow storms and thaws, but their work was not in vain as those who came out Saturday can testify. Larry Antepenko also helped with the work as did Joyce Braun who made the hot chocolate and coffee. We hope this will be an annual affair, and that more people .will come out and enjoy it with us. I forgot to mention on our sick list Ivy Lezak's name. She has been in bed a week-with the flu and was unable to make it to the winter carnival. Bowling News Our Couples Bowling league played their makeup games last Saturday but instead of having the short interval working for us the scores were pretty bad. The Dodgers are now in first place by themselves when they took 4 points from the team they were tied with. The Braves are now tied' for 2nd place with the Pirates with 7 wins. The Sox are in 4th place with 6 wins, the Cubs and Orioles are next with 5 wins, the Yankees are in 7th place with 4 wins and the Mets are last with 3 wins. It should be very interesting to see what happens this Saturday when the Braves, and the Pirates bowl the Dodgers. See you there Saturday.
