February 18. 1985 AREA KNIGHTS OF ALTAR ADVANCE AT INVESTITURE The investiture- of twenty new members of the Knights of the Altar, servers, and the advancement of older members, who have qualified, -was held on Sunday, Feb. 7 at St. John's church. The boys from this area. Mike O'Malley, Jimmy Zenner, Norbie Lewandowski amd Richard Spader, were the new members. Larry Lutz, Timmy Lewandowski, Chester Ulrich and Paul Farwell advanced to the rank of Grand Knight, which is the highest rank a boy can obtain. Mark VanZevern, Sean Merely, Mike Sima, Mike Boarini and Gerald Idestei/i, advanced to the rank of Knight. The Holy Name hosted the Knights at a short party following the church services. This is a great achievement for boys who wish to serve Christ on the altar and each and everyone of us are very proud of our Pack "452" Holds Blue and Gold & Cub Pack "452", of Pistakee Highlands, held its annual Blue and Gold dinner on 'Sunday, Feb. .7, at the American Legion in Fox Lake. The dinner was a huge success dtfe to the efforts of both the fen mothers and boys. ^ . Invited guests were: Robert King, neighborhood commissioner, Ben Phelps, field commissioner, Rev. and Mrs. Doenecke, the sponsoring institution, and Mr. and Mrs. Milbume Meckley, the Boy Scout leader. Mount Hope Church News The Women's Society has planned a spaghetti dinner for March 27 at Mount Hope church. The MYF, the youth group from the church, is having a pancake supper on Saturday, Feb. 27, at. the church. The evening started with official ceremonies, in the, c hurch, followed by Benediction and a meeting, with refreshments, in the Johnsburg community club. Cathy Mclnerney will be one of the new teachers for .the pub.-., lie high school religion classes. This class meets on Wednesdays at St. John's school. In January Mrs. Carol Bradley was appointed trophy chairman for the Samoyed division at the Chain of Lakes Dog Show. On Sunday, Feb; 7, she had a. meeting, in her home, for the division of the Chicago International iand Chain of Lakes Dog Show.' On the night of the big storm quite a dramatic scene was goin- on at the Bradley home. Carol and Bruce were in the process of delivering puppies when the lights went out and they had to finish the big event by candle light. The biggest concern was how to keep the puppies warm, after their arrival. The Bradleys' bundled puppies, children and themselves and journeyed to Carol's mother's to insure survival. Glad to hear that Glenda Wieck is home from the hospital but she will be taking life easy for awhile. Hurry and get well, Glenda, your friends and neighbors miss your smiling face. Quite a few of our residents have been on thie sick list this past week. Donna Clifton and her five children were in bed and under doctor's care for a couple of days with the flu. The biggest damage was done to the kitchen, one wall was smashed and the other knocked off its foundation. The kitchen was a complete mess.
