Susan Simon--The tragic accident which took the life of little Susan Simon; 7 Ms year old daughter of Thomas and Joan Simon of Chicago and granddaughter of Steve Simon of Wonder Lake, was doubly tragic in that Susan's grandmother, Mrs. Steve (Rose) Simon, died just nine days before. Susart drowned in Wonder Lake Sunday afternoon when she wandered away from the house of her grandfather to play and must have slipped and fallen into the lake. Deepest Sympathy to the family of George Stifich who passed away recent lw and also to the Joe Rio fapire" on the loss of Mrs. Rio's mother, Mrs. Jennie Campa'na. Subdivision Neivs Appreciated I would like to compliment the subdivision of Wonderview on' the way they see to it that their news gets "to me every week without fail. Every Friday ,night or Saturday I can depend on their local reporter calling me with her news and she sees to it that it is all written down in good order when she reads it to me over the phone. I certainly appreciate this and also doubly bless her and the one who did the reporting before her because they are adult eonugh not to have hurt feelings when I have to change their copy slightly to suit the column. I often change the copy or the way of expressing it so that it won't look like a carbon of all the other papers to which it has been sent. I do not change the actual news itself but I do sometimes change the way it is expressed to my own style of writing. After all I am supposed to be the reporter. However if there is a request, for a good reason, that some of the copy 1>e printed verbatim I am happy to comply with the request such as I did a few weeks back. I only wish that each subdivision would send in their news to me the way Wonderview and Wonder Woods does. If they did we'd have a real ^'jim-dandy" column that would make intresting reading for everyone. Why not give it a try? Only, please don't pout if I "schmaltz" it up a bit. The most recent^report of the MeHenry County Dairy Herd Improvement Association names Charles Weingart, with twentysix cows, heading the list of herds averaging 1.2 pounds or 1 of fat per cow per day. The milk totalled 51.4 and the fat, 2.06. Advertise - It Pays Women of the Moose The meeting of the sixteenth was called to order at 8:30 p.m. with Ethel "Hagberg, our senior regent, presiding. The first order of business was the enrollment of Eleanor Haerle, making her the newest member of our ever growing family. Congratulations and welcome, Eleanore. The minutes c|f the previous meeting were read by Gloria Flannigan, recorder. She also read a very informative letter from the auditor. Ethel Hagberg won the special award and Judy Duffy-won the attendance award. Spea"king of attendance. the senior regent asked me to say-a word of appreciation to those who attended and coming out. in such inclement weather. Refreshments were served enjoyed by all. Don't forget the next meeting Tuesday, March 2. Ethelmae Roewer Publicity Chairman RURAL ACCIDENTS UP Motor vehicle accidents involving a driver who loses control of his car and runs off the road are increasing on rural sections of the state's highway system. A survey by the Illinois Department of Public Works and Buildings, Division of Highways, revealed that this kind of mishap in 1963 accounted for 19 per cent of all acci? dents and nearly 26 per cent of those causing fatalities. During 1963 the number of fatal accidents rose by more than 2H per cent above those reported for 1959. Almost 50 per cent occurred on "Saturdays and Sundays and local residents were involved in three out of four accidents.
