PLAY RETURNS TO CHICAGO FOR TWO-WEEK RUN Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'?, cited by the New York Drama Critics as the Best Play of the 1962-63 season, will return to Chicago to play a two-week engagement at the Studebaker Theatre beginning Monday, March 1, through Saturday, March 13. Because of the play's length (it runs three hours and twenty minutes), all evening performances of "Virginia Woolf" will begin promptly at 8 p.m., with the Wednesday and Saturday matinees beginning at 2 p.m. Starred in the evening company are Vicki Cummings and Kendall Clark, in the roles of Martha and George, a disillusioned couple whose marriage is disintegrating in a red haze of alcohol and insult. A strange wild humor is threaded through their vituperation, so Mr. Albee's barbed phrases have a way of provoking laughter as well as shocked recognition. So demanding are these leading roles that they are played at all matinee performances by two other stars. Fayne Blackburn and William Gibberson. This same procedure (separate matinee and evening companies) has been followed in New York and the National Company on tour. Bryarly Lee and Donald Briscoe play a younger married couple, Nick and Honey, at all performances. Produced by Richard Barr and Clinton Wilder, "Virginia Woolf", has been directed by Alan Schneider. The production was designed by William Ritman.
