Section Two ~ Page Two THE tfcHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, March 11, 1965 IFAHNSSURG NEWS BETTY HETTERMANN S85-1290 WCOF ELECTS OFFICERS AT TUESDAY MEET When the lady Foresters of St. Agatha court No. 777 meet - next Tuesday, March 16, in .the community club hall at 8 p.m., election of officers will be held. Also on the agenda for this meeting is the last round Of the current card tournament. Dates for members to keep in mind are April 4 and April 25. On the 4th, the ladies will have their anniml Easter Communion and breakfast. The W.C.O.F. Rockford Diocese Association conference will be held in Aurora on the 25th at St. Joseph's church. More details will be printed onv these two dates in later issues of this column. Briseball Time Close At Hand When Chuck Hiller takes off for spring training, you know baseball must be close behind. Chuck, accompanied by his dad, George, left for Pheonix, Ariz., within the past two weeks. After George saw his son settled and a few sights, he made the return trip by aip. Pam and Stephanie will be counting the days until they see their husband and father again. Once more we would like to extend our best wishes to Chuck as he begins another season with the San Francisco Giants. May he have a most successful year. Girl Scout News At the meeting of Feb. 22, troop 88 started out with a flag ceremony, followed by the receiving of badges. They then went to their patrols for the collection of dues. This particular day was "Thinking Day Around the World." Some of the scouts brought things from other countries to the meeting. Treats were provided by Cathy Freund and Mary Dicks. The meeting was completed by the girls learning a Bolivian dance. They, also sang "Run Along Home." Troop 88 was very sorry to learn that their leader, "Salty," was confined to the hospital. Sunshine Worshipers Hank and Clara Nell of Sunnyside Beach are among our most recent visitors to sunny Florida. They have taken up residence at Lake Worth during their stay. They were very happy that their two daughters, Ethel and Henrietta, of East Orange, N. J., could fly down and spend a few weeks with them. We hope they have beautiful weather and come ho<pe with a lovely suntan. Johnsburg Public School FTA To Meet March 16 is the date of the next meeting of the Johnsl-urg Public school P.T.A; At ihis time the Crystal Lake junior high school band is scheduled to perform. This band is under the direction of Gordon Ti iefenbach. All members are invited to be present at this meeting. Of interest to all is the forthcoming Fun Fair on April 3. This has been a most successful annual endeavor. Please keep the date in mind so ym don't miss it. "It's A Boy For The Freumls" Norman and Marilyn Freund of Blitsch Place welcomed a son on March 2 at the Sherman hospital in Elgin. The little fellow weighed in at a light but mighty, 6 lbs. 1 oz. The Freunds have chosen Andrew Thomas as the name for the new member of the family. They also have a daughter, Nancy. Congratulations to them and the proud grandparents. The maternal grandmother is Mrs. Thomas Rooney of Crystal Lake and the paternal grandparents are the Fred Freunds of Spring Grove Road. Rescue Squad Calls On March 6 at 1:45 a.m. SPRING GROVE NEWS EVA FREUND 678-7185 LIST LENTEN SERVICES HELD AT ST. PETER'S The holy season of Lent was opened at St. Peter's church on Ash Wednesday with an eight o'clock mass in the morning and services with sermon and benediction at 8 p.m. Distribution of ashes followed both services. There will be a high Mass and sermon every Wednesday evening at eight. Stations of the Cross will be on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 and on Friday nights at 8 during Lent. Confirmation The children of St. Peter's school in the intermediate grades received the sacrament of Confirmation at the church on Saturday evening. The most Rev. Loras T. Lane, Bishop of Rockford Diocese, officiated. Ten priests from neighboring parishes were also present to take part in the ceremony. Grandson Mr. and Mrs. Charles May are the proud grandparents of a baby boy. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles May, Jr., of Waukegan. He weighed in at 8 lbs?, 3 ozs. and has been named Michael Patrick. Extend Sympathy Additional sorrows have hit Mrs. Mary Nimsgern since the death of her husband several weeks ago. Word has been received that her brother, Joe, passed away last week. On Monday of this week she received the news that her sister, Anne ,had died. Both are from Chicago. Club The five hundred club was entertained by Mrs. Nora Miller on Thursday afternoon. Prize winners were Frances Busch, Frankie Shotliff, Tillie May, Mary Klein and Josephine May. She was taken by ambulance to the Woodstock hospital. At 2:30 a.m. on March 7 a two car accident called the squad from their beds. The scene was on route 31. The injured were taken by ambulance to," the McHenry hospital. Later that same day at 12:45 p.m., another two car accident took place nciir the outdoor show. The occupants were taken in the squad ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries. This has brought the amount of calls answered to date at 2,448. A reminder once more about the vehicle stickers which are available through the courtesy of the Johnsburg Rescue Squad. Thc,y can be had at any of the" business places, in town. Family Duo In Hospital Young Billy Barth entered the Woodstock hospital last Friday where he underwent surgery for the removal of his tonsils. His mother, Marge, kept vigil at his bedside all day which proved to be most harmful to her health. In the wee hours of the next morning she, herself, was taken to the same hospital suffering a respiratory problem which she is plagued with from time to time. Billy came home on Saturday and Marge was released on Sunday. Both are taking it easy now and enjoying one anothers company. We hope they will snap back real fast now. Lucky 13 Coming.Up Birthday number 13 is what John Smith will be observing on March 20. He's not superstitious and has great expectations for that day. Happy wishes to him.A Ilo&pitalized In Sterling The many friends of Fpthfer Ri'ymond Hettermann will be sorry to learn he is confined to the Home hospital in Sterling. Father Hettermann underwent surgery there last Thursday. His sisters and their husbands, Joe and vMaj'tha Kreund and Tony and^ Agnes Freund, drove there Sunday afternoon to visit Father. I'm sure Father would very much appreciate hearing from his relatives and friends in this vicinity. Be sure to drop him a card real soon. Former Resident Passes On Death came to Albert Reindl, a former resident of Fairview Avenue, last Saturday in Maine. He has been making his home there since he was taken ill last year. Our sincere sympathies are extended to his widow, Katie, and the other surviving members. Funeral services were conducted in Maine. It would be very nice to let Mrs. Reindl" know you are thinking of her during this sad' time. Her address is 450 Liberty Circle, Topsham A.F.F. Maine. Surgery Patient Mrs. Loretta King, a new resident of Dutch Creek Woodlands, underwent surgery at the Holy Family hospital in Des Plaines last week. We send our get-well wishes and hope she is recuperating at home by the time this comes to print. Hardwood trees, pines and shrubs are sold by the Forestry Division for wildlife cover, field shelter belts, soil erosion control, Christmas tree plantations and building up native timber stands. Planting stock from state nurseries may not be used for windbreaks around homes or for ornamental or shade tree plantings.
