Community Service Chairman, Pearl Sanders, asked for volunteers to go to the Valley Hi Nursing Home in Hartland for our annual visit. Chairman Eleanore Reid was proud to report an all time high in our auxiliary's membership. McHenry Unit now has a total of 401 members. Dorothy Cook, Pearl Cooper and Rozlyn Volpendes'ta were unable to attend the membership, dinner and were presented with their crowns for their work' on the drive. Gold Star chairman, Dclk; Treunrl, donated a book to the VTcHenrv Librmy on behalf o the auxiliary in honor of gold star member, Signe Miller. President Lydia Fenner, Dorothy Diedrich, Pearl Cooper and Sue Wirfs attended the monthly McHenry County Council meeting in Cary. County President Ruth Mrachek of McHenry presided. Eleventh District Director Barbara Bieritz and her secretary Rosa Paul were special guests. Pearl Pietsch was not present to accept the attendance award. Other gifts were presented to Dorothy Weichmann and Mary Freund. Refreshments were served by Pearl Sanders and her committee. At our next meeting, April 19, cancer films will be shown. The public is invited and are urged to view these films. Lauretta Homo will head the refreshment committee. • s The McHenry Junior Auxiliary held their monthly meet ing March 201 h. President Bon nie Einspar presided. Easte '.ray favors were constructed b\ the members. Plans were mad for a prosram ivrtv to be b"l in Woodstock March 27. Our juniors will take part in the the entertainment. The juniors also plan to attend the convention at Woodstock April 3. A large crowd of Post and Auxiliary members gathered at the Legion home March 20 to celebrate the forty-sixth birthday of the American Legion. A pot-luck supper was served by the auxiliary, including a large birthday cake. A gift was presented to Post Commander Tim McCormack from the Ladies Auxiliary. Dancing followed the supper.
