Sandy, who was an honor graduate of McHenry high school, class of '64, was capped during an impressive candlelight ceremony at the First Christian church, Springfield. She was one of sixty members of the class at the Springfield School of Nursing. Her mother and father--Mr. and Mrs. Randall Josserand-- drove to the State Capitol and were met by Sandy's adopted aunt and uncle-- Dorothy and George Wright of Avalon, N. J. The badge of honor -- the nurse's cap -- was placed on Miss Josserand's head by the Director of Nurses and was pinned In place by her big "sister". As the candles were lighted by the young women and their faces shining with dedication, all sixty recited the Nightingale pledge. The Josserands and the Wrights stayed at an inn across the street from the State Capitol. They toured the Capitol, but were disappointed when they were unable to see former Speaker of the House, John Lewis. The two couples returned to the village Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday, Ro and Randall took the Wrights to O'Hare airport for. their return trip. Mr. Wright and Mr. Josserand were buddies during their Army'tour of duty and the four have remained close^ friends through the years. Two In Village Lose Loved Ones Deepest sympathy to Chet Helwig whose brother, George, 53, died Monday, March 15, in a Chicago hospital. He is also survived by his widow, Frances, three, children, and a sister, Mrs. Lorraine Ritter of Mc- Henry. Services were held last Thursdayjin Chicago, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. Condolences also to Betty Roeske whose step-father Lewis Sullivan, 50, passed away in Downey hospital, Groat Lakes, last Wednesday, where he had been a patient for three weeks. He had been a heart patient and hospitalized many times in the eighteen months. . 'V Surf Barb Brand returned home recently from a glorious two weeks in Florida, accompanied by her father, Otto Kiefer of Pittsburgh, and youngest son, Roger, a pre-schooler. The two Brands motored to Pennsylvania, where they met Pappa and proceeded south to Palm Beach, and ultimately to Key West. } Although they went deep sea fishing, the best ones were caught by others! Barbara indulged in her favorite sport-- swimming and skin diving. Those horrible denizens of the deep--sting rays--floated and maneuvered past her snorkle. They also witnessed the elite corps of the Marine Corps who were on maneuvers at the Keys. Their "diggings" at a motel were elegant and luxurious. Barb and son returned home with glowing Florida tans and very rested. With the howling blizzard on St. Pat's Day, she wished she was back!
