Besides serving on the board of auditors for the past ten years, he also has served as justice of the peace and magistrate of the Circuit court for twelve years; as Democratic precinct committeeman eight years and as Democratic representative four years. HAROLD "HARRY" FREUND of 2208 W. Church Street, Johnsburg, seeks another term on the board of auditors. Mr. Freund attended the local schools and is presently femployed as an auto mechanic and service station operator. He has served as president of the Johnsburg Community Club., as assistant chief of the McHenry Fire Protection District and also holrls memberships in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic Order of Foresters and Holy Name Society. Mr. Freund is married and has three children, Donna, 20, Mary Ellen, 14, and Douglas, 8. The incumbent is running on the Independent party ticket. ARNOLD J. RAUEN, a member of the town board for twenty-four years, lives at 2721 Regner Road, Pistakee Bay. He is a graduate of Jasper college, Jasper, Tnd., with a degree in business administration and personnel administration. At present, Mr. Rauen is chairman of the. board of the McHenry Savings and Loan Association, president of the McHenry Personal Loan Corp., and state director for the Illinois Savings Bonds Committee. Besides his work as town auditor, he served as justice of the peace in the township for twenty-one years. Affiliations include the Johnsburg Community Club, Chicago Press Club, Union League Club of Chicago, Woodstock Elks Club, McHenry Council, Knights of Columbus, Bishop Boylan 4th Degree K. of C. Assembly, St. Mary's Court, Catholic Drder of Foresters, member President's Council, Marmion Military Academy and director of the Newman Foundation, DeKalb, among others. Mr. Rauen is married to the former Leona Regner. They have one daughter, Barbara K. Hettermann, and two grandchildren, Robert A. Hettermann and Julie Ann Hettermann. For Assistant Supervisor WILLIAM J. SILK of 7604 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake, seeks the office of assistant supervisor on the Caucus party ticket. Mr. Silk attended the school of engineering at Marquette university for -two years and for the past twenty years has been employed as a master mechanic and designer. He is presently proprietor of a sporting goods and hobby store at Wonder Lake. He has never before held public office. Mr. Silk and his wife, Rose, have a married daughter, Mary Swearingen, and they have two grandchildren, Norma and Biily. CHARLES "CHUCK" WEINGART seeks a second term as assistant supervisor., He resides at 1714 W. Rt. 120. Mr. Weingart, a lifelong area resident, was educated in the Mcftenry schools and operates his own dairy farm. This will be his second bid for a four-year term. Among public offices held include vice-president of Pure Milk District 6; yfise-president of the Federal Land Bank; past president of the McHenry County Farm Bureau; director of the McHenry County Fair association; chairman of the Usher Guides of St. Mary's church and a past officer of the Foresters. He belongs to the Johnsburg Community Club and the Holy Name society. Mr. Weingart was selected by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Illinois as outstanding farmer one year. He and his wife, Marie, have three children, aged 20, 14 and 7. For Assessor JUNE SCHMUNK of 3420 W. Fairway Drive, McHenry, is running for the first time for the office of township assessor on the Caucus party ticket. Formerly of Chicago, she attended Lucy Flower high school in that city for four years. She is presently employed at Magic Slacks. Mrs. Schmunk's 'affiliations include the Republican Women's club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary. She has been married to Sam Schmunk for twenty-two years, and they have five daughters." Mrs. Schmunk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hagberg and the granddaughter of Mrs. Ida Kreutzer. EVA BACON SPARKS, who resides at 3706 W. John Street, seeks her first full term as assessor, and is now completing the term to which her husband was elected. She is on the Independant party ticket. She attended grade and high school here and also twelve assessors' school workshops. In addition to one year serving as assessor, for eleven years she was assistant to the late Lester R. Bacon and has acted as first vice-president of Lake-McHenry County Assessors association. Mrs. Sparks is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Community Methodist church. Funeral services were held in Glenview, with burial in Elmwood Park for Robert \J3anson, father of Mrs. Florence Hopp. on Saturday. Mr. Hanson passed away in Florida earlier last week at the age of 77. Besides Mrs. Hopp, he is survived also by another daughter, Edna Hanson of Chicago and two sons, Russell and Stanley, both of Glenview, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Surgery Successful All the many prayers which were said for little Beth Klapperich were answered thi9 past week. Wee Beth underwent heart surgery last week in a Chicago hospital and it proved most successful. Please continue to remember her in your daily prayers as she has eye surgery coming up in a couple weeks. Fathers Pass On Our sympathies are relayed to Mrs. Victor Hopp and Mrs. Frank Schafer upon the recent passing of their fathers. Mrs. Schafer's father, Nicholas regards to the notkte" of traffic hindering thefr emergency efforts. The cars have not been following the squad of late when they go out on a call. This is most helpful to them, especially when time is of the essence. Please continue this habit in the future. Church Cleaning Reminder Be sure to have those scrub brushes, rags and buckets ready for use in St. John's church next Tuesday, April 6. This is the yearly cleaning of our church in preparation for Confirmation and First Holy Communion. All mothers who have children in these classes are especially urged lo attend, but any lady who 'is willing to help will be greeted warmly. If it is impossible for you to be there, please try to send some food to the community club or a cash donation to defray cost. Rescue Squad Calls During that terrific snow storm last week, our Johnsburg rescue squad answered a call in Pistakee Highlands during the early evening hours. A woman driver hit a tree and had to be taken to the McHenry hospital by the squad ambulance for treatment. She was released a short time later. A safety tip from the squad this week has to do with the "big thaw" that will soon be upon us. There will be a lot of snow melting and water will be accumulating in many places. This water will be freezing and thawing with the rise and fall of the thermometer. Keep your sidewalks clear at all times so you are not responsible for someone falling and breaking their bones.
