All members are urged to attend. Members will elect officers for 1965-66, and will meet candidates seeking election to the Harrison district 36 and McHenry High School District 156 school boards. Following the business session, the meeting will adjourn to inspect the work of Harrison students in their annual Science Fair. The Science Fair is under/ the direction of George Guetzloff, Junior high teacher. It has grown in scope and scir entific achievement, and drama* ticaily emphasizes the instruction and knowledge that youngsters gain at the grade,school level in science subjects. , Harrison PTA membership has more than doubled this yeaiv with 281 parents' and teachers enrolled. All should attend the meeting that starts at 8 p.m. in Harrison school, Tuesday, April 6. Present Slate Nominations from the floor will be accepted for the PTA election. A slate of the following candidates was presented at the last meeting: For president, Maxine C. Bixby, incumbent ; vice-president, Gloria Freund; secretary, Jean Decker, incumbent, and treasurer, Marcella Parker. School board candidates invited to present their qualifications are Harrison District 36: Incumbents, Dr. S. L. Ruggero ancLWilliam Cristy; and Jay W. Cristy Jr., Lewis E. Rt. 31, McHenry, a senior in the college of liberal arts, University of New Hampshire, has been named as one of 900 on the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the first semester. The many remembrances meant so very much to me. Mrs. John Grasser 4-1-65 Obituaried PETER E. LINDEMULDER Peter E. Lindernulder of 3605 W. John Street, McHenry, died Saturday, March 27, in McHenry hospital, where he had been confined for only two and a half days. He was 72 years of age. Mr. Lindernulder, who had resided in McHenry for about eight years, was born Sept. 4, 1892, in Holland. He was a retired inspector for the U.S. Navy. The deceased was a veteran of World War I. He belonged to McHenry Legion Post No. 491, AF & AM McHenry Lodge, No. 158, and the Shriners Temple in Rockford. His only survivor is his wife, Aleta Belle. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home, where Masonic services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in Woodland cemetery. . MARGARET L. PORTEN Margaret L. Porten, 66, one of the early pioneers in the Island Lake area, died Monday, March 29, at Conriell Memorial hospital, Libertyville, following a long illness. Mrs. Porten was born May 28, 1898. She and her husband founded Porten's subdivision in 1921 and opened their business in 1924. The deceased was a member of the legion of Mary of the Altar and Rosary Society of Transfiguration church. Wauconda. A Gold Star mother, she was one of the founders of Porten's Grandmothers Club. Her husband, Peter J., preceded her in death in 1954, a son, Robert, at age 4, and Lt. Walter Porten, a pilot in World War II, was killed in service in 1944. Survivors include three sons, Peter, Jr., and Raymond of Porten's subdivision and Earl J. of Wauconda, three daugh- , ters, Catherine Baird, Eileen Wood and Margaret Dehne, all of Porten's subdivision; nineteen grandchildren and three brothers, Jack, Luke and Walter Schuler. The body rested at the Wauconda funeral home until 10 o'clock Thursday morning, when Mass will be sung at Transfiguration church, followed by interment in St. Boniface cemetery, Chicago. JAMES BEAVIS Friends of James E. Beavis, a former McHenry businessman, will learn with regret 6f his death, which occurred March 15 in Portland, Oregon. Funeral services were held in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Beavis was bom in Suffolk, England on Aug. 26, 1889. He went to Canada in 1909 and served in the Canadian Army in World War I: In 1920 he came to this country, and resided in McHenry prior to moving to Crystal Lake. He operated a tailor sftop near the corner of Green and Elm. He is survived by his widow, Alice; a son, Walter, of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wasnoska, of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. JENNIE HARRIS Funeral services were held in Chicago for Mrs. Jennie Harris, 82, who resided with a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Vogt, at 4205 E. Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake. Mrs. Harris died Thursday. March 25, in McHenry hospital. The deceased was born Dec. 29. 1882, in Ashland City, Tenn., daughter of Frank and Ella Albritton. Her husband, William F. Harris, preceded her in death. Besides Mrs. Vogt, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. William (Zona) Gray of Chicago; a son, Ernest O., of Evergreen Park; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Gibbs of Ashland City, Tenn., and Mrs. Carrie Gibbs of Spaulding, Idaho; and a brother, John Albritton, of ' Ashland City, Tenn.
