Barbara Osmon joined the group later in the evening with Nancy Matthews and Linda Meurer in their dancing performance as part of the program. Shirley Meurer was also in the program. Gladys and Art Hafer had an old time friend out from Milwaukee over the weekend, A1 Pruess. Sunday afternoon they went to Arlington Heights to attend the confirmation party for their nephew's son, Art Hafer. The Hafer's house which they rent out in Crystal Lake was damaged very badly in the tornado. Our speediest and very best get-well wishes go to Bette Kamp. Bette is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday morning of this week at Harvard hospital and we're sure she'd enjoy hearing from her many friends. Get well wishes go to Gene Kell and to Lucille Jones's brother also. We heard that Don Noel, son of Rose and Antone, has been inducted into the army. Don is stationed in Kentucky and we'd like him to know that we wish him the very best of everything as he serves his country. Sharon Wagner had dinner at a local dining spot on Thursday evening. One of her friends had several of her chums as guests for her birthday. Get-well wishes are extended to Matthew Oik. Hope he's improved before many more days go by. Two of our couples became aunts and uncles again during the past week, Gerry and Lloyd added a nephew, James Umbarger, and Sue and Ron Funk added a niece. Gerry's newest nephew came into the world at a tiny 4 lbs., 10 ozs. and just 17 inches long. Hope both Gerry and Sue extend my congratulations to their sisters, Jane and Dorothy. Paul Schwegel was honored guest on Saturday evening. The Schwegels' good friends, Carol, Liza and Jerry Basseuner of Marengo, took Joan, Paul, Pam and Paul, Jr., out for a delicious Chinese dinner to celebratei Paul's birthday. On Sunday, Paul was once again honored guest at a family dinner prepared by his loving wife, Joan. Enjoying the affair were Paul's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Martin SchWegel of Gary, Ind., his aunt, Emily Douglas of Chicago, and Joan's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Douglass. Heard Paul really got to enjoy the dinner even tho April 15 is almost here. •Understand that Jim Daurio found a long missing pair of shoes when he dug up his evergreens the other day. Jim wouldn't say how long they had been missing but there they were, heels still good and sticking right up out of all the mud. I'm wondering Jim, does leather help evergreens grow? » Joyce Pankiewicz sure could have used an over sized cork after the storm ended Sunday. Her kitchen was being flooded. Joyce also had some ill luck last' week with her car. The condition of the roads had her car wheels headed one way and the body the other way. Glad yoU could get it fixed Joyce. „ Ron Meurer's folks lost their muffler and tail pipe when they visited on Sunday. Wonder how many other cars have been damaged. What we all "needed on Sunday were, boats to get in and out of here. The complaints to us have been numerous as we start the paper on Sunday evening. Coming out to enjoy a day of fishing and ending up dodging hail balls instead is what happened to Donna and Ray Rode's relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Stuckey, and their daughter, Sharon, of Brookfield. Donna and Ray are sorry they put their boat in the lake on Sunday morning, they may be needing it. Gerry and Lloyd Wagner spent Wednesday evening in Des Plaines visiting with friends. On Sunday they went into Meadowdale to help Gerry's nephew, Jerry Harrison, celebrate his sixth birthday. The Wagner children, Sharon, Tommy and Dave, also enjoyed the birthday celebration. I'm really very happy to report that Susie Funk is feeling much better after feeling not up to par for several weeks. Enjoyed having tea with Susie on Sunday. Susie had a gathering of the Funk and Roth families for dinner on Saturday. The occasion was to honor Eddie who was Confirmed at St. Mary's Saturday evening. Ronnie Kamp was also an honored guest at a dinner prepared by his mom Bette on Saturday evening. Grandma and grandpa Druml of Wonder Lake, uncle Eddie, aunt Kay, Dennis ah^* Kevin DriiAil tiiong with' his 'mom, dad,; brother,1 t>an, and sister, Cindy,' sill enjoyed a very pleasant evening in honor of Ronnie's Confirmation. ' Sunday evening the only news Gayle Laursen had was that she felt like she was living in a house boat when she looked out her windows and saw nothing but water. Also receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday evening at St. Mary's from Bishop Lane were Larry Vera, Matthew Oik, Mary Johnson, Marie Karstens, Steven Plucinski, Janet Barle and Karen Foszcz. Jane and Ken Grothman were welcomed into Ringwood Methodist church and their son, Jimmy, was being confirmed also. Rose and Ed Oswald had Barb and Joe Herman as their guests on Thursday. The Oswalds- complete with thermos of coffee and sandwiches in case they were needed left on Friday for Southern Illinois to visit with Ed's sisters and other, relatives. They are due back as we are writing the column. Hope they had a nice trip. A belated birthday wish goes to'Jimmy Moore and his father, ^Bob, who both share the same natal days, April 6. A family party was celebrated that evening with Jimmy's Grandma and Grandpa Peters from Lakeland Park, Jim's Godfather William Janke and his wife Shirley and six children from Wauconda and his Godmother Aunt Mary Peters and husband, Tom, and children also from the Park all attending. Mary Johnson's Grandma Shiplock and Aunt Nonie, both from Chicago, spent the weekend out here so they could attend Mary's confirmation. On Sunday John and Maureen and the family took them home and while in Chicago enjoyed a popular movie. Alma Siegmund had a birthday dinner for her son-in-law and granddaughter, Clyde and Patricia Forrester. Clyde's wife, Cecilia, and their other three children, Sissy, Bud and Beth, hail from Glenview. Petey and Meg Oakford were also Hvrrr,,.*.-, 'amdhg those ' enjoying the celebration:. • : , MUnips. has put little Barb Huiijinn to feed.' Cai-ple says she js pretty' uncomfortable this morning cause she's unable to eat. Hope you're better real soon Barb. Patti Ann Grizley was honored guest on Saturday afternoon for her fifth birthday which was on the 8th. Among those helping Patti celebrate with games and all the necessary things to make a birthday party really fun were Carol and Nancy Matthews, Carole and Debbie Scheid, Patti's cousins, Debbie, Beverly, Jackie and Donald Grizley, grandma Mester, aunt Sharon, uncle Chuck and their children were supper guests. Enjoying the whble affair besides the guests were Patti's mom, dad, sisters and brother. Tripoley, was in order at the home of Delia Julian on Wednesday. Enjoying the luscious meal and dessert were Louise McEnery, Ruth McMahon, Edna Hountras, Grace Mandziata, Ivy Lezak and Ann Herzog. John Johnson is a real "go getter when it comes to getting boys out for Little League and his vigor ended up with either he or Kkty being very embarrassed as he stopped by the Hendle home Wednesday evening. Kitty, you turn a lovely shade of red. New Residents Since the last all out effort to get people to register to vote we have had many new residents moving in and we would like to tell them that they can become voters by dropping in on Vicki Bottari 1621 N. Pleasant. Vicki is the registrar for the subdivision and will be very happy to serve you. Sympathy, The condolences of the subdivision are also extended to the family of Carl (Grandpa) Reymann. Carl or grandpa as he was called by everyone had been a patient at Woodstock hospital. He went to his eternal reward early Sunday morning. Burial" is scheduled from Schneider Leucht funeral home in Woodstock for Wednesday. We'll all' miss "Grandpa". Creek Overflows All the residents or our subdivision spent a very hectic time after the storm had passed on Sunday afternoon. No one could really realize how bad it was but from Prairie to Home Avenues and from Meadow Lane to Sunset almost thing was under water. The damage was not too great, worries were many, tempers much too short, youngsters enjoying every minute of it but all of us were very grateful that we got off as easy as we had. No one lost a home or a life as our neighbors in Crystal Lake and Island Lake had. Getting in and out of here proved a hazard for a while but after Frank Hromec's call to Wally Dean and the arrival of the fire department's pumpers from Mc- Henry and Wonder Lake 'things began to look much improved. Members of our subdivision were . pleased to receive help from all the firemen, Frank and Mr. Dean as well as from Ron Braun, our subdivision's president and from LaVerne Hromec who kept bringing hot coffee to the men who worked so very hard. Many, many funny and not so funny incidents occurred which would fill our column but we do not have space to cover it all. Let's all be very thankful to the good Lord who spared us from the fate of towns so close, To the men of Wonder Lake and McHenry's fire department, we think you're terrific and are mighty glad we have you for neighbors. Be Wise Head The Classifieds OL Serving Left Hams Only No one has ever seen hogs use their left hind foot to scratch. For their left side they always rub against a tree or a fence. As a result the left ham is smooth and tender. Why not bring the family to The Timbers for Easter Dinner. Menu for the day includes Tender Left Hams, Milk Fed Lamb, Young Tom Turkey and Honey Glazed Duckling and the usual appetizing menu. Route 47 and 14 Bypass, Woodstock, 111.
