WEGENER TO BE ORDAINED EARLY IN JUNE The Tri-County Republican Club of BOone, Lake and McHenry counties will be one of the twenty-seven Republican clubs in Illinois to receive the Gold Honor Award at the spring conference of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women to be held in Springfield on May 19 and 20. Mrs. LaVerne A. Dixon, Gurnee state honor roll chairman of the federation, who will complete her term of office with the conference, will present the award. Receiving the Gold Honor will be Mrs. Thomas R. Davis of McHenry, wife of the Tri-County president. Tri-County is the only Republican club in the 12th Congressional District to have fulfilled the list of achievements required for the honor. Last year they won the silver award. Organizations achieving the state gold award are eligible to compete for the diamond award given, by the National Federation of Republican Women. Mrs. Frank Kenney of Barringt'on, president of the Federation, will preside at the two-day meeting. The highlight of the conference will be a speech at the banquet by Senate Majority Leader Russell Arrington of Evanston, with other speakers and study groups rounding out the agenda. Earning Silver Honor Awards in the 12th Congressional District are the women's Republican clubs of Fox Lake, Grant Township, McHenry Township and Waukegan Township. Vernon Robert Wegener, S.D.S. will be among twelve Salvatorians (Society of the Divine Savior) ordained priests on Saturday, June 5, by Bishop William J. McDonald, sector of the Catholic University of America, at the National $hrine of the Immaculate Conoeption, Washington, D. C. * Father Wegener, the son of $Irs. Agnes Wegener of Ingleside, attended St. Peter's §chool, Volo, and Grant Community High School, Fox Lake. He is the first son of St. f'eter's, Volo, to be ordained to the priesthood. ' * Father Wegener entered the Salvatorian Seminary, St. Nazism/, Wis., after bis second year of high school. He graduated from the junior college department in June of 1957 and entered the Salvatorian Novitiate, (Solfax, Iowa. After profession <$F first vows on Sept. 8, 1958, ls»e was assigned to Divine Savior Seminary, Lanham, Md. and attended classes at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C., receiving a B.Av degree in philosophy in June of I960. During his Apostolic year, Father Wegener taught at Mother of the Savior Seminary, Blackwood, N. J. In September, 1962, he professed final vows and began his last l^jur years of study before ordination. * - Father Wegener will offer his fjrst Solemn Mass at St. Peter's, Volo, his home parish, on Sunday, June 13, at noon. Installed for the 1965-66 season were Robert Hanford, president; Frank Schafer vice-president; Robert Brunswick, secretary and treasurer; Stan Lezak, Glenn Benson and William Nimsgern, board of directors; and Mrs. Glenn Benson, publicity chairman. The first club camp-out of the season is scheduled for the weekend of May 22 and 23 at Rock Cut State Park near Rockford. A last reminder is given of the club's Camp-o-rama to be held this Sunday, May 16, at the McHenry city park at noon. There will be a fine display of trailers and tents. Obituari ted ROSE JESKE A funeral Mass for Rose Jeske will be sung at 10 o'clock Friday morning from St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Johnsburg, with burial in St. Adelbert's cemetery, Niles, 111. Visitation will be after 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. Mrs. Jeske, a resident of 805 Treetop Road, Ingleside, died May 11 in Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, following a short illness. The deceased was born Sept. 15, 1884, in Chicago, and for twelve years had lived in the Ingleside community. She is survived by her husband, Albert, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Shemroske and Mrs. Margaret Schaack of Chicago. G. C. WILDE, SR. Last rites will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday from the Corcoran funeral home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue, Chicago, for G. C. Wilde, Sr. Mr. Wilde, 65, a resident of 2402 Villa Lane, McHenry, died Sunday, May 9, in Hines Veterans Hospital, Hines, 111., where he was admitted a few hours earlier. The deceased was born Sept. 12, 1899, in Chicago. A local resident for about twenty years, he became semi-retired recently after being employd as a maintenance man. He was a member of the World War I McHenry Barracks. Survivors are his widow, Rose; a son, G. C. Wilde, Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Dolores Peterson, of Fox Lake; four grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Beatrice O'Connell, Grace Julian and Walter Wilde of Chicago and Florence Bowman of Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Wilde was buried in Montrose Cemetery, Chicago. LILLIAN JONES Lillian H. Jones of 7606 Oak Road, Wonder Lake, died Monday, May 10, at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, where she had been a patient for three weeks. Her death followed an illness of about a year. Mrs. Jones, 64, was born in Chicago Oct. 19, 1900. She had lived at Wonder Lake for about twenty-five years, coming here from Chicago. Survivors are her husband, Harvey F. Jones, Sr.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Roberts of Lombard and Mrs. Urban (Dorothy) Bauer of Wonder Lake; two sons, Harvey F. Jr., and Donald G. of Wonder Lake; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Hart of Chicago and a brother, Clarence Olson, of Chicago; also fourteen grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A son, Melivn, was killed in the Korean War in 1952. The body rests at' the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday, | with Rev. John O. Mclntyre of Faith Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Ringwood cemetery. MARGARET FRETT Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Frett, 90, was buried last Friday in Aurora following services held in St. Rita church. Mrs. Frett, a former McHenry resident, died May 5 in St. Joseph Hospital, Aurora. The deceased was born in McHenry and lived her early life here. Her husband, Charles G. Fi'ett, preceded her in death. She leaves three sons, Leonard. home of his brother, John, in Fenton, Mich., where he had been living for a year and a half. His unexpected death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Conway was bom June 2, 1901, in McHenry. A real estate salesman, he lived most of his life in McHenry until about twenty years ago, when he moved to Chicago and then Elgin. His Wife, the former Ruth Kent, preceded him in death in 1944. He is survived by one daughter, Laurayne, o£»--Mc- Henry; a sister, Sister Mary St. Hilda, BVM, of Lincoln, Nebr.; and two brothers, Robert Conway, of McHenry and John of Michigan. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, Clarence and Ed (Kelley) Conway and Mrs. Emma Adams and Sister Mary Celine, BVM. The body rested at the Peter M. Norman has been named McHenry county assistant home adviser. She will work from the Woodstock Cooperative Extension Service office at Highway 47 and McConnell road. Mrs. Norman is a home economics graduate of Iowa State University, where she majored in textiles and clothing design. As assistant home adviser, Mrs. Norman will work closely with various phases of 4-H work and serve as an assistant adviser to the McHenry County Homemakers Asociation. A native of Clarendon Hills, Mrs. Norman now lives in Elgin with her husband. Charles W. and Francis, all of Aurora; two daughters.
