Home ma leers Unit To Hold Luncheon The McHenry Homemakers extension unit will sponsor a luncheon on Thursday, June 3, at noon at1 the Moose hall, Rt. 120, east of McHenry. Dinner For Educators, Retired Board Members The board of education of District 15 enjoyed dinner in Crystal Lake last Sunday evening, honoring three faculty members who are retiring, Miss Nellie Doherty, Mrs. Eleanor Foley and Mrs. Elsie Hojjpe, and two school board members who recently retired from membership, Mrs. Margaret Haug, president, and Mrs. Naomi Meyer, secretaiy of District 15. The evening was planned in recognition for the many years of se'f-vice to the school and community given by these five women. Lincoln Road, McHenry, announce the engagement of his daughter, Jean Marie, to Midshipman William G. Biddlecom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur C. Biddlecom of West Seneca, New York. The wedding will take place sometime this summer at the Community Methodist Church, McHenry. Miss Borchardt is a graduate of McHenry high school and graduated from the University of Illinois with a BA degree in rhetoric and philosophy. She. was a James Scholar and in student government. Miss Borchardt is presently employed for an engineering education society. Midshipman Biddlecom will receive his BS degree in chemistry in June, 1965, from the University of Illinois. He graduated in 1962 from the Erie County Technical Institute, Williamsville, N. Y. At the university he is a member of Trident (naval honorary society). He will be commissioned an ensign following graduation. Graduation Party For Eighth Graders All eighth grade Junior .high school students and their teachcrs are invited to a graduation party, sponsored by the McHenry Community PTA, on June 7, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the American Legion home. More detailed information about the party will be sent home with each student through a PTA bulletin. VVSCS Circle Sponsors Lawn Party, Luncheon The Judith Warren Circle of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Community Methodist Church will sponsor a lawn party and salad luncheon at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 18. Location will be the Herbert Engdahl residence, 508 North Grefen Street, McHenry. Members of the circle suggest that tickets be purchased early as attendance will be limited to 200 guests. If rain occurs on Aug. 18, the event will be postponed to the following day. Reserve this date and bring your friends for an afternoon of fellowship and cards. Table prizes will be provided. The entire proceeds will be used toward installation of a pullman kitchen in the church meeting room. RONALD SMITH INITIATED INTO BUSINESS GROUP Northwestern University President J. Roscoe Miller and John Barr, who will become dean of Northwestern's school of business June 1, will address the spring initiation dinner of Beta Gamma Sigma, national honorary scholastic business fraternity, to be held at the Orrington hotel in Evanston. The fraternity's Beta chapter at Northwestern will present an honorary membership to Dr. Miller and initiate into the fraternity twenty-nine top ranking junior, senior and graduate students from the school of business. The twenty-nine named to Beta Gamma Sigma are from nine states and Australia and include Ronald Smith of 3807 N. Spring Grove Road, McHenry, a graduate student who is a candidate for the degree of master of business administration. Top Winners Named In Bridge-Canasta Tourney The top winners were announced this week in the bridge-canasta tournament held at Christ the King, Catholic church, Wonder Lake. Completing their second season of play and placing first in the bridge group were Tom and Catherine Bolger, McHenry; second place, Betty Clark and Helen Moriarity, McHenry; and third place to Frank and Joanne Higgins of Wonder Lake. The high couple for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Mauch, McHenry. MARY DIMAGGIO' ' WED MAY 22 TCf ANTHONY HOCIN Christ the King Catholic church in Wonder Lake wis the setting for a beautiful wedding last Saturday, May 22, when Miss Mary DiMaggio exchanged nuptial vows with Mr. Anthony Hocin, Jr. Miss D; Maggio is the daughter of Mrs. Joseph DiMaggio of 5510 Cleveland Drive, McHenry, and her bridegroom is the sort of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hocin of Mc- Cullom Lake. The wedding ceremony was solemnized at 11 o'clock in the morning, with Joseph Carlisi, a cousin, as acolyte. The pretty bride, given in marriage by her godfather, Sam Carlisi, of Glenview, walked down the aisle wearing a white peau de soie dress with medium train, decorated in lace, pearls and sequins. Her double crown of aurora borealis held a fingertip veil and she carried a bouquet of glameliias. Acting as matron Of honor was Mrs. Sue Carlisi of Glenview, godmother of the bride, and the maid of honor was Charlotte Carlisi, a cousin. Bridesmaids were Diane DiMaggio, Annette Runco of St. Louis, Marie Carol Tornabene of Cicero, Angel Cassaro of Westchester and Marie Salemi of Chicago, all cousins, and junior bridesmaids were Annie LaGambina of Chicago and Cathy Salemi of Fox Lake. They were attired in floor length, poudre blue dresses and wore rose crowns enhanced with pearls. Lorrie Salemi was flower girl. MARY'S A beautiful wedding was solemnized in St. Mary's Catholic church last Saturday, May 22, when Miss Dolores Catherine Klapperich became the bride of Mr. Norman D. Strossner. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Klapperich of 2918 W. Lincoln Road, McHenry, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Strossner of 1510 Catalpa Drive, McHenry. Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 11:30 o'clock nuptial rite, for which the children's choir sang. The church altars were decorated for the occasion with bouquets of yellow and white flowers. Miss Klapperich was charming in a white organza, floor length gown, styled with fitted bodice and short sleeves. The bodice, sleeves and waistline were hightlighted with peau de angi lace and a band of the same lace encircled the full skirt and the chapel train, which also contained five appliques. The bride carried a crescent- shaped bouquet of white roses, white snowdrift pom poms and a few yellow roses. The veil attached to her headpiece was made by her mother. For her "something old" she carried a white crocheted handkerchief made by her grandmother. Miss Sharon Klapperich, sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Susan Brown of McHenry and Mrs. Donald Aeverman of Algonquin, cousins of the bride, and Mrs. William Kirk of McHenry, a friend. They wore maize colored crepe, floor length sheaths fashioned with sculptured necks, fitted bodices with inset cummerbunds, and short sleeves. Each had a detachable floor length train highlighted with chantilly lace insets.
